My name is Duncan and I am a spunky boy! It did take me a while to get to be this comfortable and spunky though. I was pretty nervous for almost a full week in my new foster home, but with the help of my foster doggie brothers and the patience of my foster parents, I've learned that humans aren't scary and hands can be gentle. I play really well with the other dogs and I like to play wrestle, chase, and tug-o-war. My foster home has these potty bells by the stairs and I'm supposed to ring them when I need to go, but I'm still learning. I just get so excited when I'm playing, that I forget! One place I never potty though is my kennel. I like to keep my kennel clean! I'm really good at going into my kennel when the humans in my house leave for work, and I also sleep in my kennel at night. Just say, 'kennel!' and I'll walk right in. I get a biscuit every time! The humans say I have to sleep in my kennel until I'm potty trained. When I'm out of my kennel and playing, I like to run and give kisses to my humans! They let me snuggle and play on the bed and getting belly rubs is amazing! Sometimes I fall asleep in the human bed at my foster mom's feet and I have to get carried to the kennel at bed time. It's important to know that my past is not fully known, and I do get nervous around new people and new places and I take a while to warm up. I stayed at a vacation foster for a couple nights and I hid behind the living room chair when we were inside - I just wasn't sure! But if you choose me to be your forever, just know I need some time but I will be your best friend once I know for sure you're safe. Speaking of safe, it would be best for me to have a doggie sibling to learn from and help me feel comfortable! I'm still kinda scared of the leash, but a harness could work much better for me! I have a heavy coat with a thick undercoat, so I am at home in, and love the snow!!   Not surprising with my heritage, I love to walk, and I can walk fast!   I enjoy meeting people and have zero problem meeting people or other dogs on my walks! My puppies are off to their forever homes, I got spayed, and now I am all healed and healthy, so I am ready to go to my forever home!   My Foster Parents have 2 smaller dogs and some cats, but they don’t bother me any and I don’t bother them! I only wish they were big enough to play with me!   I am still not much more than a Puppy myself, so I have lots of energy and can go as far and as long as you can, but my heritage also allows me to be happy laying outside, just chilling, keeping my eyes on everything, for hours at a time!   I have a voice, and can use it, but I don’t most of the time, as I don’t let much bother me.   I can jump like a Gazelle, so my ideal forever home will have a fenced back yard I can be free in!  If not, we can go on walks and have fun to get my exercise out together.   I am a nature girl and I have never been crate trained, and maybe never confined, so I don’t like it much.  My Foster Parents give me run of the main floor, so I don’t feel trapped.   I am the smartest dog in my house, and maybe as smart as my Fosters have ever had, so I will be easy to train, (or not), as I am smart enough to be independent! Nana has been in foster care with a MARS staff member since Aug 2021. During this time Nana has been working on all her life skills, with the help of our trainer.  At her annual exam on 6/7/22 she tested positive for heartworm. She went through heartworm treatment with flying colors. She has been retested for heartworm and is now negative. She needs to remain on monthly heartworm prevention, year round, for the rest of her life. Nana came to MARS with some significant fear based reactivity, stranger danger and trust issues. With the dedication of her foster and trainer she has improved dramatically and is ready to find her FOREVER home.  Nana will need to continue using these newly mastered life skills in her new home with a calm and confident human leader. MARS will provide training with her adopter during the transition.  While Nana is able to live in a townhome she would do best without shared walls as she does get vocal when she hears the door bell, loud noises, sees dogs or sees/hears people outside. Hi, my name is Rosieta but Sieta for short! I’m such a love bug. I was born approximately 12/6/23 and came to NDLB with my eight brothers in February. I am a typical puppy that sleeps a lot but I play hard too. I love to play fetch and most of the time I bring the toy back…I love treats so mom says I will be easy to train. I figured out when I go into my kennel, I get a treat. We have been working on “off” when I jump up and “sit” when I get a treat. I am also learning to come when called. Potty training is a work in progress. I will usually potty outside if you take me out regularly but I still have accidents inside too. I love to snuggle my people and my four legged foster sisters. My sisters are big dogs and are very patient with me. If I get too crazy, they let me know and I respect their corrections. When they are feeling playful, I love playing tug with them! Four little people have visited and boy, do they wear me out! They carry me around and I give them lots of kisses. Everyone says I have the cutest markings on my face. My lower lip looks like I have black lipstick on and my nose looks like I have a paw print printed on it. Speaking of my nose, I use it a lot! You know the best place to use your nose? Outside! Yep, I love being outside, running, soaking up the sun and smelling all the good things out there. I may not be a pedigree but mom says I am the best breed, a rescue. So a dog savvy cat could be ok.  He's a momma's boy, loves to snuggle with his foster mom and he will check to see where I am. He's so excited, though, when my 16-year-old son plays with him. I think he'd do well with kids, just not little kids. He's not real body aware so He's kind of a little toddler tank and he nips/mouths/herds (never hurts) people when he's excited. He loves the snow. It's super cute. He stands with his mouth open for snowflakes and he shovels the snow with his nose.
