Story
Zeus is a sweet, smart, and super cuddly pup with a big heart and even bigger personality! This handsome lil' guy loves to snuggle up at home just as much as he loves to run and play at the dog park. He’s gentle, friendly, and great with people, kids, and other dogs. Zeus is the perfect mix of calm and playful; happy to chill by your side, but always ready for an adventure venture when it’s time for fun. We’re not sure how he feels about cats yet, but he’s proven to be kind and easygoing in every other way. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will make you laugh and melt your heart, Zeus might just be your guy!

Story
Aldo is an approximately 2-3 year old chihuahua that was hit by a car in 2023 and left at the side of the road. He was so lucky to be found by a caring person who rushed him to the vet to help him. Amazingly he did not have any broken bones. Once recovered from his wounds, he needed help learning how to walk again but unfortunately did not have access to supported recovery, so he learned to drag himself around to move from place to place. This resulted in skin wounds and injuries. Since being with Mountainside, Aldo has been learning to walk and not drag. He has gone through rehabilitation to build up the strength in his hind end which was completely atrophied. With love and care from his current foster, he is encouraged to walk and is getting much stronger. He loves people so much as well as other dogs and cats. Aldo is learning to play with his friends and very much enjoys being a lap dog wherever possible. His favourite moves are chin and belly rubs.

Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. No cats as well. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.

Story
Meet Bailey! This wiggly lady has been in our care for a while and is now ready to find her forever home. She has spent some time in a foster home recovering from her recent spay surgery and a minor nasal surgery to help her breathe a little better, and our foster reports that she has been an absolute joy to have in the home. Bailey is an active girl and has been enjoying her regular walks, rain or shine, followed by snuggles up on the couch afterwards. She loves to help out in the kitchen and has been known to get a little underfoot. Bailey may take some time to adjust in a new home with a new routine, but once she's settled she will make a lovely companion.Bailey came from a property with a lot of other dogs, but can be selective about who's company she'd like to keep. She will need slow introductions to other K9 friends, and might not be suitable for the dog park.True to her breed and other brachycephalic dogs, Bailey may have further breathing difficulties in the future. Interested adopters should be aware that she'll need regular vet appointments, limit her exposure to hot weather, and always walk her on a harness so she can continue feeling her best.If you are interested in this star splooter, apply online! She is currently in foster care, so we will be scheduling meets with approved applicants only. Thank you. If you have any questions, reach out to us at the West Van centre. Story
***Currently located in Guerrero, Mexico*** Hello  My name is Briella and I am part of the B-Litter with my sister and my two brothers. When we were born, there were 8 of us and the family that my mom chose to care for us, was super nice, but they couldn't keep us all. So, we came to the shelter in the big city!  I need to admit, that for me everything was very hard. So many new smells, new people and new dogs! I was always very cautious about the humans. After spending over a year at the shelter in Zihuatanejo I have learned that humans definitely can be trusted. They are in fact very nice and are always happy to give me a gentle pet on the head or scratch my chin (favorite spot!! ) It will take me only a few moments to warm up to women, but I will need a bit more time with men. When I trust you, I give you my heart and all my love. I am very submissive and try to please you as well as I can! I will follow you around everywhere you go and when you stop and notice me and give me some cuddles, I am the happiest girl in the world! In the shelter we sleep in crates at night and I am totally fine with that. The other dogs are actually quite cool and I enjoy playing with them! I am very submissive and no dog has ever gotten into a fight with me - even though we had quite a few rowdies since I am here! - because I will just roll under them and show a lot of puppy behvaiour, so they know I am not a threat! Cats don't really bother me, they are just chilling and I am not afraid of them, which makes me think, I am very courageous! I am curious about new things, I will not hide, I am usually inspecting the new situation from a little distance. I really would love to have a home, with patient and calm people, that already have dog experience. Being part of a family is my biggest dream!  Another dog would also be great for me to learn from him/her and to give me confidence!  Hope to hear from you!
