Story
Zeus is a sweet, smart, and super cuddly pup with a big heart and even bigger personality! This handsome lil' guy loves to snuggle up at home just as much as he loves to run and play at the dog park. He’s gentle, friendly, and great with people, kids, and other dogs. Zeus is the perfect mix of calm and playful; happy to chill by your side, but always ready for an adventure venture when it’s time for fun. We’re not sure how he feels about cats yet, but he’s proven to be kind and easygoing in every other way. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will make you laugh and melt your heart, Zeus might just be your guy!

Story
Aldo is an approximately 2-3 year old chihuahua that was hit by a car in 2023 and left at the side of the road. He was so lucky to be found by a caring person who rushed him to the vet to help him. Amazingly he did not have any broken bones. Once recovered from his wounds, he needed help learning how to walk again but unfortunately did not have access to supported recovery, so he learned to drag himself around to move from place to place. This resulted in skin wounds and injuries. Since being with Mountainside, Aldo has been learning to walk and not drag. He has gone through rehabilitation to build up the strength in his hind end which was completely atrophied. With love and care from his current foster, he is encouraged to walk and is getting much stronger. He loves people so much as well as other dogs and cats. Aldo is learning to play with his friends and very much enjoys being a lap dog wherever possible. His favourite moves are chin and belly rubs.

Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. No cats as well. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.

Story
Meet Athena!Athena is a sweet, affectionate girl looking for her furever home. She is equal parts cuddle bug and adventure buddy, with lots of energy and love to give. True to her sensitive pittie nature, she is not a fan of the rain but absolutely loves being close to her people.Athena recently raised a litter of puppies, and now that her mom duties are done, she is ready to find a home of her very own. She adores affection, happily gives kisses, and enjoys being involved in everything her people are doing. She can get a bit excited and is still working on her manners, such as not jumping up, so she will thrive with an adopter who is keen to continue her training. From her previous owners, we know Athena is crate trained and generally settles well, though she can be vocal at times. She may be dog selective and will need thoughtful introductions, but she has lived with another dog her entire life and may do well in a home with another dog, depending on how a meet goes. She came into our care with Tyson, and they may also do well together in a home. Athena can also be a little nervous in the car and would benefit from gradual, positive experiences to help build her confidence.Athena does have a chicken allergy and a history of ear infections, which will need ongoing management in her new home. With the right care, patience, and love, Athena will be a deeply loyal and affectionate companion who simply wants to be close to her people.Athena is being spayed on February 7th, so we are currently looking for local adopters who can take her to and from her appointment on the North Shore.Come by the West Vancouver location to meet sweet Athena! Our adoption hours are 12pm to 3pm Tuesdays to Sundays. While we welcome online applications, we prioritize in person meets/ applications. Story
Meet Kronk!Kronk is a 2-year-old, fun-loving go-getter who believes life is best enjoyed right by your side. He's a friendly, playful guy who loves making new friends, chasing toys, and sniffing out treats. Loyal to the core, Kronk is happiest when he's close to his people and part of the action.Kronk found his way into the BCSPA with a broken leg requiring urgent medical care. Thankfully, with the help of wonderful donors like you, Kronk was able to save his leg and get the much needed FHO surgery he required! What Kronk is looking for:- A calm, patient home with a predictable routine.- A house with a yard to provide exercise and potty breaks hands off. Kronk has had a few scenarios with staff and is becoming jumpy and mouthy, so a safe enclosed yard is ideal while he settles into his new home.- A family that can spend plenty of time with him, and won't leave him for long periods.- Continued positive-reinforcement training with an AnimalKind trainer.- Help with recovering from his recent surgery (FHO), and working with a vet on his anxiety-reducing medication. Kronk has become frustrated living and recovering in the centre setting and needs a home that can manage him and give him safe options for enrichment and exercise. If you're looking for a devoted companion with a joyful spirit, Kronk might just be your guy! Stop by the shelter between 12pm-3pm Tuesday-Sunday to meet him in person. We welcome online applications, but we prioritize in-person meetings and applications.
