Story
Adopted at Animal Control under the name "Ice" w/ given age 5 yrs. But my veterinarian found him to be closer to 1 or 2 yrs bc of recent loss of baby teeth. Renamed Romeo for his loving personality- kisses people & dogs- he is healthy, very active, & submissive, but also an ESCAPE artist - hates a crate! He was easily house-trained, doesn't bite or bark, but vocalizes when excited & can say "I love you" & "Ro-ro run-run" to ask for dog park. Major love is running w/ dogs at dog park! He prefers nonaggressive, younger dogs, male or female; will retreat if treated roughly. He also like leash walks, car rides & water play w/senior dog sisters & his human who cant keep up w/ him bc too old & need surgeries. Strong prey drive-chases squirrels, lizards, cats, possums. Sleeps w/ his human, or on floor in cozy space. Will growl to protect food bc starved in former home. Must have another dog playmate in home. Prefer a house for ZOOMIES bc he is a big, strong boy. Stands 32" to ear tips.

Story
Buddy is 2 1/2 years old and has magical ears! He is about 35 pounds and is a lab/terrier/pit mix. He is active and playful, loves to eat, good with kids and housebroken. He loves to go on runs. Being rehomed due to family's allergies. Buddy is wary of strangers and will go to get his security blankie or hide under the bed if he feels insecure. Generally ignores other dogs and likes to stick by his people. Buddy would do great in a calm home, either with or without a companion dog. A fenced yard would be a big bonus! Buddy is in our direct from owner program. Chesed Rescue will process all applications for him but his adoption will come directly from his current owners. There is no adoption fee (though donations to the rescue are always appreciated). Adopter will need to have Buddy neutered and brought up to date on vaccinations. Applications for Buddy are available at www.chesed-rescue.org/adoptions December 31, 2025, 2:50 pm

Story
This plucky little guy will get you with his puppy dog eyes. We believe he is a mix of mini Schnauzer and Westie. At about 9 months old, he weighs 15 pounds and should max out at 20 pounds. Mendy needs surgery to fix a congenital condition (Legg-Calves-Perthes Disease) causing pain in his rear leg and making it difficult for him to walk. He may never have a perfect gait, but the surgery should eliminate any pain. We are hoping to do his surgery in the next week. Mendy loves all humans and doesn't believe in personal space, however he does not seem to be fond of other dogs. Hopefully as he settles into his foster home and begins training, he will begin to accept other animals. Mendy is already neutered and up to date on vaccinations and heartworm testing. Applications for Mendy can be found at www.chesed-rescue.org/adoptions. We background and vet check all applicants and are looking for stable homes. January 5, 2026, 6:58 pm

Story
Goldie is a 5 year old, 12 pound girl. We believe she is a Chihuahua/Yorkie mix. (Probably not hypoallergenic). Spayed and up to date on vaccines. She loves all humans (though she can be a touch shy at first) and likes to be with them at all times. Always looking for a lap to sit on and begs for attention with her paws. Housebroken (pee pads or outside). Gets along great with other small dogs, crate trained. Will bark if there is something exciting going on outside. Would be great for a young retiree. Applications for Goldie are available at www.chesed-rescue.org/adoptions We background and vet check all applicants and are looking for stable homes.  October 7, 2025, 6:28 pm
