Story
Handsome-boy Tonka needs a miracle. Due to a drastic change in his owner’s life, Tonka finds himself immediately in-need of a new foster and/or forever home. We know this is a big ask…as this BIG boy has quite a few specific requirements…but we are hopeful that his gorgeously giant smush-face will capture someone’s heart *just* enough to prompt them to give him a shot/bring him home!  Tonka’s details: 6 years old Is a mastiff/bloodhound mix Dog-friendly (Tonka LOVES other dogs! He actually tends to warm up more quickly to humans if there are other dogs around, and would prefer another dog in the home to romp around and explore with. He has done wonderfully with every single dog he’s met! ).  Does ok with dog-savvy cats. If the kitties don’t run, he does just fine…however if they do run, he will chase/terrorize them! Rides very well in a vehicle!  Is extremely loyal, loving, mellow, and snuggly. Fully potty-trained Loves to lounge, is incredibly smart, and doesn’t chew on anything he shouldn’t.  Tonka’s home requirements: Tonka’s #1 setback is that he has “stranger danger.” He is NOT a dog who’s able to be immediately approached by new humans. Therefore any introductions with him need to be slow and proper (no staring, no sudden behaviors/quick movements, no reaching hands toward him, no pets until he’s ready…& REALLY good treats!), with a calm, understanding, and patient demeanor. It can take anywhere from 30mins to several days for Tonka to fully adjust to new people…but once he does, you are “in” with him and he is SO faithful and SO loving! His person will need to be his advocate, as any/all encounters he makes should strictly follow the above guidelines. NO kids! He has a protective nature, and children come with more commotion + more noise. Therefore a kiddo-free environment is a must.  Much prefers females over males. Tonka’s past – before rescue – could’ve definitely held some misuse by a male figure in his life. He undoubtedly gravitates toward women, so would thrive with a single, confident female. Otherwise a couple [with a very patient male] could also prove to be the perfect placement! Toys and treats (especially if they include peanut butter! ) aplenty are a MUST! If living in town, a fenced-in, private yard is a necessity. He will react to/bark at (& has quite the BIG bark!) people walking by…and so quiet, country-living would be most ideal. More than anything, Tonka yearns for LOVE! If you show him compassion and earn his trust, he is amazing beyond measure! If you’re willing to give him that chance, he promises to return that love for the rest of his days.  APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com Tonka is an eligible foster-to-adopt candidate, so please private message us with any interest/additional questions ##1983835##

Story
Atlas - Energetic, snuggly 8 month old looking for his soulmate   In his short life Atlas has been bounced around a lot. Recently, he has been learning a lot including confidence and trust in his humans. It took Atlas about a month to decompress at his current foster home so he will require patience, trust, and a lot of positive reinforcement. He has so much love to give we know it’ll be worth it! He's so eager to please his humans in the house and will need to be supervised, corrected (when necessary), and given positive reinforcement for him to be a successful dog. He response well to a confident human so an experienced owner is recommended for Atlas. Atlas will require a slow introduction to other dogs as he doesn't like them in his face right when they meet (As is common in many dogs). After 10-15 minutes, when he’s comfortable, he will initiate play.  Atlas does enjoy wrestling with his 3 foster fur siblings, however, it will take him a while to adjust to not only a new doggie friend, but also a new routine and new home environment.  He loves to chase, wrestle, and howl when he's ready to play. Atlas can get a little jealous when the other dogs try to snuggle with his foster mom, but he takes corrects well and backs off. He loves women and loves his current foster dad, but sometimes, he is fearful of other men. He has been going out in public stores and working on his confidence. He loves getting treats from new friends, so we highly encourage his new family to continue doing that for positive experiences.  Atlas has been working very hard on his manners with the resident kitty. It took him a few weeks to understand he can't play with the cat whenever he wants. He is allowing the kitty to walk around the house without trying to chase her. He will do best with a dog savy cat or a home without a kitty friend.  Atlas is also working hard on his manners! He sits and waits until the food bowl is on the ground. He is also learning sit and wait hand signals and knows lay down. He take treats nicely, but if he gets a little too excited, he knows "nice". Atlas has great recall. He is such a human pleaser that he doesn't like to go far from them. He LOVES fetch! He loved all the toys but loves playing fetch. He will bring the ball back and drop it without you needing to tell him.  crate trained but is a big fan of cuddling with his humans Potty trained but it’s common for dogs especially ones who have been bounced around to need an adjustment period so he may have initial accidents in a new home okay with kids who are calmer and let him come on his terms but with a dog that is more on the shy/scared side, he needs to build trust with everyone he meets so we recommend no kids under 8.  loves being told when hes a "good boy". If you’re interested in adopting Atlas, and are Pre-approved, please private message us, or APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!) **Atlas’s  $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, heartworm test, current vet check, and microchip. ##2302886##

Story
Meet Mama Zola!  This 2-year-old terrier mix (a perfect 40 pounds of love and zoomies!) has already raised six beautiful pups — the famous Z Pups! — and now it’s her turn to find the happy ending she deserves.   Zola may be deaf, but don’t let that fool you — this clever girl doesn’t miss a thing! She’s thriving with her training collar, which helps her understand gentle cues since she can’t hear. She’s incredibly responsive, eager to please, and quick to learn new routines.   She’s also fully potty trained, crate trained, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids. Zola loves people with her whole heart and brings her joyful energy to every moment.   True to her terrier spirit, she’s a higher-energy gal who’s always up for an adventure — walks, playtime, car rides, or cuddles on the couch.   After giving her all to raise her six puppies, Mama Zola is ready to be someone’s baby at last.   If that someone could be you, and you’re Pre-approved, please private message us, or APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com   **Zola’s adoption fee is $200 and will include current vet check, spay, UTD vaccinations, microchip, and current HW test. ##2544350##

Story
Clover is settling in and doing great at his foster home but he is more than ready to find his furever home .    Clover is a 6 year old shepherd mix who’s a big boy weighing in at 94lbs. His previous owner was forced to give him up after being no longer able to care for him. Despite this huge change he adapted well to life at his foster home.    This gentle giant loves humans of all sizes but especially children . He has been used to being the only dog but has done fine in with his 4 legged foster sibling, although he isn’t much for playing. Clover has also done well around cats although sometimes he can seem a bit stressed around them.    His favorite thing to do is to play fetch. He would do this for hours if he was allowed! He does kennel fairly well but prefers not to have the door closed. Clover also does well roaming the house. He is fully potty trained and will let you know if he has to go outside.    Clover has a lot of love to give and is at the perfect age to do just that     If you’re interested in adopting Clover, and are Pre-approved, please private message us, or APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!)   **Clover’s $200 adoption fee includes UTD vaccinations, heartworm test, current vet check, and microchip. ##2452443##
