Story
Life goals?? To have someone look at you the way Luna looks at a tennis ball or a stick… Lovable miss-Luna is as ready as ever to land herself a forever family of her own, and one that’s willing to play endless fetch would be her DREAM! Luna (female) is a 3 year old silver lab who joined the New Leash family in pretty poor physical condition due to some negligence + thyroid levels that cause hair loss & needed some medication/maintenance. Fast-forward to today…Luna is doing pretty incredible! Her foster family has shown her the unconditional love she’s never known, her fur is filling in nicely, and she is ready for a forever kind of love! More about Luna:  50lbs 100% potty-trained  crate-trained  a well-mannered girl who is a good listener!   LOVES car rides (copilot, anyone? )  will show off her tricks for some yummy treats!  affectionate & loving (kisses, cuddles, belly rubs…you name it! )  would play fetch all day, every day if you’d let her!   continuing to work on her leash etiquette (which she previously had no concept of), and is improving every single day!  ADORES her people! More about Luna’s home requirements:  A fenced-in yard would be her dream, because: 1. alllllll the fetch and 2. roaming + sniffing to her heart’s content!  Being the only dog would be ideal. Luna is your typical “covid dog,” so the socialization skills she should’ve received as a puppy are nonexistent. Her initial reaction is to become quite anxious around new dogs…so if she’s not the only dog in the home, she’d require a low-key, non-reactive 4-legged friend. She would also need to do several meet & greets with him/her prior to adoption! She continues to learn “how to dog” every single day. Has been around kiddos as young as 5 years and done wonderfully, so would do just fine with children of most all ages!  Luna is in-need of a new foster and/or forever home by Saturday, September 23rd. She is eligible for our foster-to-adopt program, so please reach out if you think she possibly sounds like a good fit for you. APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com **Luna’s $200 adoption fee includes her spay, vaccinations, heartworm test, and microchip. ##1817860##

Story
Some of you may remember Kyle/Kye from his original post back in November where we were hoping to spring him from the shelter in which he had spent his entire life. Well, one of our wonderful fosters offered to take him in, and now, the only thing that would make him even happier is finding his furever home! Kye, brother to Knox, was born 3/31/2022 in an Iowa shelter to a German Shepherd Mix Mama (Daddy is unknown). He then spent his entire life there until last month when he joined our rescue. Against the odds Kye, also known as Kyle, is gentle, calm, sweet and loving. Here’s a bit more about Kye: 45 lbs but could stand to gain a few pounds Gentle Loving Soul Good with kids - Kye has been great with the 4 year old grandchild in his foster home and enjoys playing fetch with him!  Does well on a leash  Good with larger dogs and puppies Doing well on potty training but will continue to need a consistent routine Not a chewer but is still learning what toys are  Since Kye only knew shelter life until recently he will need a patient and understanding family. Transition into a new home and new family may take a bit of time for Kye but he promises to make it worthwhile!  Kye’s adoption fee is $200 which covers his neuter, microchip and up to date vaccinations.  If you’re interested in adoption and are pre-approved please private message us otherwise apply at newleashdogrescue.com ##1886609##

Ok friends…we just can’t BELIEVE some lucky family hasn’t scooped this handsome boy up yet!? Petey is as goofy as ever, is the biggest + bestest lap buddy , and is as ready as ever to find a forever home of his very own! More about Petey:  9 months old 75 pounds (he’s a big boy!)  lab and/or Great Dane/shepherd cross (to the best of our knowledge ‍)  Loves to go for hikes, car rides, and walks (+ has good leash skills! ) Will [literally] watch tv with you Enjoys play dates with other active dogs! Cuddles like a pro when he’s not playing Gets *every* use out of any toy given to him! Knows: sit, come, stay, back, and off (treats are always a plus!)  Needs slow introductions with new people, as he can be a bit timid Is used to being around feathered friends & cats Potty-trained AND kennel-trained! Older kids are preferred…as he doesn’t understand his size!  APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!)  **Petey’s $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test, and microchip. ##1913792##

Story
Sweet-boy Gus has been waiting far. too. long. for his forever family to find him! And quite honestly, we don’t understand why…this boy is as good as it gets! Gus (male) is one of mama Charlotte’s litter; he was was born on 8/5/23, so is now just under 8 months old. The siblings’ vet papers list them as heeler/boxer mixes, but mama Charlotte is brindle (we’ll post her photo in the comments) and most definitely could have some pittie mixed in as well. Really, your guess is as good as ours! ‍ We just know that Gus is cuter than all get out…and has the most loving personality to match! Gus currently weighs-in at 40-45lbs, and likely could end up @ 55-60(ish)lbs when fully grown. Some of his favorite things include: playing outside, romping around with his 4-legged friends, playing with toys and sticks, and CUDDLING! He love, love, lovessss to snuggle his humans! His sweetness is apparent as soon as you meet him, and he gets along with everyone…other dogs (of all ages/sizes), cats, and kids included! He’d make the most perfect family dog. And he’d especially adore his forever home having another pup-mate for him to play with! Gus is — for the most part (some transition time to be expected, of course) — potty-trained; he does quite perfectly when provided a solid schedule. He is crate-trained and does just fine in his kennel. He truly is amazing! And you could make this amazing boy all yours! If you’d like to make him the newest member of your family, please apply + reach out via private message. Just ask for Gus! APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!)  **Gus’ $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, and microchip. ##1850594##

Story
Look at this dapper dude!! Everyone meet Phil. This handsome boy came from a partner shelter of ours in Iowa, where (sadly) he was the only pup left in the litter without adoption interest. So after having been born in the shelter [as the runt of the litter nonetheless] and living the first 9 months of his life there…Phil’s outlook on life was declining. He wasn’t eating, was letting out the saddest cries, and overall had such a depressed demeanor. One of our generous fosters agreed to bring him in and show him just how amazing home-life can be! And as you can tell by his smile, Phil couldn’t be more grateful!! Phil (male) was born on 3/2/23. He is listed as a german shepherd mix, but we aren’t totally sure what his breed makeup is! Being the runt, he isn’t all too large…weighing-in right around 45-50lbs. He is a SWEET boy who was meant to live a life full of snuggles! His favorite place is on his foster mom’s lap, cuddled in tight with his head on her arm or leg. He would love nothing more than to find a forever snuggle-buddy! Phil gets along great with kids and other dogs. He loves to play and wrestle with the younger dog in his foster home! His favorite toys are stuffed animals, but does enjoy toys of all types. He is potty trained and kennel-trained, but does get a bit sad when he’s initially crated.  Phil does tend to gravitate more towards females and children vs males,  but now that he has been in his foster home for a while---he loves both the males and females in the home. Overall, he is so incredibly sweet and just so easy to love. So if you think he sounds like the perfect fit for you, please apply + reach out via private message. Just ask for Phil!  APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!) **Phil’s $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. ##1941268##
