Story
Zuko was adopted in 2021 from an accidental litter near my home. He was born in August, and turns 4 this year. Zuko needs room to run, and people to cuddle him. He is a lover of a dog and enjoys being loved on. He loves toys, balls and bones. Zuko is high energy, but low maintenance. He is not suitable for an apartment, because he will bark when he needs to go out. Im looking for someone who is willing to play with him, take him to walk or have a fenced in yard/outside area he is able to run in. He gets along with our other dog, but unfortunately can be dog reactive with others. He has had no issues with the child in the home or children outside the home. He has always been an anxious dog but has never shown any signs of aggression due to it, he just runs away from things he doesnt like. He is caged trained, potty trained, and eats dry food. Zuko is behind on shots.

Story
Meet ROSIE, a little over a year Shepherd mix. She was found at Clendening Lake with 2 other dogs, all skin and bones. The original owner surfaced online. She didnt live anywhere near this county and claimed she gave them away to someone who also gave them away, but no names could be recalled. The other 2 girls who came in with ROSIE have been adopted so that leaves ROSIE without a family to call her own. ROSIE has been taking part in the Cell Dog Training Program at the Belmont Correctional Institution (BeCI) where she has learned basic obedience and housebreaking. She is a sweet girl who can be timid upon meeting new people. She is afraid of kids so she won't be placed with a family with young children. ROSIE is good with other dogs but can sometimes want to be the alpha so a more submissive friend would be preferred. We don't know about cats. She is fully vetted and housebroken and ready to join a family. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43907 Open: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 9am-2pm; Closed Sundays and holidays. Out of state adoptions welcomed. Applications are available at the pound and online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers, org. Apple users must access our website and submit application using Google, not Safari. $40 adoption fee. 740-942-4080

Story
PETEY is a 2-3 year old Treeing Walker Coonie who has visited the pound on multiple occasions because he was allowed to roam the county by his previous owner. After being cited countless times in the last 13 months, this time, his never came to claim PETEY. And that's just fine with PETEY. PETEY is a wonderful boy who is sweet, loving and affectionate. He loves to run and play, and go for long walks. One thing you should know about PETEY is he's smart. Not just your average smart, but SMART. In fact, he's probably smarter than many people. So you need to be smarter because PETEY will compete with you. We have 8 foot fencing around his kennel (inside and out). He climbed right over it. So, we put up a tarp over his outside kennel thinking he wouldn't be able to climb over the inside one.. Guess what? So, we put a tarp up over that one too. That worked, but when he thinks we aren't watching him, we see him looking at that tarp trying to figure out how to get past it and as soon as he sees us looking at him, he quickly lays down with a look of pure innocence on his face. We have 8 foot fencing around the yard too, but that's topped with razor wire and he is smart enough to know not to attempt an escape. So, unless you have a kennel area outside with a roof, PETEY shouldn't be left outside unsupervised. We also have his baby mama at the pound. He gets along with female dogs and some male dogs. PETEY is housebroken, well mannered and he may require you to put on your thinking cap a time or two, he is well-worth it. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd.
