Story

This is Sugar, a 7-year-old hound/shepherd mix I adopted from the Pound when she was about a year old. She has been my best friend for years, but with recent life changes and now having a young child, I can no longer give her the life and environment she needs. Sugar is very loving, loyal, and sweet with my wife and me. She has plenty of energy and loves to run, so she’d do best with someone active who can spend time with her. That being said, she does come with some challenges and needs the right fit: She does not take well to men. She’s generally done well with women but has shown protective behavior in our home, including attempting to bite when strangers (men) come in. She lives with two other dogs now, but it took a long adjustment period and she started fights. She was food aggressive at first, so we’ve always fed separately. Ideally, she would thrive as an only dog. She has done ok with our baby so far, but I don’t feel I can fully trust her around young children long-term.

Sugars pups are purebred Great Pyrenees born 11/13/25. Mom and dad are both Livestock guardian dogs and Mom was surrendered to us due to some family health issues. 4 females, 2 males, of which one male is already pending adoption. Pups will have their vet exam, fecal, deworming, spay/neuter, microchip and started on heartworm/flea/tick prev. Adoption fee is $400.00 Fill out an application @ http://www.saveamomrescue.com. Be sure to notify your vet that it's ok to give us a reference when we call there. Meet and greets will be scheduled by appointment for Jan 17th from approved app's. Sugar will be available after her milk dries up and she goes in for her spay.

Meet Siri Siri came into rescue after she whelped her pups in a cow barn. She was an excellent momma. After weaning her pups she needed to be treated for heartworms.. She has now finally been spayed and ready for a new home. She is dog selective. Does fine with younger pups and adult dogs that are not bouncing in her face or confronting her. She is not cat friendly. She is very people friendly and loves to go for walks. She would do best with children 10 yrs and older. Siri is about 3 yrs old and 65 lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm/flea/tick prevention.
