BONDED PAIR WITH LULU! PLEASE SEE LISTING FOR LULU! LULU AND DUKE MAY POTENTIALLY BE ADOPTED SEPARATELY, BUT IT IS PREFERRED THAT THEY ARE ADOPTED TOGETHER! Duke and Lulu are a bonded pair who came into rescue following the death of their owner and loss of their home. As expected after all the changes in their environment and family dynamic the past six months, they seek lots of attention. Both are affectionate, playful and eager to please and would do well in a structured environment with humans who can give them the time and attention they need. Duke seems to be the strong silent type – sitting back observing and taking his cues from Lulu. He warms up right away, while she needs a little time to get comfortable with new people. Both travel in the car extremely well, are crate trained, and have lived peacefully with several inside/outside cats. Their roommates/caretakers report they have high prey drive and do not like Chihuahuas. As far as exposure to children, they have only encountered a 12YO nephew a few times. They both listen considerably well, but could use general manners reinforcement and leash work. If you’re looking to add a pair of loveable, entertaining, in-your-face Danes to your family, then these two are for you! Stay tuned for updates. Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption. DUKE UPDATE APRIL 2026 Duke has been moved to a NJ foster home and will begin treatment for heartworm, sadly Duke tested positive for Heartworm but not to worry, he will start treatment soon and then will be ready for adoption! Duke is a lovely boy, so friendly and a cuddle bug. He is being spoiled in his foster home until he starts the injections to kill the heartworms, then will have to go on crate rest. Fortunately, Duke is crate trained and learning to walk nicely on a leash. His first vet visit went well, he made lots of friends at his new vet office. Keep your eye on this one, once ready, Duke will be an amazing addition to any home. For more information on this dog and our adoption policies, visit MAGDRL at https://www.magdrl.org. Lulu has completed her heartworm treatment and is ready to go to her forever home, and whoever that will be will be getting a gem of a Great Dane! Lulu has become a part of the pack and is just the perfect, giant marshmallow! If youre looking for a 100+ lb lap dog, look no further. Lulu would thrive in a home with kids of any age as long as they understand being respectful of dog boundaries. Shes become extremely close with our 3 year old toddler and they have become each others jungle gyms. But above all, Lulus best friend has become our blind/deaf/toothless cat. She loves tormenting Artemis (gently but with agressive love) and equally loves snuggling up with him for naps (which is 85% of the day). Lulu has also started playing more with resident pup, Brie! This has been a slow progression as shes been on bedrest for her heartworm treatment which she completed like a champ. Now, her days are spent doing zoomies (which last about 10 full minutes on a good day) with Brie. At first, Lulu wasnt keen on sharing her kibble with her housemates but that quickly became a non-issue once she realized the goodies that everyone got daily! Now she happily shares sniffs with her foster siblings. But please note: she will not touch her kibble unless it is adequately drenched in water (dry kibble only is for peasants according to Lulu). Lulu is currently living with a toddler, special needs cat, dogs, chickens Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption. Good with dogs,
Story
Oakley came into rescue through a veterinary office. He was a under weight, neutered 5 1/2 yrs old who needed time to decompress. He is unknown to young children. However, he is good with children 11 years and up. He is having a great time playing with his new dog friend in his foster home. He has a big appetite, eats 3 times a day, and is one of the sweetest Danes you'll ever meet. He does have Addisons disease but this can be helped with a bit of prednisone. He also has pancreatic insufficiency, an enlarged heart, and Giardia but we are continuing to obtain medical services for him. He is not aware of his size so he will need direction when playing too rough. He will have a training contract as he loves to go for walks. However, if given enough lead he will pull you over. He is unknown with cats. If you're interested in a sweet Dane who loves walks and is a joy to be around, Oakley is your boy! Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption. Story
Kira is looking for a fresh start in life. Kira came to us after having been hit by a car which resulted in her having to lose her eye but she doesn't let that stop her. She is back to full health and loving life! Kira is a 2-year old, dog friendly, loves stuffies and bones but most of all she loves to be with her people. We would assume she would be good with kids and cats but we haven't seen her around them, yet. Kira is doing well with house training and is crate trained. Have a fenced yard? She loves to romp around and get her energy out. Think Kira would be the perfect fit? Story
Luna is a lovable, female bully. She is approximately 4 years old and is absolutely adorable. She loves people, especially kids, and gets along well with cats. She has a lot of trauma from other dogs (she is a shelter rescue from Oklahoma) so she may not be best suited for homes with other dogs. However, she does have a big sister (Anatolian mix named Freya) who she gets along great with if you are interested in rescuing two pups :) Luna loves to snuggle, give kisses, and play outside. She adores walks and pets. She has no major health issues and is house trained, potty trained, leash trained, and even off-leash trained. If you are looking for a cozy pup to snuggle and have some outdoor adventures with, Luna is the dog for you!
