Meet Basil! This beautiful Hound/Terrier mix is about 1 year old, weighs 41 pounds, and is ready to start a brand-new chapter. Basil came to us from another rescue after she was found in poor condition and heavily pregnant. She has since given birth, and we’ve been working hard to help her get healthy and ready for the next stage of her life. Now she’s ready for adoption—and, most importantly, she is ready to never have to give birth again! Basil is a friendly, intelligent, curious, and vocal young lady who has plenty of personality. She’s moderately active and enjoys being out and about, although she’ll let you know if she has an opinion to share! She can be a picky eater, but we think that’s just another part of her charming personality. Basil is open to meeting other dogs, can be cat tested, and we think she’d do well with kids. After starting life as a young mom under difficult circumstances, Basil deserves the chance to simply be a dog—to explore, play, be loved, and have someone take care of her for a change. Meet Ollie! This adorable 2-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix weighs just 12 pounds and is a very sweet, gentle, and timid little guy. Ollie’s favorite place to be is in someone’s arms, where he can happily settle in for some serious cuddling. He can be cautious around new people and skittish in unfamiliar situations, so he’ll need an adopter who is willing to give him time to feel comfortable and build confidence. Because he can be nervous and quick to startle, his new family will need to be especially careful around open doors and gates while he’s settling into his new home. Ollie would do best with older children who understand that he doesn’t enjoy fast movements or having his feet handled. Once he trusts you, though, this little lap dog is all about being close to his people. At just 12 pounds and with relatively low-key needs, he could do very well in an apartment as long as he gets his regular walks and attention. Meet Luna, a very special 6-year-old French Bulldog who is looking for a very special person. Luna was surrendered by her owner and, unfortunately, has significant medical needs that will require ongoing veterinary care. Her eye is our biggest concern right now, and she also has difficulty breathing. She is overweight and has low energy, so for now she enjoys short, easy walks and plenty of relaxing. Luna will need someone who is financially prepared for the medical care that comes with her breed—this is definitely a girl who needs an adopter with deep pockets and a big heart. We are currently looking for a foster with intent to adopt once Luna has surgery to address her breathing and we have a better understanding of what is happening with her eye. Despite everything she’s dealing with, Luna is an absolute sweetheart. She is very friendly, loves getting pets and scritchies, and would happily spend her days sitting on your lap soaking up attention. She gets along with dogs and kids and can be cat tested if needed. She’s still working on her leash manners, so continued training and consistency will help her learn to walk politely alongside her people. Once she trusts someone, she is affectionate and loves being with her people. Amanda is socially selective, however, and she needs an adopter who understands that not every dog is comfortable with everyone and who is willing to create an environment where she can feel secure and successful.
