Story
Welcome boxer and senior dog lovers! This handsome, salt-and-pepper fellow is Pierre, a 9-year old boxer patiently waiting for someone to love and share his golden years with in his forever home. Pierre is a people-oriented guy and adores his humans. While he is living in a multi-dog foster home and has made several canine friends there, he would very much enjoy being the center of attention as an only dog in his forever home. When he came to the rescue, Pierre was a bit frail and underweight. As his weight, muscle tone, and overall health improved, so did his strength. He is in excellent condition and health for a dog in his season of life. Pierre walks well on leash and also enjoys moderate hikes. He adores a good car ride, snuggles on the couch, or just chilling on the floor while the humans do their thing. Pierre is crate-trained and rests nicely in crate when his foster family is at work. Pierre would benefit from a schedule where he can have pottery breaks during the day. He would be excellent for someone who has a flexible schedule. Pierre is microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, is on tick/heartworm preventatives. He had senior bloodwork done before receiving a dental to freshen up that cute mouth of his. Pierre is being fostered in north-eastern Lancaster county/edge of Berks and potential adopters should be willing to travel to meet him. If Pierre sounds like the guy for you, head on over to www.zoeshouserescue.com and complete an adoption application through his profile. Please note: We do not always receive applications submitted through adoptapet or petfinder. Kennel license 9117 Reading, Pa 19608

Story
Hi everyone! My name is Mindy. I am believed to be an 18 month old pitty mix. My human mom passed away recently leaving my pack of 3 brokenhearted, scared and unsure of our future. Luckily, along our sad confusing journey we’ve met some new friends that found my 2 sisters loving homes. Now I’m the only one left. My entire life as I knew it, has been completely turned upside down. Our momma loved us dearly. She was all we ever had and knew. But, my new friends are finding that I am a very smart , loving and courageous young lady even though I am scared to death. If you are lonely and thinking about a companion, please consider me. I would be extremely happy to have a new mom. I am a snuggler and give lots of kisses once I get to know you.

Story
Meet Trixie! Trixie is a 5-year-old Bichon with a big personality packed into a tiny 11lb frame. She loves her daily walks and any excuse to spend time outside, showing off her pep in every step. When she’s not exploring, she loves looking at herself in the mirror—it’s clear she knows she’s adorable! Trixie has a wonderful appetite - though she doesn't have any teeth. She gets along well with other dogs, and is gentle with kids. While she isn’t very playful, she thrives on companionship and enjoys simply being part of the action. She isn’t house trained just yet, but with patience and routine, she’ll continue learning. This sweet girl walks beautifully on leash, requires regular grooming to keep her coat fluffy and fresh, and is ready to brighten her forever family’s days with her charm and affection. Trixie is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, microchipped, and has a clean bill of health from the vet! Please apply on our website! Story
Emmett is a small, senior dog with a big personality and a strong sense of independence. He’s looking for a calm, adult-only home where he can feel safe and respected. Emmett does not like to be handled or picked up, so his ideal adopter will be someone who understands his boundaries and can give him the space he needs to thrive. While Emmett lives with other dogs, he isn’t interested in close canine relationships and prefers to keep his distance. He would do best as an only pet. A securely fenced yard is essential for this independent pup, giving him a safe place to explore and decompress. Emmett is potty trained but may mark in the house if another dog isn’t fully housebroken. He’s great on a leash and enjoys slow, steady walks, making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a relaxed pace. Emmett’s favorite activities include burrowing under blankets, playing with anything that squeaks, relaxing in his crate, and occasionally curling up nearby when he feels ready for affection. Emmett does have advanced dental disease, which cannot be treated surgically due to his grade 4 heart murmur. He is on lifetime medication to manage his condition, and his adopter will need to be committed to ongoing care. Despite these challenges, Emmett is full of spunk and ready to enjoy his golden years in a loving home. If you’re an experienced dog owner with a calm, patient home, no other pets, and a securely fenced yard, Emmett could be the perfect match. He’s neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and ready to find his forever family. Apply today to give this special senior the understanding and comfort he deserves!

Story
Gem is a four-year-old German Shorthair Pointer (GSP) with a zest for life and a loving nature. Like most GSPs, she’s full of energy and thrives in a home that can keep up with her active lifestyle. Whether it’s hiking, running, or exploring the great outdoors, Gem is ready to be your adventure buddy. After a day of activity, she loves nothing more than to settle down for some quality snuggle time with her favorite people. Her favorite thing, beyond anything else, is to be right by her person's side. Gem is well-mannered and has a solid foundation of basic training. She’s potty trained, walks well on a leash, and has reliable recall skills, making her a joy to take on outings. However, her hunting breed instincts are strong, and she has a high prey drive, so she requires a secure, tall, physically fenced yard (no electric fences or tie outs) to safely burn off her energy. Gem’s ideal home is a single-family home with plenty of space and a secure yard, as she needs room to run and play. She is not a good fit for renters or homes with restrictions on outdoor space. Due to her desire to chase, Gem is also not suitable for a home with cats or small animals. She lives in a foster home with six other dogs and gets along well with them, so she would love another canine companion, but would also do well as an only dog! While Gem is friendly and affectionate, she can get nervous in certain situations. For this reason, she would do best in a home with children aged 15 or older who can understand and respect her boundaries. She’s crate-trained and is most comfortable and will need to be crated when her family isn’t home, which helps her feel safe and secure. Gem is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, so she’s ready to transition smoothly into her new home. Her ideal family will not only appreciate her energetic and playful nature but also provide the structure and understanding she needs. If you’re looking for a loyal, active companion and are willing to travel to Reading, PA, to meet her, Gem could be the perfect fit!
