Story
We got Gunner when he was 10 months old from a previous couple who was rehoming him due to having a newborn and toddler, so they couldn’t give him the attention he needed. He just turned 5 in October and is the most energetic happy boy. He loves to go on runs. He is very skittish around strangers so he’ll bark at first but he’s very friendly and lovable. He also does have a genetic skin condition (according to his vet) that causes him to get yeast infections pretty frequently with the change of season, with a toddler ourselves, has become very hard to keep up with. We just want someone who is able to give Gunner all the attention and loving that he deserves

Story
THIS IS A COURTESY POST FOR A DOG LOCATED IN BETHUNE, SC. IF INTERESTED, PLEASE CALL ASHLEE TAYLOR AT 803-713-4521.   Link appears to be a mix of corgi and beagle, estimated to be about 3 years old and weighing 15 to 20 lbs. He has been kept mostly as an outdoor dog because he is not house trained and seems to like being outside. Link enjoys the company of his owner's small dog but is intimidated by her pit bull. A home with another small dog would probably be fine, but not a large dog. He's also good with her young children. Link is scared of/barks at strangers, which makes him a good watch dog, but he will need some time to bond with a new family. He has had a DAPP vaccine. If you can provide a home for Link, please call Ashlee.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 27, 2023, 12:04 am

Story
Peri has a lot going for her. Just 2-1/2 years old, she has enough energy to be a great playmate or hiking companion but is well past the puppy stage and will hang out on the couch with you if you’re having a lazy day. She’s house trained, crate trained and is getting the hang of leash walking (although she hasn’t learned to go potty while on leash yet). She gets along with people of all ages, as well as other dogs, and is healthy, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Peri can be skittish with strangers and startles easily at loud noises and sudden movements. She doesn’t always come when called, so her adopter will need to work with her to develop a reliable recall. For that reason, we recommend a securely fenced yard and taking her out only on leash until she learns to come every time she is called. But she’s definitely worth it, and she’ll return your investment in training with a ton of love and affection. We really, really want to get Peri a good home, so we've reduced her adoption fee to just $100. If you can give Peri the great forever home she deserves, email info@savethestrays.org for our application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 27, 2023, 12:04 am

Story
STILL HERE AFTER 5 YEARS!  No doubt you’ve seen those stories about dogs waiting 200, 300, even 500+ days before being adopted. Gilley (short for Gillian) has been at Save the Strays for more than 1,825 days – an incredibly long time to wait for that special someone to come and take her home. Why is she still here? We can’t say for sure, but we think it’s because she’s a plain yellow lab/pit bull mix. Our hope – even after 5 years – is that someone will look beyond the purely physical and see what a beautiful dog Gilley is inside. At 7 years young, Gilley still has a lot of stamina. She’s just crazy for toys (although she is hard on them; her nickname is “destroyer of toys.”). But she has slowed down a bit over the past year and is quite happy to just hang out, get a belly rub and take a nap. She’s really quite sweet and very loyal.  Because Gilley has been here so long, she may need a little time to adjust to a new home and owner. She’s lived in a rural environment with few visitors, so she should be introduced to new sights, sounds and people in small doses. Gilley’s also initially a little uncertain around other dogs, especially if they’re also nervous or too forward. She might do best in a quieter home where she’s the only dog or in a home with only one other laid-back dog of similar size because she will play with other dogs once she’s comfortable with them.   At Save the Strays, we consider the first two weeks (longer, if needed) following adoption to be a trial period and will take Gilley back if the adoption doesn’t work out. We are also waiving Gilley’s adoption fee because we really, really, really want to see her get the home she deserves.  So how about it? Are you tired of spending Saturday nights alone? Wishing for a best friend you can tell all your secrets to? If you give Gilley a second chance at her best life, she might just make your life better, too. Email us at info@savethestrays.org for our application.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 27, 2023, 12:04 am

Story
Ruby is a registered purebred Old English Sheepdog. She is 2 years old this month. Her family is extremely busy and feel they do not have the time to give her that she deserves. She is current on all vaccinations and on heartworm and flea preventive. She will need to be spayed, the current owner does not want her to be a breeder. She has had excellent care and groomed regularly. She gets along with other dogs and children. She is not at the rescue but still with the owner until we find the perfect home for her. An application must be completed before an appointment can be made to meet her. Apply at www.tobyannasrescue.com She is a beautiful girl the pictures do not show her true beauty.

Story
This sweet girl is Ruby. She is 2 years old and has lots of love to give. She needs a new home where she can be an only pet. She likes to chase squirrels, play, bark at people whom might eventually give her pets, and sleep in your lap. She has been fixed and is all updated on her shots. Please help me find a good, loving home for her.
