Story
George was found running the streets in December 2012. He was probably dumped. We started feeding him and finally decided to take him in. George is just precious! He loves his new home and is so happy. Even though he is a pit bull, he gets along with other dogs. We love George so much and can't believe anyone would want to abandon him.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.vetting completeMeet Archie – Your New Best Nap Buddy! Archie is a super sweet, laid-back gentleman who loves nothing more than relaxing and catching some Zzz’s. Whether it's a cozy nap or basking in the morning sun by the window, Archie is a pro at soaking up the calm moments in life. He's fully house-trained and will politely go to the door when he needs to potty. Archie prefers to be on a leash when outside, making him easy to manage on walks or potty breaks. He gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and has a friendly, gentle demeanor with everyone he meets. While he seems to have a slight preference for men, he’s happy to accept love, hugs, and pets from both men and women. Like many seasoned dachshunds, Archie has some hearing loss, selective or otherwise  — but it doesn’t slow him down. He’s incredibly mellow and doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body, even around food. In fact, he’s very treat motivated, which makes him a breeze to work with. Archie's favorite part of the day? Mornings — when he can curl up in his bed by the window and soak in some sunshine. He calls it solar charging, and we think he’s onto something! If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion with a heart of gold, Archie might just be your perfect match.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2025, 6:04 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.vetting completeMeet Beau – A Big Bundle of Love Looking for His Forever Home! Beau is a chubby, cheerful little guy who came to Dachshund Rescue of Houston after his previous owner had to move into a residence that doesn’t allow pets. Despite the big change, Beau is adjusting beautifully and showing more of his sweet personality every day. At night, he sleeps soundly in his crate or snuggled up in his bed beside his foster mom. He enjoys leash walks and playtime with his four-legged foster sister. While he can be a little shy at first, he’s quickly warming up and becoming more comfortable with his foster family. Beau is especially fond of the men in the house, though he’s formed a strong bond with his foster mom too. He gets along well with the family’s 13-year-old son and is showing that he can be a great companion for all ages. Fully housetrained, Beau is happy to do his business outside and thrives on routine and praise. Currently weighing 21 lbs, Beau is on a gentle journey to a healthier weight, with a goal of reaching about 14 lbs — a few walks and a bit of portion control should do the trick! Are you ready to give this lovable little guy the forever home he deserves? Beau is waiting to meet you!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2025, 6:04 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.vetting completeLooking for Love? Meet Stu Lu – Your New Best Friend! Are you searching for love in all the wrong places? Look no further — Stu Lu is here and ready to steal your heart! This charming little guy may have had a tough start in life, but he hasn’t let it dim his spirit. Stu is full of love and eager to share it. He thrives on affection and is happiest when he’s close to his person — he’s his foster mom’s loyal little shadow, following her everywhere with adoration in his eyes. Stu is getting along well with his two dachshund foster sisters, though his true preference is human attention. He’s a cuddle bug through and through, and once he bonds with you, he’s all in. At night, he sleeps best in the big bed, snuggled up right next to the one he loves. Though a bit timid at first, Stu is blossoming in his foster home — he’s starting to show his playful side, give sweet kisses, and request belly rubs with his adorable little paws. His velvet-soft coat makes all that snuggling even better, and his expressive face — complete with a smile you have to see to believe — is full of personality. Stu also has a quirky little habit that makes him extra endearing: he occasionally snaps at imaginary flies, which always gives his foster family a laugh. This sweet boy is looking for a forever home filled with patience, warmth, and lots of love. If you’re ready to open your heart to a devoted companion who just wants to be by your side, Stu Lu might be your perfect match.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2025, 6:04 pm
