Story
Meet Lola, a gem of a dog - super sweet, loving and loyal. She was found on the street one cold wet night, starving.  With a heart as big as her playful spirit, she loves people and wants to be with her people.  She would be good with older children as smaller more active kids may overwhelm her. She does well on a leash but will stop and check to make sure you are following her.  She is a quick to learn and eager to please you.  She does the cutest high fives!  She gets along well with other dogs, making her the perfect addition to any family or fur-friend squad. She will guard her food bowl if another dog comes by using her head to push the other dog away.  She loves head rubs and will talk to you in her own adorable way as she gets rubs.  She is house trained and gives you several signs when she wants to go outside to potty, including going to the door, or if you are sitting in a chair, she will grab you hand in her mouth or barks at you.  Lola's funny antics and loving nature will keep you smiling and laughing all day, and she will be your loyal companion through thick and thin. Come and meet this wonderful girl and give her the forever home she deserves! Lola is a special needs dog and will need an owner who is able to care for her current and future heath needs. Lola survived a bad heartworm infection that has left her with heart issues that will require continued medication and veterinary checkups. Like many French bulldogs, Lola is also susceptible to other ongoing health issues. We expect Lola will live a long and happy life with proper care.  If you are interested in her, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review!  Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $210 (or $270 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard.  Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. Meet Hobbes, a lovable male pup who's a true friend and a gentle soul. With a heart as big as the great outdoors, Hobbes is the epitome of affection and friendliness. He's the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal and loving furry friend. Hobbes is an easy-going guy who loves nothing more than snuggling up on the couch and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. But don't be fooled by his "couch potato" nature he's always up for a game of fetch (but he may keep the ball!) or a leisurely walk. He gets along splendidly with other dogs and has a cat "sister" in his foster's home. Hobbes is a real sweetheart of a guy and sure to bring joy and warmth to his new family and will be a wonderful addition to any home. If you are interested in him, please send an email to SCP! Story
Hey there, I'm Orion! I'm a puppy with a zest for life. I'm playful, energetic, and a bit of a goofball. But don't let that fool you - I'm also incredibly smart and brave. I even battled Parvo and came out a victor! My journey to the shelter and into a foster home was quite an adventure. I was living a normal puppy life when I was suddenly imbued with superpowers. I could hear whispers from miles away, run faster than a speeding car, and leap over tall fences in a single bound! But, like all superheroes, I had to face my nemesis - Parvo. It was a tough battle, but with my indomitable spirit, I triumphed. After my victory, I found myself here, waiting for my next adventure. If you're looking for a companion who's full of energy, has a knack for fun, and a heart full of bravery, then I'm your guy! Let's start our adventure together! If you are interested in him, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! Story
Gypsy and her sister Stormi were dumped with their mom in a hay field with no food, water or shelter.  We estimate gypsy's birth date to be April 1st. 2026 and think she is a mix of Shepherd, boxer, cattle dog maybe. Estimated adult weight is 45 lb. She is very good about using puppy pads. Outdoor potty training is in the works. She plays well with her sister and with the small adult dogs in her Foster house. She is also been exposed extensively to cats and shows them the proper respect so far. She loves to play with toys, collects them in her bed, and chews on chewies. Chewies, lots of them. At night she has free rein of the kitchen and the breakfast room and after a little bit of complaining puts yourself to bed. Foster Mom leaves a small light on in the kitchen so she could see if she needs to find the puppy pads at night. She was shy when first rescued but has warmed up to her Foster family quite well. Right now. She's mostly interested in being a puppy, which means running around, playing with the other animals, carrying toys around the house, chewing on things and barking if her sister has the toy she wants.  Right now her baby teeth are very sharp and she thinks hands are like toys, there to chew on so older, considerate children who know how to handle puppy antics would be more appropriate.  The good news is that with the right training and LOTS of love, she will be the best addition to your family ever and your best bud. If you are interested in her, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com to get more information on how to fill out an application and have a great meet and greet to see if we are a match made in heaven. Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $210 (or $270 for puppies) which includes State of Texas sales tax. All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.   Since all of our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule.
