Story
Onyx is a 2.5 year old Rottie pup who is a really sweet but shy boy. He loves to play with his rottie foster brother, and have zoomies, He would do great as a single child. Onyx still has a lot of puppy behavior. He is very strong, and needs a strong handler who will not mind occasional pulling on the leash. He is very affectionate and loving. When his foster mom is standing next to him outside and tells him to sit, he immediately does so and then he'll offer his paw if she says "shake". Then if she asks "pets?", he puts his head up against her leg and he gets pets. By then he usually melts to the ground and ends up upside down, seeking belly rubs. He is very smart and sensitive. Positive reinforcement in the form of treats and verbal praise is highly effective to teach him replacement behaviors. A home with a fully fenced yard is mandatory, as well as a parent who has had rottweiler experience. Onnie came from a high kill shelter where he was surrendered by his previous owner. He was very scared when we first got him, but with decompression, he has now settled down. Onyx is currently about 80 lb and growing, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is heartworm negative, and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Sweet Onyx is being fostered in Houston, and can be adopted in a radius of 200 miles. To be considered to adopt Onyx, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences.

Story
5 yo Axel and his sister Canada were rescued by their foster mom from a backyard breeder, and it was clear that they have gone through a lot in life. They are now looking for their forever home, where they can chase each other and play in a fully fenced yard. Axel and Canada are very calm and quiet husky -malamute pups. They both enjoy being outside and going on car rides. They know the leashes very well. They get very excited, so they will pull when walking them. They need a dog owner with active lifestyles and plenty of time. They know to shake before going into the house. They know their beds. They know to sit before taking a snack. They both enjoy being outside chewing on a rawhide-free toy under the sun. I know they’re huskies, but they do like sun-bathing. Canada is the female black and white Siberian Husky. She is about 60 lbs. She enjoys lower back scratches and being brushed. Canada likes to watch and stare at anything you do. She is a curious girl. She is still hesitant about humans. So please be easy and slow with her. She likes to start by smelling your hands. I guess that’s her way of knowing if their evil hands or good hands. She does not do well with children of all ages, just adults. She doesn’t mind meeting other dogs. Axel is the white malamute/husky mix. He is about 50 lbs, and he is a jolly boy. He will greet anyone with a big grin, a wagging tail, and the happy energy that only a husky can emanate. He will sit with his back against your two feet and wait for pets. He is smart. He knows the drill. Once you have a routine, he will get it quickly. He likes to get on furniture. His personality is lively. He is a toy hogger. He likes to have access to all the toys. He doesn’t like meeting other dogs. He prefers to only play with his sister, Canada. He loves getting his belly rubbed. He enjoys cuddles, too. These two need positive reinforcement after what they have been through. They deserve a chance to live the other half of their lives being huskies. Canada and Axel both really have the best of hearts. They just need love. They are fully vetted, fixed and chipped. They would do good with anyone with previous husky experience. They are bonded, so they have to find a home where they can be adopted together. They are not tested with cats, and they do get excited upon seeing dogs. trying to play. They need a home without other pets, and kids. They are both heartworm negative and is kept on heartworm and flea preventative. The pups are being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, and even Canada for the right home. Their adoption fee and transport fee together is $600 for USA. To meet these gorgeous pups via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences.

Story
Hi my name is Chandler. I guess the official name is HADR Chandler, since I’m the newest rescue at HADR. This might be the first time I’ve had a name and it feels great! The streets were not very nice to me. And most humans turned away when they saw me. You know they say that Dobermans have a sixth sense. We can read people, and we know who is good and who has issues. One day I was wondering about looking for food and shelter. And I came across this one house that just seemed so peaceful, so safe. I thought this would be a nice place to stay for a while. Nice fenced yard and I could see the other dogs playing. Then this lady came to the gate and let me in. My spidery senses must have been really strong that day. She tells me she is a foster to dogs who don’t have any home. And she can help me find a home. A real forever home! Now I’m still trying to understand all of that. But I sense it’s something really special. I will keep you posted on how it goes. So far it’s been pretty amazing! The HADR humans say I need to gain some weight, get stronger. But so far I’m doing just fine.Apply to Adopt or Foster at www.hadr.org.

Story
Adorable Brice is more active than his siblings. Brice and his littermates were surrendered by their previous owner to our vet, from where we took them in. Brice is borderline rambunctious with a lot of puppy energy, and will benefit from a second playful dog at home. He is very affectionate and extremely intelligent. He lives with doggie and kittie siblings and gets along with everyone. Brice is around 14 lb, and growing. He is current on his vaccination, is neutered, microchipped and kept on deworming schedule, and heartworm and flea preventatives. His adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness and Interstate Health Certificate for our out of state adopters. He can be transported to any state in USA and Canada. Canadian applicants will have to accompany puppies under 8 months at the customs. To adopt our puppies, yards, if any, must be fully and adequately fenced. We do not accept invisible or electric fences. Adoption applications are available at savesomesouls.com, and if shortlisted as a match, we will reach out to you to schedule a facetime or video chat to meet our pups. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.

Story
9 weeks old shepherd mix puppy Cam is a very quiet puppy. Cam and his 7 siblings were born on the streets of Houston to a wonderful mom named Blondie. Unfortunately, their sweet mama Blondie got very sick with heartworm disease, that caused pregnancy complications. We tried to save her, but despite treatment, Blondie passed away at age 2. She was a great mom, who nursed her pups despite getting exhausted each time. We had to wean the babies at 5 weeks and she would sit in front of the playpen watching the kiddos play. The babies still keep waiting for their mom to show up and take care of them. It is heartbreaking. We have attached a picture of our girl Blondie so you can see how beautiful their mother was. Cam and his siblings have always been very smart, perhaps because they were partially raised on the streets by a super smart mommy. While we are heartbroken for Blondie, we wish to honor her life by finding the best homes for her babies, whom she loved very much. Currently in a very loving foster home, Cam is now ready for his forever home. Cam is a very calm puppy who can be an only child, or have siblings. He is good with dogs, cats, kids, people, everyone. He will need a quiet home. Cam was born March 31 and right now weighs about 9 lb, has their initial shots, and are microchipped and kept on deworming schedule, and heartworm and flea preventative. They are currently following no paws on ground until they get all their shots, and they know how to use puppy pads. As with all our pups and kitties, Cam will get fixed before he goes to his forever home. Cam is currently being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, even Canada to the right home. Canadian adopters will have to pick up puppies and kitties from the nearest USA city and accompany them into the country per the country's protocol. To meet this gorgeous pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com. Our adoption process starts with filling out an application form. It is a lengthy form but it allows us to understand if the pups and the parents will be a good fit. If they are not, we always offer a better fitting pup. A facetime or virtual. visit with the pup and their foster mom follows, after which we start working on the adoption approval. The process can take 2 - 5 days total, depending on how fast your vet returns our call. Travel can take 1-3 weeks after adoption, depending on the age of the puppy and spay/neuter schedule. Cam's adoption fee includes transport fee to many states in the US, all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness and Interstate Health Certificate for our out of state adopters. Yards, if any, must be adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Story
TO LOVE AND BE LOVED IS MY MOTTO  DOB 12/2/24, WEIGHT 9.5# Arf! Arf, everyone! I’m Chipilin, an amusing, friendly, and affectionate tri-colored Biewer Terrier/ wire-haired Chihuahua mix fella whose only purpose in life is to love and be loved. I weighed 9.5 pounds at 5.5 months old, so I could weigh 14-15 pounds at maturity.  I’m devoted to my foster mom and get along nicely with her resident cats. I’m great with well-behaved children who’ve been taught how to handle small dogs. I’m young and frisky, so I love to play with other small dogs (but not big dogs!). Biewer Terriers are very similar to Yorkshire Terriers except we are tri-colored. We are very dedicated, loyal family members who are friendly with strangers. We’re quick to alert you to company, but we’re not constant barkers. I was surrendered to my HOPE foster mom because my previous owner could no longer care for me. I came to Foster Mom already house-, kennel-, and leash-trained, so I’ve been an easy addition to her household. Now I’m ready to bring my happy-go-lucky attitude and whimsical charm to my new family. Could that be you? If you’re looking for a canine Peter Pan who’ll never outgrow his lighthearted, childlike demeanor, I’m the boy for you! Arrange to meet me today! My heart has so much love to give – all I need is YOU! HOPE ID D25-0509-0026 If you are interested in Chipilin and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php . Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. If you have questions prior to filling out the application, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com and a volunteer will get back to you. June 10, 2025, 10:29 am
