Story
Duke is a great size German Shepherd mix with a wonderful disposition. He’s friendly and energetic when you meet him, but settles down nicely on walks. He doesn’t react passing dogs, and generally just likes to be out having fun and seeing what’s going on. Duke would make a great dog for an active family. He would probably also love a yard with a little room to run. He seems smart and engaged and knows some basic commands. He also seems super housetrained. Duke is currently in a foster home. If you're interested in him, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info. First, we'll set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Then, if you feel that Duke might be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will gladly coordinate an up-close and personal meet and greet with your potential family member. Thank you for your support!

Story
Aspen might be the sweetest, most loving shepherd you will ever meet. She is a bit timid, but bonds quickly to her people and wants to stay right with you. She is still getting used to the sights and sounds of the area surrounding the shelter— they are intimidating to her. She’s a lovely and beautiful girl, with a coat the color of natural straw and very soulful eyes. Aspen walks nicely on leash and is comfortable around other dogs, appearing to want to play. She’s a young girl who might steal your heart – come see if she’s your perfect fit.

Story
It takes a little while to get to know Georgia – she is reserved and has lived a good part of life that we know nothing about. But if you take the time, she’s totally worth it! She is very sweet with people, but not so fond of other dogs. She’d like to be your only dog in the home. Like any respectable shepherd, Georgia is vigilant about her surroundings, and will alert you to any perceived threats. She’s also very smart and responsive to her handler. She would really like room to run, too; she’s not too crazy about confinement in a kennel. A home with previous shepherd experience would be fantastic for her. Come see if she’s your perfect fit.

Story
This is Daku, a very friendly, outgoing dog. He loves people and attention. He’s also great to walk, though he is very strong, so his new family should be prepared to handle that. But given his size and strength, he is very well behaved and seems friendly toward other dogs. Daku will need a secure yard and room to run around a little – he has lots of energy to burn. He’d love to be a running buddy. He is also very attentive and appears to know some basic commands. He’s not sure what to do with toys, though… Daku also seems to be housetrained and ready to get out of the shelter and into his new home!

Story
Say hello to Stella.  We are searching for a very special family for her because she is a special dog.  She looks lile a shepherd mix and we think she is because of her face and body, and she weighs about 50 lbs, but she has short legs carrying her around which is why we need that special family because at only 5 years old, she has some arthritis in her back legs.  It means that if you are looking for a hiking buddy, she is not the one for you.  If you want a dog that will give you lots of love and smiles and be absolutely happy to be with you while you garden, or paint or read a book, or take a short and leisurely stroll around the block, she could be just what you are looking.  This dog wants to be with you, and love you.  Don't we all need a happy face to greet us when we come home?  She could be your steadfast companion.   Stella is also good with cats.  Fine with strangers.  Not a puppy, she is well behaved and easy going with a laid back attitude.  Other than the arthritis, she is in very good shape but you should know that she has had a lot of babies and you can tell by looking at her.  We believe she was used for breeding and then discarded.  Remember, looks fade but personality lasts a lifetime. If you are looking for a really sweet dog who will appreciate you saving her, Stella could be your girl.  There are videos of her on the website at 4dogsfarmrescue.org/Available-dogs.html so please scroll until you see her name and you can watch them there.   Adoption applications are available on the website too - click on the ADOPT at the top of the page or click here - 4dogsfarmrescue.org/Adoption.html   Stella will come to you spayed and fully vetted. Hi, I wanted to give up my dog for adoption because both my wife and I have recent had a busier schedule. We wanted to find a home for her where she can receive the attention she deserves. She is a loving dog, super friendly, gets along with all dogs and people she meets and just wants to be loved. Looking for a good home for her. She is on one prescription, and joint treatment but otherwise she's a healthy girl.

Story
Please meet Apollo! Apollo is a sweet, energetic, loving shepherd. He loves walking and snuggling up with you as if he's a lap dog! Unfortunately, with work and living in an apartment, we no longer have the time and space to give him the attention and care he needs and deserves. He is reactive to dogs he does not know, consisting of heavy barking and leash pulling, but he does well with training mechanisms to lessen those behaviors as long as you keep consistent, and I am sure it will continue to lessen! We are looking for Apollo a new home in the next two weeks with a patient and loving provider.

Story
We adopted Mally because we love dogs and have always had dogs, since our other dog was put down due to health complications, we looked for a new dog, found Mally, but turns out she doesn't get along with our cat and neither my mom or I have the time to walk her properly because of work related reasons, so she needs a family that is active and can give her long walks and a lot of playtime, she is somewhat house trained but still needs some training

Story
Mally is a 58 pound, three-year-old, spayed German Shepherd mix. It took her a couple of months to get comfortable with us. Initially she was very skittish and I think that she was abused in her past. She is sweet, loving and quite smart. It only took about 7 tries to learn ‘gimme 5’ and she’s also learned ‘stay’. She knew ‘sit’. She’s very social with other dogs and loves to play. A few months after we adopted her she was once left alone for a long period of time and she chewed up part of a stuffed chair. She also is not leash trained. I planned to have her go into a training program but realized that we’re not giving her what she really needs. She has lots of energy and needs lots of exercise and we’re unable to give her that due to our work. She needs a person or family who is/are active and perhaps have another dog. Once she feels safe she’ll give you lots of love. We all fell in love with her and are heart broken that she can’t stay with us.

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereHello from Milo! Milo is a gentle and loving soul. This sweet boy may have had a rough start in life, but he has made tremendous strides in improving his social abilities in his foster home. He was once fearful and nervous around new situations and people. Now, he eagerly welcomes guests to his home, wagging his tail in excitement for some tasty treats. He's even conquered his fear of passing strangers on the leash! (He still may have some stranger danger but it's getting better every day.) Fosters have reported that Milo is a playful and healthy pup who loves nothing more than being outside, playing, and exploring with his furry foster doggie siblings. He's full of affection and adores being petted, and his favorite place to cuddle up is right next to his beloved humans on the bed. His foster family calls him "Sunny Boy"! Milo is a good sleeper, sleeping soundly through the night, too. Milo will thrive in a calm and quiet household and environment, with routine and consistency so that he can continue to feel safe. He has learned to be a more confident dog! While Milo's past makes it hard to predict how he'll react around children or cats, one thing is for sure: this dog is full of love and loyalty, waiting for the perfect family to give him the love and care he deserves. With his good nature and willingness to learn, Milo is ready to be a faithful companion for life. Could you be the one to give him the loving home he's been waiting for? Milo is about 3 years old and weighs 59 lbs. He would prefer a quiet and adult-only home at this time. Click HERE to learn how to adopt Milo.&#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   April 26, 2024, 3:01 am

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereImagine Max's beautiful, soulful eyes gazing lovingly at you while he rests on his bed. He adores people and forms deep bonds with his humans. And yes, he has mastered the art of "puppy eyes"! Max is incredibly soft and adores affection and belly rubs. Don't let his senior status fool you; full of life, this pup is far from retirement and maintains excellent mobility, hearing, and eyesight. He relishes going on walks, car rides, and is always eager for new adventures, such as exploring the coastal trail at Half Moon Bay or hiking on local nature trails. His current routine includes two daily walks around the neighborhood and mental exercises to keep him healthy and content. He reveals his playful side when pouncing on plush squeaking toys or zooming around the yard. Max has mastered many new skills, proving that older dogs are both capable and intelligent. He has adapted to indoor living, is crate trained, and understands numerous commands and associated hand signals. Max is highly food motivated and fearlessly attempts anything for treats, from navigating a long tunnel to jumping over small objects. His food motivation aids in his training and eagerness to learn new tricks. Max resides in a suburban foster home with a yard enclosed by a 6-foot fence, where he enjoys a balance of indoor and outdoor time. Indoors, he remains calm and does not bark at the doorbell, garbage, mailman, or passersby, whether human or canine. While Max prefers to be the sole focus of attention, he has enjoyed a few playdates with select tolerant dogs.  If you're searching for a truly remarkable companion with a sweet and affectionate demeanor, look no further than Max. He's the complete package, ready to bring immense joy and excitement into your home.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Walnut (@walnut.wanders)  April 26, 2024, 3:01 am

Story
Are you a Dutch Shepherd fan? Davies is the full package. He’s very smart, energetic, and friendly. He likes to be on the go, and would probably love a secure yard to run around in. He is easily bored, so would love an active family that includes him in all of their fun. Camping, hiking, running – all of these would be fun for him. Anything else you like. Once he’s had his fun, though, he seems to settle pretty nicely. Davies walks politely on a leash, pulling occasionally, so he’ll need a strong person who can handle his size. But he appears to have nice manners passing other dogs and really just likes to sniff and do his own thing. He does it all at a fairly fast pace, so be prepared to get your exercise! Davies appears housetrained and would love to get out of the shelter ASAP.
