Story
Watch his video: https://youtu.be/1UTLVDnYmGA Nash needs a foster or adopter! Nash is a young dog with such a sweet and affectionate disposition. As you can see from the video, he meets new people with gentleness and tolerance. Nash is very loving and looks towards his people for guidance. Nash came from the county shelter. He was scheduled to be put to sleep due to overcrowding but the volunteers loved him and banded together to get him pulled. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a place to live and is currently being boarded in a kennel. Nash has a very playful nature, and given his size, needs a yard to expend his energy. As a young dog, he does require regular exercise. Because he's been cooped up in a kennel for so long, it will take time for him to settle down to a new routine. He needs a chance to relieve all the pent-up stress he's been living under while at the shelter. Once a stable routine has been established, you'll see this endearing boy blossom. Nash is currently being boarded in Walnut Creek. Please contact Desiree at Martina's Rescue if interested in fostering or adopting him. desireeshaver@comcast.net or 510.575.5086 ** This is a courtesy listing. **

Sponsor Luna by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Luna's sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Luna thanks you! Hi, I'm Luna!  I’m an approximately 7 year-old female with a super soft light sable coat. I'm a gentle girl with a very expressive face and the cutest head tilt. I'm also quite cuddly and love to give kisses and snuggles. Everyone who meets me says I'm a very sweet girl.   My DNA says I am mostly a white shepherd, a german shepherd and a bit of shiloh shepherd. I have great house manners and am fully crate trained but really don't need a crate. I can be left alone in the house and won't even think of destroying your stuff. I also sleep quietly through the night. I like my rope tugs, balls, chewy toys and anything that squeaks! So if you ever need to work on something or just need your own quiet time, just give me a fun toy and I’ll go off and entertain myself. And honestly, I really don’t mind sleeping in a little some days if you want to however I would like a family that likes to play ball, walk, and go for rides. I am an active girl and have to keep my fabulous shape.    I have gotten along with calm, respectful dogs that don't get upset when I get a little pesky. I've done several pack walks and have handled myself like a lady. I have a head halter during walks as it gently reminds me to pay attention but I have also gone without it.  I may do best as the only dog in the home because I really want my own person.  I have lived with other dogs before that understand my style. I LOVE going for rides in the car! My foster family takes me out to quite a few different places. So far, I love the quietness of the country and woods are my favorites - Sooo many good smells. I absolutely love using my nose.  I am NOT aggressive, just protective if I need to be. (I really like people).  I already have really good basic commands down, I am highly treat/ball mortivated and have excellent focus. I'm very bright, if I do say so myself, and need to be challenged with daily training, ball play, and FUN. I'm really looking forward to learning more and showing you just how great I am.   Older kids would be fine but I have not been around really small kids and they may just be too much for me. Oh, to keep my beautiful coat nice and soft, I don't mind my baths and brushing. Really, any attention is good attention and I love to be brushed. I would also make a great gardening companion and I love to jusst be by your side.  So, if you’re looking for a fun, sweet, active girl who is also beautiful, affectionate and smart, I may just be your perfect match.  If you’d like to meet me, I’ll be waiting in Newcastle. Sponsor Finn by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Finn’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Finn thanks you! Hi.I’m Finn!  I’m a 1.5 - 2 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix (mostly shepherd with just a touch of husky) and weigh about 65 pounds. I’m a pretty active guy and ready for adventures.  I love to meet new people and new dogs and I’ve learned how to sit politely during introductions. I still need a reminder once in a while not to jump up on new people but I just get so excited and happy it's hard to remember my manners. I want to play with every dog I see!  Some more mature dogs think my greeting can be a little over the top, but playful young dogs think I’m great. I love walks and like to sniff everything.  I’m working hard on my leash manners and feel I am a pro at heeling and mastered sit, down, stay, shake and off.  Sometimes I still pull when a new person walks by, especially if they have a dog because I know that they want to meet me! I have some very minor trust issues (GSD trait) that we need to work on and may not bond with you as quickly as you might hope, but once I figure out that you are only going to be nice to me, we are golden and on our way to being best buddies.  Even though I love other dogs, I’m still learning how to share.  I kind of like to have all of the toys to myself and can get grumpy if another dog tries to take them. However, if it’s a tug-of-war rope then GAME ON.  I’ll play tug all day long!  I love to play in water, too! But in reality I like to play more with my resident sibling and dogs, more than with my own toys. I love dogs. I would do best with an experienced adopter with no young children.  I’d like to have lots of training because I’m a smart boy and I need to keep my brain fine-tuned. I have been to a German Shepherd meetup several times and stayed at the kennel a few times and I’ve done great at both! Like I said, I'm a friendly boy just waiting for that perfect family that understands who I am about. Oh, and one of the games my foster parents play with me is I sit very well and patiently wait for my food. I will wait until I am released to eat. I'm a good boi ! Please come meet me if you like the sound of me. I'll be waiting with my foster family in Mountain View. You like this dog...now what? Hi, I'm Otis and I'm looking for a home that likes us wolfy looking boys. I'm a 1 year old lovable, silly goofball of a boy and I have been told I am quite the character. I'm a sleek, young, handsome dude with a beautiful soft coat. I love riding in the car and going places. I would make a great hiking partner or travel buddy and would be ok hanging out watching a movie and sharing a snack as well. I walk nicely on leash and don't pull my peeps around. I'm also fine passing other dogs and don't make a fuss. I don't dig or challenge fences, I just really like being with my family and exploring the world. I'm a very friendly boy once we meet and say hello. I was pretty secluded in my prior pup life and didn't meet many strangers so it's all new to me. Once we meet and you show me your butt scratching skills, we're good!  I mind my own business when out walking and prefer to approach new friends when ready.  I also didn't get the chance to meet other doggos when I was a wee pup however I've been meeting lots of new friends lately and absolutely love to play, something I missed out and and am still learning to do. I did live with another sweet dog and my best buddy was a kitty but they were around pretty much from day one. I prefer smaller groups of dogs that share my play style, and would prefer to stay out of dog parks and larger groups. My friends tell me I'm a bit of a wuss sometimes but being a dog is hard work.  I'm really just a handsome, playful guy looking for a home that will take me places and show me how much fun the world can be. I will reward you with lots of affection and silly antics. I'll be waiting in Santa Rosa. You like this dog...now what? Story
Chicky came to us, scared of her own shadow, we even had to go so far as to carry her from the car to the house, carry her into the backyard to use the bathroom, and she was frozen in fear every moment of the day, until we grabbed a leash when would come alive. So we started walking her and walking her and walking her and taking her to the dog park and getting her out of the house as much as possible she used to be petrified of Brian and now he’s one of her favorite people on the planet. she never barks, she is the most well-behaved dog I’ve ever had in my house, she knows where her bed is. She knows where her sitting spots are, and she never choose anything except a dog toy. She is such a loving, sweetheart, and as long as she’s getting regular walks, she’s quite a happy dog. She is scared of children and loud teenagers, even being in our house since December, that has not changed however, her fear of strangers in general has gotten much better, over the last few weeks she’s now started taking treats from strangers at the dog park.! She is also cat friendly! Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm and microchip each dog as well as spay or neuter. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Story
Meet Nessie. At first I am very reserved, but once I get to know you, I am very lovable.  I am learning to play with toys and I like the squeaky ones. I have had some training and I am learning what it is like to walk on leash. I am also learning that treats are good.  I love to hang out with you and give lots of kisses.  I am housebroken and crate trained.  At night, if you put a blanket or a dog bed next to your bed, I will stay next to you, that is my favorite place.  If you need a stay at home companion, I am your girl.  I love going for walks and I ride well in the car.  Take me on hikes with you, I am very agile and like to make it over any obstacles.  I have a very strong prey drive and would do well in such activities. Cats are a thing to chase, so a home without cats would be ideal. I also like to hang out on the couch with you and if you are not sitting in your favorite chair, I will curl up in it. I have not been around children much, so I would need a slow introduction to them. I will sneak up and gently steal toys from my foster sister (Cora). I have been introduced to pup cups and really enjoyed them.    I am really learning what it is like to be a dog. I am learning commands like sit, paw, down and stay. I will do well in a house with another confident dog to help show me the ropes. I am definitely a dog that requires time and trust, but I am a loyal and loving dog to my people.  Adoption fees: Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. Story
Felix is an approximately 3 years old German shepherd mix. He has that BEAUTIFUL classic black and tan shepherd coat and is sure to get lots of compliments when out and about!Felix can be nervous when meeting new people and new dogs, so he does best with slow introductions and would thrive with an owner who is committed to continuing his training and socialization.Once comfortable, Felix is a silly, goofy, fun dog. He loves the outdoors and would do best in an active home. He enjoys going for walks and would make a fabulous hiking and/or jogging partner. He loves to use his nose and play fetch. However his most favorite place to be is sitting next to his person. He seems to prefer the ladies but has bonded with a couple males, it just takes a bit longer.Felix has gotten along with a large male shepherd and a medium sized pitbull in his foster home with slow introductions. He has made a few feline friends as well so shows cat potential when introduced properly.Felix is nervous in the car but he is slowly learning that the car means fun adventures!! He is crate trained, potty trained, and walks well on the leash. He is very affectionate and eager to please. He loves his treats. A great dog with a ton of potential but needs someone who is going to give him time to feel comfortable and show just how awesome he is.To find out more about Felix please go online to CalPaws.org or send an email to cpk9rescue@gmail.com Adoption fees:   Dogs over 1 and under 6 years old: $400 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. Story
Bio for DUTCH: Dutch came to CALPAWS via the Los Banos Animal Shelter.  If you want to describe him in one word, look up "gregarious," and you will understand his personality very well.  Dutch loves nothing more than to love & be loved, and has quickly established himself as the "mayor" of his current foster home.   Be warned: Dutch is big and powerful, and so his efforts to express affection might well bowl you over, literally! Fortunately, however, he is very compliant and will come when called every time and is always extremely eager to please! Dutch will require a large and sturdy crate or kennel, but once he learns he can't pop the doors, he ceases any effort to try to escape.   Dutch has shown great ability to get along with both small and big dogs and can be described as "Cat curious" but has never shown any aggression toward them (or any other animal).   Dutch will definitely enjoy a home where he has plenty of space to run and play.  He's a big gentle teddy bear with a big loving heart, and he needs a big space to blow off energy. He is fun, loving and goofy!   Dutch originally came from Kern county. He was a lucky boy who was able to make it out of the shelter. He was liked a lot at the shelter and they advocated for him. Which is how he became a CalPaws dog!  Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies.
