I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereLilac is a 2-year-old husky mix with a petite frame and a gentle, curious spirit. She’s currently in a loving foster home, getting some extra TLC and gaining weight. This sweet girl loves ear scratches, cuddle time, and exploring the outdoors. She’s house-trained, walks nicely on leash, and already knows “sit.” While she’s still building confidence in new environments, she’s treat-motivated, responsive to her people, and as gentle as they come. Lilac is a sensitive soul who appreciates a calm, patient approach and might do well with respectful, dog-savvy kids over 12. She’s polite around other dogs and would enjoy a compatible canine friend—or she’d be happy as your one-and-only. If you’re looking for a soft-eyed sidekick with a heart of gold, Lilac’s ready to brighten your days! I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereLooking for a chill, low-energy husky mix who balances independence with sweet moments of affection? Sky is a 6-year-old, 78-pound gentle soul who enjoys doing his own thing but also loves leaning in for pets and kisses when the mood strikes. Laid-back explorer: Loves calmly sniffing and taking in his surroundings. Affectionate in his own time: Starts off independent but gradually leans in for pets and may even sneak in a few polite face kisses, as he becomes familiar with you. Loves gentle touch: Enjoys face massages and softly encourages more with his sweet gaze. Cooperative and patient: Stayed calm during bath time, giving frequent, polite licks. Easygoing walker: Stays close on leash with only mild, easily redirected pulling. Dog social: Attends doggy playgroup and is non-reactive to passing dogs. Sky would thrive in a home where he can enjoy both his independence and his snuggle sessions. Whether joining a home with a well-matched dog friend or soaking up the love as a solo pup, he’s ready to be your mellow best buddy! Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:17Meet Bootsy – the mellow gentleman with a heart of gold and the fluffiest ears in town! Bootsy is a 6-year-old Husky/Shepherd mix who’s as sweet and soulful as they come. At 63 lbs, he’s a gentle, low-energy boy who prefers slow strolls, comfy naps, and the company of kind-hearted humans. He may not win any races (and honestly, he’s not trying to), but he’s got a quiet charm that wins hearts wherever he goes. Bootsy has been diagnosed with ataxia and hip dysplasia, which affect his movement a bit—but don’t let that stop you from falling for this lovely guy. He gets around just fine, enjoys gentle sniffari-style walks, and is happy to take it slow. He’s also underweight right now and would love a home where he can be spoiled with love, care, and a few extra snacks to help him fill out. In playgroups, Bootsy keeps it mellow and polite. He’s not the party guy in the yard, but he’s happy to say hello and then go about his business with quiet confidence. He could live with well-matched, chill dog friends—or would be just as happy soaking up the spotlight solo. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who just wants to be near you (preferably on a soft bed with snacks nearby), Bootsy could be your perfect match. Come meet this special guy at Oakland Animal Services and see why slow and steady truly wins the race. June 5, 2025, 10:59 am

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:3Avril is a beautiful 3-year-old, 48-pound husky mix with a gentle soul. She’s learning to trust and feel safe, showing glimpses of her sweet personality. Avril recently went on a field trip, and she absolutely shined! She was cautious about getting into the car but warmed up quickly and stayed quiet and calm, content looking out the window. On leash, Avril is a joy. She walks politely, occasionally twirling with excitement, and frequently checks in to make sure you’re still with her. She passed people and dogs with ease, showing curiosity but no reactivity, and even charmed a barista with her friendly, affectionate nature. She’s sensitive and may do best with a patient, experienced adopter who can help her continue building confidence. She learned “sit,” seeks physical closeness, and seems like the type to form a deep bond with her person. In shelter playgroups, she does best with calm, well-matched dogs. She could thrive as a solo dog or with the right canine companion. If you’re looking for a soulful dog who’s ready to blossom into your loyal, playful sidekick, Avril might be just your match.         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Judy Callan Klein (@dogs_adopt_oas_fieldtripdogs)   June 17, 2025, 12:40 pm

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:4Meet Sprinter, your new adventure buddy! This 9-month-old, 47-pound husky mix has a zest for life. He's a playful goofball who loves chase games with dog friends, and would enjoy an active home where he can run, explore, and learn. Sprinter would thrive with appropriately matched dogs, or could be a happy solo pup with doggy pals to visit. Sprinter walks fast on leash (with the occasional enthusiastic pull!), but will wait for you to catch up. He’s affectionate, curious, and eager to be where the action is, whether that's a beach walk or a cuddle session. He’s still working on puppy manners like playful jumping and mouthing, but he’s a quick learner and very eager to please. Ideal adopters will enjoy keeping up with his fun-loving spirit and helping him continue to grow into the best boy. If you’re looking for a sweet, spirited companion who will keep you smiling, Sprinter’s your guy!June 17, 2025, 6:32 pm
