Caesar is a sweet, calm, and playful pup who brings an easygoing presence to the home and plenty of fun when it’s time to play. He is friendly with adults, children, and other dogs, and he especially enjoys chasing, being chased, and playing fetch at the dog park. Tennis balls are a major motivator for him; if a ball is thrown, Caesar is ready to retrieve it. Meet Caesar Caesar is a cuddly companion who is quiet and well-mannered indoors. He enjoys being close to his people and may take a few minutes to settle when left alone, but he relaxes quickly once he knows everything is okay. He is particularly excited to start the day with a morning walk, often letting his people know he is ready to go outside with happy whining and enthusiasm. He is leash-trained and approximately 99% potty trained. He knows “sit” and is currently working on “come,” “stay,” and “off.” Caesar is gentle when accepting treats and is motivated by both food and toys, especially tennis balls. Everyday Life Caesar loves car rides and would happily ride shotgun if he could—he enjoys being close to his humans while traveling. He is tolerant of baths and has learned an adorable apartment-entry routine: after walks, he sits patiently to have his paws wiped, offers each paw on cue, and heads inside when told, “Go.” At home, Caesar’s playful personality comes out in the form of hallway zoomies. His foster family even bought artificial turf as a possible indoor potty option, but Caesar has made it clear that he prefers using it as his personal nap spot instead. Ideal Home Caesar would likely thrive with a loving family, couple, or individual looking for an affectionate, social dog. He enjoys children, gets along well with other dogs, and is friendly with people of all ages. He seems to have a particular fondness for men, while remaining warm and welcoming with everyone he meets. His favorite toy is a white duck squish toy, but a tennis ball, or nearly any ball at the park, will quickly win his heart. My favorite thing was when she started "talking" to me- the a-whooing that huskies do when happy. a wonderful sound coming from her throat almost like a hum. she is such a happy girl with a human friend close by. She does some really funny, endearing things, mostly about walks. she will rub her head all over my hands and shoes, when I am lacing my tennies to go for our walk, and she jumps and talks like crazy when she sees her harness. she is a great walker, can go for a long time, and ignores other dogs walking by. she will follow you into any room in your house, and expect head rubs. I think her perfect day would start with a big stretch, some talking with me, food, a walk, then a nap until walk time again.

My name is Nike and I am a spayed female, black and white Akita and Siberian Husky. The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 10-months old. I have been at the shelter since January 15, 2026 Meet Nike, the Akita Siberian Husky Mix! Nike arrived at the Shelter by no fault of her own – her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. Nike has been described as energetic and friendly with people. She enjoys going for walks and runs. She’s lived with children ages 5, 8 and 9 years of age as well as teenagers and did well with them. She was crated when left alone for a few hours and was eager to reconnect with her family when they came home. Nike is a smart cookie and comes with a whole vocabulary of things she knows including: “sit”, “lay down”, “high five”, “shake”, “wait”, “slow down”, and “come here”. She would love to work her brain with her new family (and bond through positive reinforcement based training. Nike enjoys riding in the car on her way to adventures. She can be selective in her dog friends (liking some but not others) so if there are any resident dogs in the home, it would be recommended they meet prior to adoption. Nike's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation's Leave No One Behind fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home. Jabulani, lovingly nicknamed Jabu for short, is a sweet girl looking to affectionately nuzzle her way into your heart! This precious girl absolutely adores being in the company of her human companions. She greets everyone she meets with a curly tailed tail wag and lots of slobbery kisses. She also makes sure to show off her agile spins and funny vocalizations to wow her new friends. She is an energetic and active pup that would love to go for long walks, spend some time playing fetch in the yard, training using positive reinforcement methods, and enjoying a nice food puzzle. Jabu is also a gold medalist at tug-of-war and an expert in squeeky toys. You can see Jabu in action in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/j9ZpmzAYeRg Petite and beautiful at 62 pounds and 11 years, Jabu prefers to be the apple of her person's eye, for this reason she would be perfectly happy as a solo dog. Jabu really loves her people and can be heard whining and complaining when left at home alone.
