Very sweet dog I’ve been fostering since his owner had to move and couldn’t take him. My daughter is now having a health issue and needs constant care, so I can’t give him the care he needs!

Story
Dasher!  Inside this boy's wee head is a swirling spin of hearts & flowers. He's a bit of a baby brain, meaning: Simple/uncomplicated. Sweet and highly affectionate.  Obedient, kind, hopeful and in-your-lap affectionate. Drop the stereotypes. He's a Husky/Shepherd type dog but is not an escape artist, he doesn't howl. He's a bit of a nerd who wants to belong, so stays close to his people and nudges in for head rubs when he can. He's been such an easy keeper that he gets to leave his kennel at the Rescue Barn and join us for little field trips in our house. Nicely house trained, and very well behaved around all the dogs on the property. You can see his play style on our Instagram Page. He 2-or-so years old and would love to live with kids and another dog would be great too. Send an email and let's compare notes.

Story
Echo is a chill, smart and loving dog that settled in quickly and smoothly into his foster home. Highly trainable, and polite on a leash, he catches on quite quickly to instructions and loves his structure. He enjoys a typical day playing and socializing, having a blast on his multiple daily walks, and cuddling up at night on the couch. He is a homebody at night, and oh boy he loves his outings during the day. Echo loves to run! His foster sibling can attest to the fact that he is comfortable with other dogs and would make a fantastic doggy sibling. He is not particularly fond of toys or bones, but he sure loves his food! He must have some awesome doggy dreams because he sleeps like an angel. He thrives with patient, caring people who are comfortable going slow with his physical space, so he'd be best-suited with older, dog-savvy kids. (He warmed up fast in his patient and caring foster home.) He prefers to be with people than to be alone, so he’ll be one happy boy if he gets to be your working buddy! Echo (51 pounds) will be the happiest dog in a home that can provide patience, continued socialization and training, and lots of exercise with plenty of love thrown in. Could you be that family? Apply to adopt Echo today! (SG)

Story
Loki is a 4 year old husky mix who came to Rocket Dog after his owner passed away. Loki has been living with his friend Quinn. They rely on each other for comfort and companionship, and must be adopted together. These dogs are typical huskies - active, energetic, vocal, and playful - but they have great training and would adapt well to a home environment. They would do best in a home who has experience with huskies or has done the necessary research and prepared themselves for caring for these special dogs. Loki is an extra-large guy and does need to lose some weight. He currently weighs in at around 110 pounds.

Active people are encouraged to apply. (JH) Estimated adult weight is about 40 pounds, no guarantees. A sibling's DNA is attached for reference.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:10This dog is available to meet by appointment only. Prieto is a 3-year-old shepsky with a sensitive heart. This sweetie wants connection but needs time, patience, and consistency to feel safe. In a calm home, he may look very different than he does in the shelter environment. On walks, Prieto can be wary of passing people and sudden movements, sometimes zig-zagging as he processes his surroundings. He startles easily but takes treats gently and allows basic handling. He will do well with an experienced adopter who can provide clear structure and predictable routines. Prieto has been uncomfortable meeting other dogs at the shelter, though he previously lived with another dog. He would be best in a home as a solo dog, or with an appropriately matched dog friend. If you’re ready to go slow and help a sensitive dog build confidence at his own pace, Prieto has the potential to grow into a deeply loyal and rewarding companion. Please submit an adoption questionnaire to meet him. January 28, 2026, 1:28 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:5Lumberjack – Confident, Playful, and People-Loving Lumberjack is a 1.5-year-old Husky mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He is affectionate, social, and eager to engage with the people around him. Friendly and enthusiastic: Pulls only very mildly on leash and shows interest in people, greeting them enthusiastically with a waggly tail. Affectionate greeter: He may happily place his front paws on your laps to say hello and attempt air kisses when he gets excited. He responds well to redirection and promptly offers a polite sit. Toy-loving and playful: Likely to pick up a plush toy and proudly parades it around to invite play, enjoying a short and appropriate game of tug. Responsive and social: Readily responds to sit cues and repeatedly returns to greet them with happy energy. Dog social: Attends doggie playgroup and enjoys engaging games of chase with other dogs. Lumberjack does well with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with social canine friends.February 1, 2026, 1:43 pm
