Story
Sparky is a one year old male mixed breed. Our best guess is that he is a pitsky. Sparky is a very athletic and energetic dog. He loves to go on walks and to go for car rides. He is good with gentle female dogs and is okay with children. He absolutely loves to crawl into your lap and be a lap dog. Sparky is around 50 pounds and has a beautiful shiny coat. He is very smart and knows how to sit, both with the voice command and the hand signal. He is neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $100. Sparky desperately wants a home of his own. He does not like shelter life. Please call 765-994-5201 to set up a time to meet him!

Story
Maria is a 3 year old female husky mix. She is very smart and loyal. She can be shy at first but once she warms up to you, she will never leave your side. She absolutely loves her people and loves to give kisses. She will never turn down a car ride. She gets along well with playful dogs and is okay with cats. Maria would prefer a quieter household with older children. She would really love to have a family who is home most of the time. She keeps a clean kennel and is most likely house trained, as she previously lived in a house. Maria is capable of jumping a 6-foot fence. If you give this pretty girl a chance, she will reward you with years of loyalty. She is spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. Please call us at 765-994-5201 to schedule a meet and greet with Maria. She would love to get her own home. She is very deserving and is one of the longest residents at the shelter.

Story
Meet Avi! He is the true meaning of rescue. Avi used to live with an abusive owner, until we changed his path! He has come so far, and has been clicker trained, but is still healing and will need a patient adopter who is willing to continue his training. He is about 9 years old and weighs around 55 lbs. He loves everyone he meets, but is not good with children or cats, and doesn't understand why they move so fast. He is slow to trust, but very playful and affectionate once he knows he is safe. Avi will jump a fence that is smaller than 6 ft tall, and will need long daily walks. He currently lives with and loves his boxer bulldog mix foster brother, but knows he is the pretty one! A home with another playful husky or other dog similar in size would be ideal! HUSKY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. CANNOT BE PLACED WITH CHILDREN OR CATS. If you want to be a part of Avi's recovery and future, and are willing to invest in long term training, apply for him today! His adoption fee is $25. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LOUC/Dog All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Anakin came to the shelter in very poor condition. He was abandon in a house and left to die. He has made a full recovery and is doing great. He is currently in a foster home but the family is moving out of state so we need to find him a Wonderful Home quickly. We do not want to see him come back to the shelter. He has been neutered and up to date on all vaccines, he is potty trained, crate trained and does well with other dogs. He is for the most part good with cats but recommend supervision. He does have a small amount of food/crate possessiveness but that can we worked on in the right home. We do recommend older kids in the house hold.

Story
Meet Quasimodo … aka Quasi, he’s a 5-6 month old husky mix. We named him Quasimodo because he had a little bit of a hunched back lol turns out he doesn’t really have a hunchback but instead, he kind of has two necks… it doesn’t seem to bother him as he acts like a total normal puppy. He’s been to four different veterinarians to be examined so it is just going to remain something special about him. That’s not the only unique thing about him though! He also has a little heart condition that is most common in cats so you get a two for one … a cat dog . Due to the heart condition he will have to be on heart meds for the rest of his life and will need to see a cardiologist at least once a year to keep track of condition. Even though he’s a cute hot mess you would never know because he functions and acts like a typical puppy. He loves everyone and other dogs. He enjoys car rides and visiting places. He does well walking on a harness and he thinks everyone should say Hi to him and give him kisses.  So if you are looking for a husky mix that’s low energy, that loves everyone and everything, that loves water and car rides … look no further.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   November 3, 2024, 9:47 pm
