Story
Meet Joy, a darling pup who truly lives up to her name! Her foster family lovingly calls her Princess Joy, and once you meet her, you’ll understand why. This sweet little girl is pure sunshine wrapped in the fluffiest white coat. With her bright, sparkling eyes and gentle personality, Joy has a way of instantly melting hearts. Her foster dad even took special photos to capture her magic, because that’s exactly what she is: a little bit of magic in puppy form. Joy’s journey hasn’t always been easy, but those days are behind her now. In her foster home she’s blossoming, learning about love, comfort, and all the wonderful things that come with being a cherished pup. Her foster family says she’s adjusting beautifully and is ready to start the next chapter of her story, finding a forever home of her very own. She’ll just need her second round of vaccinations before she’s ready to head home, but that doesn’t stop her from dreaming about her future family. Joy has lived happily with other dogs, so she’d love having a canine sibling to play with. That said, she’d also be perfectly content soaking up all the love as your one-and-only little princess. Whether you’re a family, a couple, or a solo adopter, Joy would make a wonderful addition to your life. So if you’re looking to add a little joy, sweetness, and puppy magic to your world, this precious girl might be the one for you. And we’d love to introduce you!

This darling little Maltese, weighing just 17 pounds, is between 3–5 years old and has all the grace and sparkle of a true princess. She also has a wonderfully down-to-earth, easygoing personality that makes her an absolute dream to have around. Penny is a people-lover through and through. She greets the world with a gentle, happy heart and is just as delighted to make new human friends as she is to snuggle up with her favorite person. She also gets along beautifully with other dogs, making her a perfect addition whether you already have a furry companion or are looking for your one-and-only little companion. Her favorite thing? Simply being part of your life. Penny is the kind of dog who’s happy to do whatever you’re doing, whether that’s a leisurely walk, a cozy afternoon at home, or tagging along on daily errands. She’s wonderfully adaptable, effortlessly fitting into a variety of homes, from a single adopter to a bustling family. She’s just about ready for her next chapter, finishing up her vaccinations and preparing to find the loving home she deserves. Story
With luscious blonde locks that put even the most intense volumizing shampoo to shame, Acornelius’s soft, silky fur make him the perfect cuddle buddy and nap neighbor. His good-natured personality and sweet shyness may not immediately catch your attention, but the positive vibes emanating from his core are reminiscent of the mighty oak that will grow from his acorn of love. Like most acorns, Acornelius enjoys the great outdoors and will happily accompany you on short jaunts to determine where he should be planted. Acornelius shares all of the characteristics of his namesake – he’s loyal, steadfast, and hopes to be planted in his new forever home soon. Do you have the soil needed for the adorable Acornelius? Here's some notes from his foster: Acornelius is learning to trust the world, one sniff at a time. Gentle and soft-hearted, he wouldn't harm a fly, he just needs a little patience to come out of his shell. He's relatively independent, but earn his trust and he'll cozy up next to you asking for pets.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $800 Meet Kindred   Kindred is a 10–12 month old, 14 lb Maltipoo with a non-shedding coat who was rescued from the shelter and is now ready to find a loving forever home. She is very much still a puppy at heart— playful, energetic, affectionate, and full of personality. While she can be a little timid at first, her sweet nature shines through quickly, and it becomes clear that she simply wants to be close to her people and feel safe and loved.   Daily Routine   Kindred starts her day by heading straight outside, where she proudly shows off her excellent potty manners. She is perfectly housetrained and understands the routine well. After her morning potty break, she enjoys breakfast. She can be a bit of a picky eater, so her foster sometimes mixes in tasty additions like rice, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, or bone broth to encourage her to eat.   After breakfast, she relaxes for a short while before her puppy energy kicks in. Once she gets going, she is ready to play, run, and interact with everyone around her. She enjoys a daily walk of about 20 to 30 minutes and spends the rest of the day bouncing between playtime, exploring, and hanging out with her people. In the evening, after dinner and more fun, Kindred winds down and settles into her kennel around 10 pm, where she sleeps soundly through the night.   Personality   Kindred is a playful, energetic young dog who truly loves being part of the action. She enjoys running around, playing, and greeting her people with enthusiastic energy. Like many puppies her age, she can get excited and may use her mouth during play, but she responds well to guidance and is still learning her manners as she grows.   She is also very affectionate and enjoys being close to her people. She tends to stay right in your personal space and likes to be involved in whatever is going on. Once she feels comfortable, her loving and silly personality really comes out. Despite her playful nature, she can be timid in new situations and may feel nervous around unfamiliar people, especially on walks. With patience and reassurance, she continues to build confidence.   Social Life   Kindred loves people and wants attention and affection, even if she sometimes feels unsure at first. She may bark occasionally when startled or when someone new enters the home, but she is not a constant barker. Her reactions are usually tied to feeling nervous rather than being vocal. She enjoys interaction and would benefit from continued positive experiences that help her feel more secure in the world around her.   Training and Manners   Kindred is perfectly potty trained and does very well with her routine. She sleeps in her kennel at night and settles nicely once it is time for bed. On walks, she can be timid and may feel nervous around new people or unfamiliar environments. She may chew when bored or during this teething phase, so appropriate toys and supervision will help guide her as she matures.     Favorite Thing About Kindred   One of the most endearing things about Kindred is her joyful, slightly clumsy enthusiasm. She loves to run outside and then race back into the house at full speed, sometimes launching herself right into her people as if she simply cannot contain her excitement to be near them. It is a funny and affectionate reminder of just how much she loves being part of the family.May 2, 2026, 6:49 pm

Low–medium energy, loves lounging Blanket lover & cozy girl Learning to love walks     Eclair is a soft, sensitive little Maltipoo who came from a hoarding situation and is now discovering that the world can be safe, kind, and full of love.   When she first arrived, she was shut down— but with patience and gentle care, she has started to blossom in the most beautiful ways. She’ll quietly approach for pets, pause, and come back for more— choosing connection in her own time.       Personality   Eclair is is gentle and observant girl who is quietly affectionate in her own way. She's definitely curious about people and responds best to calm energy. She can be startled easily but is becoming braver by the day. Her foster dad has become her favorite human and seeing her approach him for pets or attention is adorable.     Daily Life   Eclair is making so much progress! She now recognizes that the leash = walks (she may hesitate, but she’s learning and curious!) and enjoys slow, calm walks as she is still gaining confidence outside. She loves lounging near her people (and watching TV!) and uses potty pads reliably and is working on outdoor potty skills (when on leash, as she does not have yard access.) She currently lives with another calm dog and appreciates the companionship. Another dog in her forever home isn't a must, but would be a plus.   Why Eclair?   She may not run up to you right away— but when she chooses you, it’s everything.   Eclair is the kind of dog who forms deep, meaningful bonds. Watching her grow in confidence, trust, and love is incredibly special— and her future family will get to be part of that journey.        May 2, 2026, 6:49 pm
