Templeton. Kinda makes you think of an English movie with some guy in a smoking jacket with leather patches on the elbows, standing in a library in front of a fire, doesn't it? But don't worry, I am not at all like that! When I was at the animal control, I guess they ran out of "normal dog names, and they gave me this one to try to make me feel better or special or something. I was found as a stray in a neighboring town and my hair was so long and so matted together, they would have to carry me around. I could hardly move and when I did, it hurt and pulled. After foster mom got me, it took her and the groomer 4 hours to get all the matts and tangles off me so that I could actually walk again. Boy, did that feel better! Over the next few days, I went to the vet and had some x-rays done and was found to have some degenerative disc disease in my upper back and the medications they gave me really helped a Lot! I feel like a new puppy!! I am an 8-year-old shih tzu mix and get along with everyone at my foster mom's house. Big dogs, little dogs, puppies, kitties or cats...they are all ok with me. I walk like a dream on a leash and am potty trained. I will bark to go outside here. And I sleep in my own little doggie bed at night. I will be happy in a house that has friendly pets and nice people but I am not sure how I am with small children so that is probably not the best for me. Older, dog-friendly children would be ok. But I have a couple of must haves. I feel good on my medicines so I would like to go to a house that will keep me on them. Cosequin, fish oil and meloxicam or whatever your vet will order for me to keep me pain free. AND I need to have regular grooming. I don't want to be a matted mess ever again!! If you can give me those two things, please apply to adopt me! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

My name is Dixie, and I came from a "home" that basically had no use for me, except to churn out babies :( LUCKILY I was saved by a rescue and now I am living in a nice foster home and will make no more puppies :D I am a sweet and shy girl, and would be best in a home without children or who have older children. I am happy go lucky and will wear OUT your lap, if you let me! I am great with the other dogs in my foster home but will chase the cats. I am house and pee pad trained and a delight to walk around and show off. I have been known to scream a little when picked up, my foster mom thinks that I was not handled nicely at my first 'home". But I am getting used to being handled and more comfortable with my foster parents. I am even learning how to play with toys, right now I nap with them but eventually I will understand how to play with them soon :) Adopt this sweet girl and give her the life she has been waiting for!! Goodness, would you just look at Kacey Musgrave's darling self? This precious 3 year old, 12 pound, Ewok...er....Shih Tzu came to us from a not-so-awesome past so she is getting lots of space and encouragement in her foster home to help her come out of her shell. She will need continued patience once she joins her forever family! Kacey does well with other dogs and is slowly starting to play with them as she gets more comfortable in her new setting. She is learning all the ways of being a family pet, which includes working on things like potty training and walking on a leash, but it's all a work in progress! She has started to curl up close to her foster mom and shown that she likes to be in a lap, she's just not sure about how to get there. If you can give Kacey the time she needs to blossom into the happy dog we know she will become, let us know by submitting an application! We can't wait to help her find the bright future she deserves! Adoption fee: $625
