✨ WELCOME MISS VICKI ✨ We have questions. Mainly, where are all these furry Frenchies coming from and why do they all look like tiny Ewoks? Miss Vicki arrived at DuPage County Animal Services as a stray and immediately had us doing a double take. If you remember Nikusha, you’ll understand why. These two could be twins separated at birth. Same fuzzy face. Same adorable gremlin energy. Same “I may have just wandered out of the forest village on Endor” vibe. You may remember Geyser - the long-term stray who spent far too much time waiting at Chicago Animal Care and Control CACC Dogs for someone to notice him. His foster parents decided he needed a roommate, a sidekick, a partner in crime, if you will. Enter Miss Vicki. We’re pretty sure Geyser has no idea what just happened, but suddenly there’s a tiny furry Frenchie in his house and we’re here for it. We can’t wait to learn more about this adorable little oddball. Stay tuned for updates as she settles into foster life and starts living the good life she deserves. All good things from here!

Buddy Edward is a middle-aged dude with a beer gut - we are working on his weight! He is the happiest, fattest, little Shih Tzu 'around' - he snorts like a bulldog and waddles! He came to rescue at 18 lbs and has been told by our Vet his bloodwork looks great, but his weight is a concern and obesity will cause problems. His foster has him on a diet, special kibble and only one meal a day. Buddy has curly white and tan fur. He had bald spots due to skin infections which have grown back. Due to breed - in addition to exercise, will require extensive grooming! Regular trips to the Salon *Rescue does not complete DNA testing. Breed is based on documentation provided from the original owner and Vet clinic who saw him prior to rescue. Buddy is fostered with cats, small dogs and big dogs. He loves attention and sitting on his foster mom's lap. He is leash trained and potty trained. Loves car rides and 'going anywhere. This breed has a Life Expectancy is 10-15 years. We are seeking a committed family for this piglet. Buddy came to rescue with two dog siblings after his elderly owners could not afford to care for them and taken to a small shelter. The Animal Control Officer contacted CCR and requested help - the dogs were neglected, dirty and not housetrained. They were clearly loved but owners started to struggle to care for themselves and the pets. Buddy has more housetraining than his younger dog friends. Buddy is now up to date on vaccines, dewormed for gut health, microchipped and neutered. He tested negative for heartworms and is on prevention. She was found abandoned on the streets alongside her sister in heartbreaking condition. Severely neglected, Quinn was covered in painful mats, suffering from extensive hair loss caused by poor nutrition and flea infestation, and struggling with serious eye issues that had gone untreated for far too long. Since coming into rescue, Quinn has received extensive veterinary care and has been under the supervision of a local veterinary ophthalmology specialist. After numerous tests, treatments, and medications, we now know that Quinn has severe chronic dry eye, a condition common in her breed. Unfortunately, this has resulted in significant scarring of both corneas. The good news is that Quinn's right eye is responding well to treatment, and with lifelong medical management, her vision can likely be preserved. Her left eye has faced additional challenges, including a corneal ulcer and infection, but after completing her course of antibiotics and ongoing care, she has shown remarkable improvement. Despite everything she has endured, Quinn remains one of the sweetest dogs you could ever hope to meet. She is calm, gentle, affectionate, and happiest when curled up in your lap. Quinn is not a barker, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and has an easygoing, laid-back personality that makes her a joy to have around. Quinn is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, 4DX negative, and current on ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention and Bravecto flea and tick prevention. She and her sister were found living on the streets in absolutely horrible condition, neglected and struggling to survive. Despite everything she endured, Tawny has remained one of the sweetest. This girl has a calm, gentle nature and seems to be mostly well-trained. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and people. Tawny loves the simple things in life—a soft dog bed, a cozy lap to curl up on, and spending time with her people. Because Tawny's health and well-being are so important to us, she has received extensive veterinary care while in rescue. During her spay surgery, our veterinarian detected a Grade III/VI heart murmur. To ensure she received the best care possible, we proceeded with comprehensive bloodwork and a full echocardiogram. Her bloodwork came back completely normal, however she did test positive for Chagas -which she is currently on medication for. Her echocardiogram showed findings within normal limits, with all heart structures measuring normal size. The cardiologist noted that her risk of heart failure is considered low, with no masses or effusions present. A sinus arrhythmia was recorded on the ECG, but overall her cardiac evaluation was very reassuring. At this time, there are no further testing/diagnostics to be done. Tawny is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, 4DX negative, and current on ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention and Bravecto flea and tick prevention. We have not yet tested Tawny with cats or children, so those situations are currently unknown. The adoption fee for Tawny is $450. To apply, please visit www.adoggie4you.org.
