Story
Poppy - female Shih Tzu Date of birth 6/17/21 11 lbs Meet Poppy. Her and her sister were together in a very good home until their beloved human mom passed away. Unfortunately a(the family did not want them) so they were sent to the shelter. We are so grateful that a wonderful person here in Illinois stepped up and said she’d foster them until they found their forever homes. Though they love each other and have been together their whole lives they are NOT bonded. They have now been spayed, fully vetted and are ready to find their forever homes. Here is what Poppy’s foster mom has to say: My name is Poppy. I am a punky little girl that loves to play with toys and other dogs. I have been around little children but am very shy around them due to my size. I’d do fine with older children best. I have learned to use a doggy door, walks good on a leash, loves attention and I will follow you around every where you go. When you sit I like to sit in your lap or on the couch. I also like to watch the cars go while looking out the window. If Poppy sounds like she’d be a good fit for you please visit the website www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org for requirements, process and applications. WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. Apply online at https://www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family (including other dogs) to approve an adoption. Only a final approval for adoption can take place after a successful meet and greet. This is done by appointments only. We will not proceed with the adoption if everyone has not met the dog. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, 4. If you do not own your home, you must provide landlord contact information on the application and a copy of your lease that outlines the rules for dog ownership in your residence. Large breed dogs will not be adopted into apartment settings or where there are breed/ size restrictions. Puppies have special needs and require a home where someone is available to care for, socialize, and give basic training. If you are gone for more than a couple hours at a time, please consider adopting a teen or older dog. 5. Adoption fees are $400.00. We accept Zelle, Cash or Checks. (Prices are subject to change without notice). 6. All dogs and puppies adopted through Forever Home are fully vetted with age appropriate vaccines. Keep in mind once you take possession of your newly adopted dog, any and all future medical costs or care is YOUR responsibility. 7. First time puppy/dog adopters will be required to sign up for and pay in advance a basic training class. A deposit of an extra 50.00 will be required until a class has been completed, it will then be returned. 8. Story
If you're looking for a low-maintenance, well-behaved, friendly and handsome seasoned citizen, Jeffrey may be your guy. Jeffrey needs a patient human companion as he is a special needs dog with three good legs and one that he struggles with. It would be best if he is in a single level home with no stairs or children; other dogs are ok. He is completely house broken, loves people and being the center of attention and will bring loads of joy into your home. Jeffrey does great in the car and on short and slow walks. In the grass he is a little more comfortable and confident with his leg.You do not need a crate for Jeffrey as he does well when left alone. He is totally flexible where he sleeps and he will sleep in-which can be a bonus if you're not an early morning person. He loves having his ears scratched, he eats well and can be content as a couch potato. Come see Jeffrey today and be prepared to have your heart strings tugged!Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog's individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don't know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Story
Hi Everyone! My name is Pudding and I am told that I am the most precious girl who is just waiting for my forever home!I'm a shy pup, (a real introvert) and I get along well with other dogs, but still learning allI can about humans. Cats are an unknown for now. Because of my horrible, previous living conditions, it is important for everyone to understand that I frighten easily and am scared by sudden movements and loud noises. I've already come a long way, but still have a lot to learn about people being good to me. I'm just starting to learn what love really is. It is probably better that I am in a home with older children, rather than younger, until I have more experience with people in general. I am completely house-broken and currently left alone for 2-3 hours at a time. When my people are gone, it's good to know that I am crate trained.I'm still trying to learn what these things are that they call "toys". They look fun, but I'm not too sure what to do with them. It's the same with playing "fetch". What does that mean? I do absolutely love car rides. Walking on that thing they call a leash is still a work in progress. I did have a rough start to life, but I am in no way aggressive or show any signs of resource guarding. I think that with patience, consistency, training, and another dog companion, I will thrive. If I sound like the pup for you, please fill out an adoption application.Adoption fee is $320Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Max was purchased from a breeder in New York. He lived with a nice family until they needed to move. They contacted ARF so that Max could find a perfect family to love him. Max is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! July 22, 2024, 8:01 pm
