Summer is a gorgeous 2-year-old Shih Tzu mix with a big personality and an even bigger love for food and fun! This happy, energetic girl loves to play with toys, snuggle up for pets, and make new human friends wherever she goes. She’s very food motivated, which makes training a breeze—although she’s still working on her manners when it comes to treats (she tends to leap first and ask questions later!). Summer is being crate trained and does great sleeping in her crate at night. She’s always up for attention and affection. While she seems pretty indifferent to other dogs, her people are her favorite. With a little continued guidance on patience and polite treat-taking, Summer is going to make a wonderful, joyful addition to a loving home! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). Miss Grace (grace) was found as a stray locally. She`s a young adult and weighs 11 lbs. Breed???She has Shih-tzu hair so she will need a regular grooming. She`s really soft. Grace has never met a stranger. She loves everyone human or dogs. She`s all about play and has a lot of energy. She loves toys and will play with any dog. Unfortunately she is unaware some dogs may not like her. She always wants her foster brothers to play and may be a little pesty. She would love a human kid to run around with but would probably be a trip hazard for someone not so steady on their feet. We are working on not walking between my feet or waiting to go down the stairs. She may have tripped me a time or two. She so quiet sometimes you don`t realize she`s there.Grace doesn`t mind being touched on her feet or face or even her tail. Now if you put your face close to her you are going to get licked... Grace is housebroken and walks ok on a leash. She just needs a little work on not pulling. She sleeps in bed with her human sister but is crated when no one is home. She`s still very puppy. I haven`t heard her bark yet. She doesn`t bark when my own dogs go crazy because someone has the nerve to walk by the yard. She just gets excited hoping they will come pet her.This is a Pay It Forward dog. This means the adoption donation of $650 will help to save another pup needing rescue and vetting. Ebony and Ivory are a bonded pair looking for a forever home together.Ebony (14 lbs.) and Ivory (8 lbs.) were local strays. They were in terrible shape when found and horribly matted.Now that these sweet girls are safe with AHF, they`re looking and feeling so much better. Ivory loves to cuddle, and Ebony is more playful but loves cuddling too. They`re both very loving. We think Ivory is a maltese mix and Ebony may be a schnauzer/shih tzu mix.Both girls walk on leash. They do not get crated when their foster leaves the house and do fine confined to a large room. They get along with the other dogs in their foster home and have been friendly with kids they`ve met at adoption events. Iggy is a sweet little guy, a Shih Tzu / Toy Poodle Mix, weighing in at about 9 lbs. He is thought to be 5 years old. Iggy is an absolute perfect boy. He loves other dogs and every person he meets. He can be described as playful and active, loving and cuddly. His favorite activities including playing with toys, leash walking (harness please!) and hanging out with his people. An ideal family for Iggy is one with plenty of time to spend with him! And, be willing to buy him plenty of new toys! A moderately active household appears idea for Iggy’s balance of playfulness and calm. Small dog experience is important for an awareness of the challenges facing small dogs (coyotes, hawks, easily escaping). A secure fenced yard (above ground) is also a big advantage. Iggy is fully vetted and in overall good health. However he may be slightly visually impaired but you’d never know it. We disclose this because he may need to visit an ophthalmologist at some time in the future. If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   BENTLEY HAS DENTAL WORK SCHEDULED FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 7th AND WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AFTER. Bentley is an 8 year old male Shih Tzu who weighs in at 12 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $400.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Bentley is a very calm and potentially very loving little boy.  He came from a situation with little or no loving human interaction.  He has warmed up considerably since coming into foster care but tends to be a bit cautious.  His foster can come up to him and although his tendency is to back away he doesn't really run away.  It is pretty easy to pick him up and he is very calm. He shows no signs whatsoever of aggression or defensiveness.  Bentley loves having his face and back rubbed.  He has quite a few canine companions in his foster home and gets along with them all very well. Bentley is particularly close with Dexter - a 6 year old Maltese that came in with him.  If one of the other dogs wants to play with him he pretends to be annoyed but really loves the company.  He has the cutest little bark he converses back with them.  He is not nearly as wary as Dexter but not one to come run into your arms.  Not yet at least. He is not leash comfortable but working on it.  He has learned to use the doggie door all on his own.  Bentley does not take treats from his foster’s hand but will take them if they are left on the floor for him.   He eats very well and gets excited with the rest when their food is being prepared.  Bentley needs time and patience to become what his foster is sure will be a very loving companion. Bentley is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation!
