Our veterinary partner estimates that Gideon is 10 years old at the time of intake in February 2022.  Gideon is good with people who respect his space and he's good with other dogs, but cats--not so much!  He is an adorable, albeit grumpy, senior boy who lives life on his own terms--he will let you know when you are violating his person or his space.  He doesn't like cats and he doesn't like to be picked up; he likes to have his back rubbed, but if you hit the wrong spot, watch out!  Gideon will do best in a home with snarky dog experience, where he can be independent, and if there are children they should be older and capable of respecting Gideon and his space.  This guy's rough life has shaped him, and he deserves to spend the rest of his years in a loving, forever home with his special person who understands him and lets Gideon be Gideon.  If you are Gideon's special person, please apply online to adopt Gideon (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.      RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. He is believed to be a 10yearold Shih Tzu. Manny is already neutered. Manny asked us to share some of his personal info: Manny coughs when wearing a collar, so a harness is a better choice for him. At bedtime, he prefers to sleep beside the bed rather than on it. Puppies are not his thing—their high energy sends him trotting away—but he’s perfectly content ignoring small dogs like himself and absolutely loves the company of big, calm dogs. One of Manny’s greatest joys in life is going for car rides. He’ll run straight to the car and hop right in, as if it’s his favorite hobby. He also has an adorable snaggletooth that hangs out when he falls asleep.Outside, he has good recall and may even bellycrawl back to you through the grass, which is guaranteed to make you laugh. He’s also catfriendly, enjoys squeaky toys, and loves relaxing with you on the couch or recliner. He’s a quiet little guy who doesn’t seem to bark much at all. Manny is incredibly sweet, adores people and dogs, and carries a big, joyful personality in his tiny body.
