Story

Koa is an adorable 7 month old male cattle dog mix, who has been with us a few months, becoming socialized to a home and other dogs. He currently weighs about 20-25 pounds. In his foster home, Koa is fairly confident and very playful with the other dogs. He has become very affectionate with his foster mom, but he still prefers dogs to people. Outside of the home, Koa gets overwhelmed easily, and is shy and fearful. In the house, he still can get startled by sudden noises or movements. The ideal home would be with a family familiar with dogs who have fear and anxiety issues, and a household that has a confident resident dog that is energetic and loves to play. Koa would do best in an adult-only household that is calm and with adopters and their resident dog who have the patience and time to help him build his confidence. Meet Red! This stunning boy was rescued from an overcrowded shelter and was a staff favorite. He’s so incredibly affectionate, has played with well all other dogs, and is so happy. Red is around 35-40 pounds and likely a pitbull cattle dog mix we think. He’s up for a walk or hike, but also would just love to lounge at home or play with his foster brothers . He is crate trained and excited to find his new family! He is super mellow and well behaved by nature. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. Bobby adapted and thrived quickly in foster care. He is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight. His favorite pastime is his daily walks and hanging out with play pals in the park. Bobby is calm and docile compared to young pups his age. He would be a great candidate for family looking for a companion pet. About Bobby’s rescue: Bobby was deserted at the park, he was around six months old at the time. Volunteer posted his story on social media asking for help, but didn’t get any response. He was friendly to the park visitors and sometimes played with their dogs. During the time the volunteer was looking for foster opportunity for him. Before an organized fair held at the park, Bobby was picked up by the local shelter. Fortunately, the volunteer landed a foster family for Bobby and got him out of the shelter shortly. Bobby got out of the shell and became his old and friendly self soon afterwards. This handsome male pup is a noteworthy companion, and he’ll be happy to be by your side, wherever you go. True to his namesake, Whiskey is very sociable, and he gets along well with just about everybody. He’d be happy to cuddle with his head on your leg, as much as he’s comfortable in a gathering of people, looking for love and cheese. He gets along well with other dogs, once they’ve had a chance to meet, and although he’s never lived with a cat, I have no doubt they’d work it out amicably. Whiskey makes a great listener; he knows at least a dozen useful instructions and he can be regularly trusted to do what he’s asked, both when requested and often, without prompting. So much so, that he’s fine to let off leash in the right environment – you’ll look to see where he went, and he’ll be walking right alongside you.

Paya is a very lovable dog who can never get enough love and attention. She is only too happy to lay beside you or on your feet while you're working. She is also very food and praise motivated and a very quick learner for new commands or behaviors. She can both have an endless amount of energy to run around outside, but also spend days inside calmly when the weather outside is horrible. She interacts well with small, medium, and large dogs as she can be gentle with the small dogs but fully willing to tumble with the big dogs (and has the energy and speed to play chase with them). Her favorite activity with other dogs is to chase/be chased. She loves fetching balls. Her favorite activity is for us to separate a distance apart and call her back and forth. She is the most perfect-for-us dog we could have ever hoped for, and that is truly the reason we pushed so hard to try to keep her this past year and a half despite discovering we have strong allergies to her. **Free with home check**
