Story
Say hello to Poppy, the canine sensation that's part Aussie charm, part doggy drama! This one-year-old wonder is a herding extraordinaire, ready to bring a touch of outback enthusiasm to your home.Poppy comes with a small print, though - she's on the lookout for a cat-free palace (feline foes, beware!) and might take a hot minute to warm up to strangers. It's not rudeness; it's just her way of saying, "I'm a bit shy, but once we're pals, it's all tail wags and belly rubs!"This herding maestro isn't the biggest fan of a doggy party, but hey, who needs a crowd when you can have a one-on-one paw-ty with the right fur-iend? Poppy's all about quality over quantity, and she's a pro at acing the doggy dating game with the right introductions. If you're ready for a canine companion with a sprinkle of quirks and a whole lot of heart, Poppy is your girl! Visit her profile, and let the adventure begin. With Poppy, every day is a chance for laughter, tail wags, and maybe a few lessons in doggy diplomacy!Foster-to-Adopt!Think you and Poppy might be a match, but you want to do a trial run at home first? You can foster Poppy-meaning you'll take them home for one week with the intention of adopting them at the end of their stay. If things don't work out, you can always bring them back to us. If you're interested, come see us or contact us at adoptions@sfspca.org to learn more.

Story
Maximum cuteness, top notch social skills with dogs and people, house-trained, stair friendly, and enjoys a stroll. Is it too much to ask? Heck no! When it comes to Gin Fizz, it's the tip of the iceberg. How about a Corgi/Cattle Dog genetic mash-up resulting in spots, short legs, XL ears, and a long adorable schnozz? Lovely calm demeanor? An occasional side eye that keeps you laughing or on your toes, depending on the situation? You can have it all. This sweet girl is ready to share her charms and faithful companionship. Her wish list is short: TLC and maybe some cheese. Here's some notes from her foster: I've had Gin Fizz in my home for five days now and she's such a sweetheart! She has quite an active energy level at ten years young; we go to the park twice a day and also have outdoor time in the yard. She is potty trained to go outside. She enjoys meeting people and other dogs. Sometimes she gets a little too excited while walking on leash, so we're working on maintaining calmness when we're out. She prefers to be with me at all times. She is VERY affectionate; she'll nudge your hand for pets and roll over for belly rubs. Gin Fizz has been fine with my cat, mostly ignoring her.

Story
Paya is a very lovable dog who can never get enough love and attention! She is only too happy to lay beside you or on your feet while you're working. She is also very food and praise motivated and a very quick learner for new commands or behaviors. She can both have an endless amount of energy to run around outside, but also spend days inside calmly when the weather outside is horrible. She interacts well with small, medium, and large dogs as she can be gentle with the small dogs but fully willing to tumble with the big dogs (and has the energy and speed to play chase with them). Her favorite activity with other dogs is to chase/be chased. She loves fetching balls. Her favorite activity is for us to separate a distance apart and call her back and forth. She is the most perfect-for-us dog we could have ever hoped for, and that is truly the reason we pushed so hard to try to keep her this past year and a half despite discovering we have strong allergies to her. **Free with home check**

Story
My husband adopted Vesper in Vancouver, and we moved to San Francisco shortly after. Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties—my husband was laid off twice in the past year—we are unable to keep Vesper. This decision is heartbreaking for us, as we love her deeply. Our friends and relatives are unable to take her, so we are seeking a new loving home for her. About Vesper: Age: She is 3 years old. Personality: Vesper is very protective of her owners and loyal to family members. She is friendly, affectionate, and loves attention, especially belly rubs. Exercise Needs: Vesper needs around 30 minutes of exercise a day. She loves going on walks and playing in the park but is generally quite calm and spends most of the day sleeping. We are looking for a family who will love and care for her as much as we do. If you are interested in adopting Vesper, please contact us. We would be happy to provide more information and arrange a meeting.

This girl is full of confidence and is a quick learner. She loves going for car rides and gets excited as soon as she sees her harness. Paloma is a social butterfly who adores meeting new people and soaking up all the love and attention. Paloma is already a pro at crate training and potty training and is a bundle of joy with a tail that never stops wagging. She is currently mastering leash skills and enjoys going on pack walks in the neighborhood, where she can show off her playful side. Paloma is a pack animal and even though she's surrounded by four giant Northern breeds that are over 80 pounds, she is adapting well and learning how to communicate with them. Paloma is in search of a forever home with at least one other playful dog, where she can continue to grow and thrive. She will do best in a quieter area, as busy places can be overwhelming for her. As a high-energy, intelligent working breed mix, Paloma requires regular exercise and mental stimulation. She is 3 years old and weighs 40 pounds. If you're looking for a special companion that will bring love and excitement to your life, Paloma is the one for you! Follow Paloma's foster journey with @the_skyline_pack on Instagram. Story
Meet Toby, a sweet and playful cattle dog who is recovering from a recent trauma. He may be a little bit nervous around men at first, but should do fine with a proper introduction. Once he knows you, he’s very excited to spend time with you, walking or playing. He’s very polite on leash, sometimes whining a bit and hoping he’ll get to play with another dog. Toby can be a tad hand shy at the beginning, but he pretty quickly decides that he enjoys pets and will jump up toward your lap for more. He’s very affectionate with his people and is a great medium size, perfect for handling. Toby also enjoys a nice game of fetch. He appears to be housetrained, and would do best in a home with no kids under 12.

Story
Dog was 1 year old when adopted from SPCA. She is now about 6 yrs old. She is fairly mellow but needs her walks. She loves playing with other dogs. She is gentle but gets hyper as well. She is not good with kids, as she tries to herd them. Unsure of children within the family. Need to be wary of joggers, bikers and passerbys as you walk her. She has leash aggression and her heeling instinct kicks in and can get her into trouble. She has nipped two people, unfortunately. She is OK at dog parks. She is the older sister to Luna, who was a couple months old when they became besties.

Story
Banjo is charming, and needs to be in a rural environment with very little traffic coming and going from his home. He is very smart but he is adamant about taking hoses, But it is a lot of fun to use the hose near him unless you're trying to get something done).....he loves to leap up and bite the water. Hilarious and adorable. He will need an adult-only home who have had plenty experience with this breed. He needs more work on training and socialization. Banjo is a sweetheart he loves to go for walks, just short ones. He isn't very big into hiking and mostly just enjoys the company of his humans.
