Story
Buddy is an absolute delight!  He a little over a year old (est bd 3/31/24), but still a pure puppy at 85 pounds.  He loves to play with toys, anything with a rope, knows how to sit on command, and is working diligently on the down command! He is crate trained, house trained, and working on his leash training skills. He loves snuggles, and if you let him, he will be a lap dog (he doesn't know his own size).  He gets along great with other dogs and is very curious about our cat, but the cat has never gotten close enough to see what would happen. Buddy has a little bit of an anxious temperament around new people and places, and takes a bit of time to warm up.  The ideal home for Buddy would be one with another dog to play with and patient people to make him feel at ease. Put in an application at eapl.com His adoption fee is $375    June 6, 2025, 8:38 pm

Story
Meet Gemma! She just arrived from Texas 6/17 and is settling into her foster home in Denver She is a bit nervous of the busy outdoor world and things scare her easily so might do best in a home with another dog to play with and learn from but not needed. She is an active 1-2 year old dog that loves to go for runs. Shelter Notes: She came in with another dog. The owners divorced and no one wanted to take responsibility for her and the roommate dog. She can be a little timid at first, but warms up to people pretty quickly. She gets along well with other dogs she's met at the shelter. Spayed, up to date on shots, HW -, comes with 2 free dog training sessions, free training material, coupons to pet stores, and free FI subscription

Story
Rowan will be 5 years old on August 1st. He is smart, loyal, and full of energy. True to his breed, Rowan thrives on physical activity and mental stimulation and listens well with structure and attention. He’s affectionate and bonds deeply with his person. While he enjoys playing with other dogs at daycare, he prefers to have his home and human to himself. We believe he’ll do best as the only dog, where he can soak up all the love and form a strong one-on-one bond. He loves being outside - swimming, hiking, kayaking, camping, playing fetch, or running. He’d be thrilled with an owner who includes him in daily walks, hikes, or bike rides (with some training). Rowan isn’t just active - he needs regular activity to stay happy and well-behaved. That’s why we’re looking for a new home that better matches his lifestyle. He’ll thrive in a home with a yard or open space and someone who understands herding breeds. If you want a devoted adventure buddy, Rowan may be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Hope – From Fearful to Fearless, One Sunbeam at a Time Hope’s story began in heartbreak. Found alone on the streets of New Mexico—scared, pregnant, and unsure of the world—she barely left her crate. After tragically losing her puppies, Hope had every reason to give up. But she didn’t. Instead, she chose to heal. Today, Hope is a quiet fighter with a gentle soul. She rollerblades alongside her foster like a natural, chases sunshine across the yard, and melts into cozy naps like a pro. She’s potty trained, great with other dogs, and learning leash skills with patience and progress each day. Hope is still discovering the world—figuring out things like stairs and basements—but each small victory is a step toward the life she deserves. She's sweet, affectionate, and full of quiet resilience. Though shy at first, with time and a little love, Hope blossoms into a loyal companion who will stick by your side, heart and paw. If you believe in second chances and the magic of slow, steady healing, Hope might just be your perfect match. ##2335756##

Story
Meet Paisley – Pretty, Playful, and Full of Heart Paisley—affectionately known as Princess Paisley—is a young Australian Cattle Dog mix with confidence, brains, and a whole lot of love to give. Outgoing, social, and playful, this spunky girl brings joy and energy wherever she goes. She’s already mastered sit, lay down, spin, shake, high five, and jump, and she’s eager to keep learning—especially if there’s praise or affection involved! Paisley is crate trained, housebroken (she skipped puppy pads and went straight to outdoor potty training), and rarely barks unless she needs something. While she’s still working on her leash manners and can be a strong puller when walking with her brother, she responds well to structure and positive reinforcement. She enjoys the company of other dogs and plays well in group settings, making her a great match for an active household with canine companions. Paisley is high energy and thrives in an environment where she can stay physically and mentally engaged. She’s happiest when she gets to play outside, explore, learn new things, and then cuddle up for a cozy nap. She’s still learning not to jump when excited, especially around new people, but her loving and affectionate nature shines through. If you’re looking for a smart, spunky sidekick who’s full of heart, Paisley is ready to be your adventure buddy and cuddle companion—all rolled into one. ##2314332##

Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet young dog that needs our help. Scarlet is one of these dogs that deserves, due to her excellent temperament and all the love she'll bring to a family, to have a wonderful home filled with pure love and nurturing. Scarlet is the kind of dog that once comfortable in her environment snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder breathing her warm breath. She's so sweet and so very loving and irresistible that you can't help falling head over heels in love. Scarlet is a gorgeous 36 lb, 1 year old Australian Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog mix that is nothing but pure love. Scarlet's breeds were identified by Texas veterinarians...all we know for certain is that this sweet girl is irresistible! This pup is SO sweet and once acclimated to her new life, will make a wonderful addition to a dog-loving Colorado family. Scarlet's foster had the following to say about this sweet girl: * * * * "Scarlet is an absolute gem! She’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loves people—especially our kids (ages 7 and 12). From the start, she’s been friendly, playful, and super loving with them. When it comes to other dogs, Scarlet just needs time. She does not get along with new dogs right away, and her behavior at first might look like reactivity—but please don’t mistake this for aggression. She absolutely LOVES my dogs now and they get along great. It just didn't happen right away. With a little patience and structure, she truly blossoms. It took about 5-6 days for her to really start getting along with our two resident dogs, and now they’re cuddling, playing, and completely bonded. You can see from the video just how much she adores them now. If her future home has another dog, the adopter will need to be prepared for a rocky start and be committed to going slowly. She needs someone who won’t give up just because the first few days are hard. She’s worth it—she just needs time to build trust and settle in. Because she doesn’t enjoy meeting new dogs out and about, and takes a few days to become friends with them, Scarlet would do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can go potty without needing to take walks. Walks can be stressful when other dogs are around, and she’d rather stay in her own peaceful bubble. Scarlet is a loving, loyal girl with so much to give. She’ll thrive in a home that understands her needs and can give her a little time to warm up. Once she feels safe, her sweet, snuggly personality shines through—and she becomes a total heart-stealer." * * * * As Scarlet becomes comfortable in her forever home, she'll blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more Scarlet will shine with her accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see our wonderful girl in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some couch-time with belly rubs would be absolutely perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Scarlet the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area. Scarlet will be a loving and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible dog. She would love to have another gentle and fun dog to play with but it's not mandatory if her people are nurturing and involved. Scarlet would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and periodic cuddles throughout the day that this life-style brings. Scarlet has been fully vetted, spayed, and is up to date on her vaccinations. This supports Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. Scarlet is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Scarlet please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
