There's nothing like sweet puppy energy! Coconut is an adorable, wiggly, little guy!
Coconut is believed to be an Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix, however it is of course a bit harder for the vets to guess the breed when they are so young.
At just 6 weeks old, this little guy was found with 2 other puppies on the streets of New Mexico. Coconut will be traveling to Colorado when he is 2 months (8 weeks) old, and coming to start a new life!
Coconut is currently only 7 lbs (estimated to be about 40-50 lbs full grown). He is a perfect size to hike the Colorado trails and then at day's end, snuggle close all night long.
Coconut is a happy, playful little pup. He has showed that he really enjoys humans and other dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment with a puppy will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development.
Since Coconut is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. He will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free level 1 Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in their relationship/bonding with their people. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.
Coconut is up to date on his vaccines, but will still need a few more before it is safe for him to go out on public ground. Farfel's does not cover the cost of any additional vaccines once he goes home with a family, but we do cover the full cost of his neuter, which must be done by the time (or before) he turns 1 year old. Neuter is required by law to finalize any adoption.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.
