Story
Baxter has a joyful, wiggly personality and loves being outside. Walks? Yes please. Hiking? Even better. If you toss a toy he'll chase it, but he prefer you chase him around the yard. He's fun and loves to wrestle with bones or rope toys. Inside the home Baxter is low maintenance. He enjoys having his own space, relaxing on his bed, and hanging out nearby while you unwind. He's fully potty trained, up to date on vaccines, neutered, and completed e-collar training- including reliable off-leash skills and a great heel. Who Baxter is looking for Baxter thrives in calm predictable environments, which means he's not a match for homes with young kids. His current family loves him deeply, and re-homing Baxter comes from wanting him to live his happiest, least-stressful life. Baxter is a fantastic fit for - An adults-only or older-kids home - Someone who loves walks, exploring, or weekend adventures - A house with a yard where he can romp - Homes with cats (he does great with them!)

Story
Scarlet is a gorgeous 35 lb, 1 year old Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix that is nothing but pure love. Scarlet's breeds were identified by Texas veterinarians...all we know for certain is that this sweet girl is irresistible! Farfel's Farm & Rescue rescued Scarlet from a small shelter in New Mexico, where she was found in their dropbox outside the shelter. At the shelter she showed what a sweet girl she was, and she got a ticket to Colorado. Now Scarlet has been in a foster home in Boulder since early April and is waiting to find her perfect forever home. Scarlet's foster had the following to say about this sweet girl: * * * * "Scarlet is an absolute gem! She’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loves people — especially our kids (ages 8 and 12). From the start, she’s been friendly, playful, and super loving with them. I wouldn't recommend kids younger than 8, as she is jumpy and bouncy, but she absolutely loves our kiddos. Scarlet is pretty much potty trained now! She lets us know when she needs to go out. Scarlet would do best with an adopter who is savvy and knows herding dogs. As you can see from the photos and videos, Scarlet LOVES our dogs! It just was a bit of a rough patch in the beginning. When it comes to other dogs, Scarlet just needs time and a slow introduction. She does not get along with new dogs right away, and her behavior at first might look like reactivity—but please don’t mistake this for aggression. She absolutely LOVES my dogs now and they get along great. It just didn't happen right away. With a little patience and structure, she truly blossoms. It took about 5 days for her to really start getting along with our two resident dogs, and now they’re cuddling, playing, and completely bonded. You can see from the video just how much she adores them now. If her future home has another dog, the adopter will need to be prepared for a rocky start and be committed to going slowly. She needs someone who won’t give up just because the first few days are hard. She’s worth it—she just needs time to build trust and settle in. Scarlet would do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can go potty and play without needing to take walks. Walks can be stressful when other dogs are around, and she’d rather stay in her own peaceful bubble. However, we have been doing training walks with her to work on her leash reactivity and she is improving a LOT. One other note to share with potential adopters is that she truly is 35 lbs. She looks bigger in her photos, but she really is such a smaller, medium size! Scarlet is a loving, loyal girl with so much to give. She’ll thrive in a home that understands her needs and can give her a little time to warm up. Once she feels safe, her sweet, snuggly personality shines through—and she becomes a total heart-stealer." * * * * As Scarlet becomes comfortable in her forever home, she'll blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more Scarlet will shine with her accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see our wonderful girl in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some couch-time with belly rubs would be absolutely perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Scarlet the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area. Scarlet will be a loving and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible dog. She would love to have another gentle and fun dog to play with but it's not mandatory if her people are nurturing and involved. Scarlet would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and periodic cuddles throughout the day that this life-style brings. Scarlet has been fully vetted, spayed, and is up to date on her vaccinations. This supports Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. Scarlet is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Scarlet please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
