Story
Hi my name is Hazel and I am pretty shy, but with the help of my foster mom I am coming out of my shell. I like to go for walks, but in a calm and quiet area. I like cats... but like to chase them. So I should probably be in a house without them. I like other dogs, and being around a confident dog would probably help me gain my own self-confidence. Small kids would probably be too much for me, but older kids that can respect my need for a calm environment, would be just fine with me. Please someone just give me a chance. This animal is in a foster home. If you would like to meet this animal, go to www.souldog.org to fill out an adoption application. When submitting your adoption application make sure to submit a good clear picture of your living room, kitchen, and yard. If you rent, you must provide proof animals are allowed. We will contact references. Once the application is reviewed our adoptions coordinator will send your information to the foster to set up a meet and greet. We ask that all members of the household come for a meet and greet to ensure there are no personality clashes. If you have other dogs in the home and are meeting a dog you must bring them for the meet and greet. Filling out an adoption application does not mean you will be adopting the animal. Doing a meet and greet with one of our animals does not guarantee you are adopting the animal. We will select the family we feel is the best choice for that animal after screening and meeting applicants.

Story
We’d love for you to meet our sweet, shy, Sammie! Sammie is a 1 year old, mini-Aussie. She’s 24.8 lbs but now that she’s finished whelping her litter, we think she will slowly inch up over the 25 lbs mark. Sammie is does best in a quiet home with other dogs and a 5-6 ft privacy fence. Before she came to MHCR she didn’t get to spend much time inside, however, she’s quickly grown accustomed to the luxuries home living brings like couch and bed snuggles! Sammie is shy of kiddos at first but she warms up quickly. She’s house trained, too! Sammie is in foster in Mead, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/sammie You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Keeley was rescued at 5 weeks old off the side of the road in Wyoming! From day one she was the sweetest most expressive pup! Her nickname is Dobby for this Harry Potter loving friends. She is loyal and aware of emotions! I have always thought she would be an amazing service dog because she senses emotions. She needs to be in a home with older kids or no kids and not other pets to compete with! We have tried but unfortunately she is too stressed in our home and she would be so much happier in a home where she is the only little love!

Story
This sweet, beautiful girl is Ogallala but everyone calls her Olga. She came to Soul Dog in 2021 fearful and feral. Over the past year in her current foster home, she has gradually blossomed from spending all her time cowering in the corner to spending most of her time lying relaxed in the corner. Olga is very fearful, but also very sweet and gentle. Her instinct is to get away, avoid detection, and be left alone. For the first several months in her current foster home, Olga hid in her selected corner and only snuck around at night to eat. She is not housebroken and has selected a spot in the house where she feels safe going potty. After several months in the house, she started to feel comfortable enough to look out the windows, and then even venture outside onto the balcony. As she has gotten comfortable and gained confidence, she has begun to show affection, as well as a bit of a playful, rambunctious side. She will occasionally join the family on the sofa and will even solicit attention once in a while. She hit a big milestone a couple months ago when she started barking at people from the window and balcony instead of hiding from them. (We are now working on stopping that behavior.) Although she has gained a lot of confidence, Olga still has a lot of fears and triggers. She is terrified of people and loud sounds, and anything that sounds like banging. The sounds of roofers or even kids playing basketball will send her running. She is a master escape artist and bolts when she gets scared, so you will need to be careful and vigilant and have a solid fence. She will go to her next home with a GPS collar just in case. She has come a long way over the past year with her foster and is starting to learn that some people and places aren't so bad. She needs a kind and understanding person to give her the patience, quiet, time, and love that she desperately needs.
