Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Say hello to Lincoln! He is a very high energy, active and sweet 2-year-old, 40 lb Australian Shepherd. He is a happy boy and loves to get attention from his people! He will do great with a family that understands herding dogs and their needs. He can be strong willed and is still working on basic obedience and will need a family that will continue his training. He is working on not jumping up and mouthing right now so he needs an adult only home or a home with kids over 14. He is super sweet, but he has a lot of happy and unfocused energy. He is very smart and will thrive with training. He would love to be in a home in a suburban or rural neighborhood with a securely fenced yard for him to run and play. He will do best in a home where someone is home much of the time. He likes other dogs but can play very rough with them and would rather spend time with his humans so for that reason we are looking for a home for him as an only dog or with another dog who is able to handle his rough play. He will need an adopter that will keep him physically and mentally active and would make a great jogging or adventure buddy. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $450.

Story
IMMEDIATE FOSTER NEEDED: Meet Fury! He is a 9-year-old, 55 lb Blue Merle AKC registered Australian Shepherd who was surrendered to us as his owner could no longer care for him. Fury loves to be petted, pampered and groomed. He likes playing by himself with soccer balls and plushie toys, tossing and chasing them around. He also loves to lounge in the sunshine! Fury would like to find himself his very own retirement home where he can be an only dog with his own securely fenced yard to relax in during the day, and a cozy kennel at night. He would do best in a home where he can be the only pet, soaking up all the love and attention. He walks well on a leash for the most part but can be leash reactive and he does not care for other male dogs or dogs who get in his face on leash. He would do best in a quiet suburban or rural neighborhood. Fury has been gentle with the young child in his previous home under supervision but in typical herding fashion nips at anyone who runs next to him, so it is recommended that he goes to an adult only home or with children over 12. Fury has recently had a dental and is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. As a senior boy, he deserves more than spending his golden years in a commercial kennel and we are looking for a foster family who want to love him and care for him for the rest of his life.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Introducing Jager! He is an adorable 1-year-old, 31lb Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA. Jager is a ball of energetic love and incredibly smart. He will need continued structure and training but is treat motivated and a quick study which helps with training. He would do best in a young, active household that would take him on daily walks, runs, hikes, and adventures. He is very smart and learns quickly. Jager will need to continue to work on basic obedience and leash work. He is housetrained, crate trained and loves to go for car rides. He loves playing with other dogs and would love to have another playful dog in the home. He can be very bouncy and still has some puppy nibbles, so we recommend no small children or dog savvy children. When he’s not chewing his toys or running around, he likes to relax curled up right next to you or his dog buddies. This fluffy, outgoing, and spunky guy will make a fun addition to any lucky household that adopts him! Jager is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Pippin! A stunningly, beautiful 11-month-old Australian Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA with his brother. He was picked up as a stray at 4 months, adopted out at 5 months, and returned to us at 11 months as his family could no longer care for him. Lucky for you, he got a jump-start in his training from them - already a pro at potty training, quietly sleeping in his crate at night, hanging out quietly at home alone, and working on his manners. He is true to his breed mix - wicked smart and a fast learner, loyal, loving, energetic, happy and ready for any adventure. A classic "velcro" dog, he will join you wherever you are in the house, and loves just being with you, always with that big smile on his face! That said, he understands that his humans need to go do stuff that doggies can't, and when he's had his physical and mental stimulation needs met, he does great with alone time, patiently and quietly waiting to give you kisses and happy tail wags upon your return. He is full of energy but also has an off switch, able to settle when needed once he's had a chance to work his mind and body. He is a lover of scratches and pets but not much of a cuddler, he will just curl up on the edge of the couch, on the floor right next to you, or in a secluded corner of the room where he feels safe in his "den." Extroverted and easily adaptable, he has received rave reviews when boarded at others' homes with other dogs and older children. At 32lbs and almost fully grown, he's the goldilocks size - big enough to be nimble on those outdoor adventures, but small enough you can pick him up if you need to, and he won't take up the whole back seat! Pippin is always ready to be active outside, and loves sniffing around in new places. He especially loves running around on the beach, playing in the water, finding good driftwood sticks, and exploring our rocky WA coastlines. He is a fast learner with strong food motivation and is eager to please. He knows basic obedience commands and quickly adapts to a daily routine and structure. He is potty trained, sleeps quietly in his crate at night, and is quiet and content when home alone (though he still requires supervision when not in a puppy-proofed space, as he still likes to bite and chew interesting things around the house!). He is quickly improving at walking nicely on a leash and is making good progress on being comfortable with basic grooming tasks like brushing and nail trimming. He does wonderfully off-leash, always checking in to make sure you're nearby and responding well to commands to wait up or to take the other fork in the road. His recall is quite good in most situations, even from a great distance, though not yet bulletproof when there are strong distractions like another dog eager to play. He is still working on curbing his mouthiness when excited or when people walk away from him - he just wants you to stay near and play with him! So, we are recommending an adult only home or a home with older children. Being the life of the party and good-natured, Pippin does well with other dogs, playing nicely and understanding other dogs' signals. When he meets another dog on his level of athleticism, he loves running with them, taking turns playing chase! He also goes nuts for his herding ball and flirt pole, in addition to classic things like fetch and catching balls in his mouth. He would love another playmate in the home to keep him well socialized. Like many herding dogs, Pippin can be territorial about his home space, vocally reacting to perceived intruders near the home, including visitors. Because of this, he's not yet ready to do well in living situations with shared walls. Once new people are welcomed into the home, however, Pippin is happy and excited to meet them (though he is still working on not jumping up to say hello!). He is still a little overexcited and unsure/curious with small children, so supervision is key, and sometimes he just needs to be separated. Pippin is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Meet Magellan! He had been living on the street for a few months when someone asked if we could take him in. He’s sooooo happy and bouncy! He weighs 51 pounds and is about a year old, still a baby with sparkling white teeth! He is GREAT with the other dogs in the yard, but plays a little too rough for smaller dogs. He has a chill disposition and isn’t dominant with the other dogs. Magellan is super smart and did great during his brief time in a temporary home. He learned sit and down quickly, and he does well in his crate. He loves to cuddle. Magellan loves to play! He would be a great addition to any home!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.June 21, 2024, 10:29 pm
