Dakota is a sweet Mini Australian Shepherd who needs a family that can provide more love than we are able to at this point. Dakota loves a task to do and being active. We took Dakota in from a puppy mill when she was 6 months old and have done the best we could to get her trained, but unfortunately my wife and I have travelled so much for work that we have never been able to instill that strong foundation Dakota needs. She has great name recall and is able to do all of the basic commands, but she is not great walking on a leash and is very barky when she sees another dog. Dakota would need to be in a house where she is the only pet and there are no little kids. A few months ago Dakota got defensive and bit my wife and as we are expecting a newborn, we need to find Dakota a new family.

Sweet Poppy came to us as an owner surrender due to no fault of her owner. Her family needed to downsize to an apartment and it was not a suitable environment for her. Poppy is very active and needs to be in a freestanding home with a yard outside of the city. She is a 4-year-old Australian Shepherd. Her previous owner describes her as the sweetest angel who will give you all of her love and loves to cuddle. She is fully house trained and won’t potty inside if she is on a routine schedule. She is an active girl who loves to go on walks, running and hiking. She will need an adopter who is active and will keep up on her exercise. She loves to play with squeaky toys. She is also playful and loves other dogs and would do well with another dog friend in the home or could do well by herself as long as she continues to be socialized with other dogs. She is a beautiful girl and will need to be routinely brushed out. She was shaved in the past but should not be shaved again, just regular grooming for this girl. She has a high prey drive so no small animals in the home with her. She has a cat in the home before but cannot be left unattended with them, so we are recommending no cats for her. FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Fury! He is a 9-year-old, 55 lb Blue Merle AKC registered Australian Shepherd who was surrendered to us as his owner could no longer care for him. Fury loves to be petted, pampered and groomed. He likes to play by himself with soccer balls and plushie toys, he tosses then around and chases them independently. He loves to lounge in the sunshine. Fury would like to find himself his very own retirement home where he can be an only dog with his own securely fenced yard to relax in during the day, and a cozy kennel at night. He would do best in a home where he can be the only pet. He walks well on a leash for the most part but can be leash reactive and he does not care for other male dogs or dogs who get in his face on leash. He will lunge at cars that pass by as his herding breed instinct takes over. For this reason, he would do best in a quiet suburban or rural neighborhood. He’s been gentle with the young child in his previous home under supervision but nips at the butts of anyone who runs next to him so it is recommended that he goes to an adult only home or with children over 12. When feeding time comes around, he acts as if he is going to be food aggressive/possessive by growling and sounding scary but is really just a marshmallow with no follow through. Animal Profile: Ellie is an estimated 2-year-old female mixed breed (her paperwork says Border Collie but we think McNab possibly with lab or pittie) who was rescued as a stray on the streets of Texas. She currently weighs about 50 lbs. Seattle Foster Update: Ellie is a very fun loving and affectionate dog who is adjusting well to foster care. She has not met a stranger and enjoys pets, belly rubs, and playing fetch with all people. She loves to do zoomies and is so funny when she runs at full speed -- she makes the funniest faces! She is super smart and food motivated which is helpful with training, but she also lacks impulse control (wants to do everything at 110%) so she will need a structured home that can set and consistently enforce boundaries such as being calm coming out of the crate and going through doorways, walking in a structured heel on a training collar, and practicing place in the house. (She is staying in "place" for over an hour at a time, except for when there's some big distraction.) Ellie now has a good foundation and knows loose leash walking with a confident handler, and is crate trained. All she needs is the right home. Ellie loves car rides and playing tug. She is quiet and content in her crate. She loves to play with other dogs but has a rude play style so would do best with a tolerant playful dog in the home, or as the only dog. She has lived with cats in the past but does need a lot of management with them so would do best without cats in the home as well. While she is friendly with children, older kids would be best due to Ellie's size and general enthusiasm for life.
