Story
Hi, my name is Maddie Fortune! I'm a beautiful six-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler and I weigh about 52 pounds. My world changed when my owner had to move into a nursing care facility. My best friend, Freckles, and I lost the only home we had ever known, but thankfully a wonderful rescue stepped in to help us find the loving forever homes we deserve. I'm a sweet, gentle girl with a calm nature. Since coming into rescue, Ive learned how to walk on a leash something I never needed before because I had a large fenced yard where I could run and explore. I enjoy going on walks and spending time with my people, but I prefer quieter environments over busy, hectic ones. I'm still building my confidence with new experiences, so I'll do best in a home with a securely fenced yard while I settle in. Because of my personality, my caregivers don't think an apartment or condo without a yard would be the right fit for me. With a little patience and encouragement, my confidence continues to grow every day. I get along well with other dogs, I'm calm and well-mannered in the house, and I'm not much of a barker. Ive also spent time around my family's grandchildren and did very well. I haven't been around cats, so I'm hoping for a home without feline roommates. I'm house trained, crate trained, heartworm negative, and currently on heartworm prevention. I'm also spayed, microchipped, healthy, and up to date on all of my vaccinations. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion who will quietly steal your heart, I just might be the perfect match. We're looking for a loving foster home that can care for Lillian and her litter for 6+ weeks while she has her babies and they grow. Lillian herself isn't up for adoption. After her puppies are weaned she'll be spayed and go back to her home, and her puppies will be looking for their forever families! He is currently around three years old, I got him from someone who couldn’t keep him anymore when he was just 1 year old. The kind of home that I'm hoping would take him is a home in which he can be the only dog or at least amongst others his size. He isn't aware of his strength but still deserves to be loved. Great ways to describe him is loving, curious, adventurous and quite an appetite. He can be a bit nervous at times but generally means well, just wasn't truly socialized as a pup. He does well as a home body but would also be very great for those that are active.

The reason that I'm trying to find another home for him, is he doesn't take too well from male dogs and the male dog we have at home is a third of his size. He takes quite an offense when a male dog corrects him and its best if that male dog was atleast his size. Otherwise with the other dogs we have he's fine with but we assume it’s because the other ones are female.Bonus: Is leash trained, and can sit and lay
