Story
I am Messi. I am from Arkansas. From the foster: Messi is very sweet and very smart! It's been a pleasure to work with her this past week. She's learned not to be afraid of cars, to walk on a leash in the city, to chase a ball, to ride in the car and stay in her seat, to go to the dog park (and to leave willingly), and so much more. She came to me extremely sheltered, but her curiosity and smarts have really led her start enjoying the world. She's still a puppy and has yet to learn how to potty outside. She's crate and pad trained, and working on going outside - we've had a few triumphs at the dog park! She's very quiet, a little submissive and unsure about a lot of things - but loving and playful. She LOVES people and other dogs, and would do best with another dog friend, and a fenced yard to show to her how it's done. She's a pleasure to be around! Messi needs firm, consistent direction and communication - she responds really quickly to this. Once she gets the basics down, she could really excel in the tricks department. When she knows what to do, she really listens, and responds quickly. She also LOVES other dogs, she's very playful, and loves to run at the High Bridge dog park, in Saint Paul. Having another dog and a fenced yard will go a long way in getting her away from the potty pads.

Story
Hi! My name is Mary Anne, but my foster parents call me Annie for short. I am a beagle/collie mix, just shy of my first birthday, and my foster mom says I am a really, really good girl. Here are some things I have mastered, in my first 10 months of life: - Sit, Stay, and lay down - I know that dogs go potty outside, and that's where I go! - Crate time - my foster parents work a traditional M-F schedule, and as long as I get exercise before/after I am very comfortable in my crate. - I love going for walks in the city. I just went on my first outdoor hike near St Croix with my foster parents and it was magical! Even though I am from the south, I am not afraid of snow/cold one bit. - I love the dog park! If you're looking for a dog park buddy, I am your girl. I especially love little doggies, they are my favorite. - I love other doggies in the home, but I do best when we get to know each other slow and supervised. - I am a good eater, and am working on good boundaries with my foster parents and corgi foster brother. Here are some areas I need a little guidance, patience, and love and I am sure to grow! - I can sometimes be afraid of dogs or people approaching when I am on leash. I am working with my foster mom on this, building confidence using que words "look at me and "leave it. When I respond the way she likes, I get LOTS of hot dog pieces. - I LOVE my family. I love the people I bond with, and while this can be an endearing part of my personality, it can make it challenging for me to accept new people/pets in the home. I do best with slow introductions, firm/consistent direction, and my own space to settle when I am feeling overwhelmed. - I am most comfortable around people that are confident around dogs. This include the big and little people. I do well with kids that are confident, they help me feel more relaxed and less like I need to manage the situation. I would benefit from some additional training in this area, so I can be a cool, confident, and comfortable dog with my forever family. From the foster: I have fostered a few animals at this point, and I can say Annie completely has my heart. She is loyal, silly, loving, and incredibly smart. Annie will be someone's soul dog, I just know it . Annie settled into our home easily, but like all dogs Annie has some areas where she could use some help/training to be the incredible dog we already know she is. We are committed to finding the best possible fit for Annie, and know that she will make her future family happy and fulfilled. While a companion animal is certainly not necessary, I believe Annie would benefit from having another dog in the home to show her the ropes and be another companion for her. She loves our resident corgi, and generally shows better behavior when she is with him.

Story
I am Ginger. I am from Arkansas. From her foster: Ginger is a laid back kind of gal that needs an easy walk each day and most of the time she snoozes on the couch. She would love a home with a canine pal! She can get scared of new situations even if she hears a neighbor outside she will run inside hiding and startled. She loves to play with our dogs and so I am going to stipulate because of her background and her beagle breed she needs another dog in the home to feel comfortable and not afraid. Ginger loves the car and gladly goes for a car ride. If you are looking for an active type of dog Ginger is not for you she is kind of lazy which is perfect for a home that wants a dog that just hangs around enjoying life especially laying around in the kitchen.. I have not managed to get her to go potty on a leash when I walk her each day. She holds herself and them promptly goes to the bathroom off leash at home in a fenced yard. Something to think about if you don't have a yard.

Story
Hi, I am Queen. I am a 7 year old beagle mix from Arkansas. My foster parents cannot say enough good things about me and know I will be the perfect companion to a lucky family. I am completely potty and crate trained and have had no accidents even with foster mom and dad being at work. I absolutely love all people and have the friendliest/silliest disposition. I get along great with my foster dog and cat sister, though when I see another dog outside walking sometimes I get vocal, I just want to be friends so bad! But inside the apartment/house I am respectful and quiet. One quirky thing about me that should be mentioned..I do sometimes try to eat cat litter if I have access to my cat sisters litter box, so mom and dad keep me separated from it. I am a huge cuddler and love pets and affection. There's something I love even more though...TREATS. I will do just about anything for a treat and I will make sure no crumb is left on your floor :) I came to my foster parents a little overweight so we are working on a healthy diet and lots of exercise! Even though I am middle aged I am super active, I love going for walks and playing fetch with toys! I would be the perfect companion to any type of family if given the chance.
