Rambler (6yo, 50lb) is a presumed Beagle/Lab/Terrier mix and needs a home with another dog around his size & age to show him that being a dog IS pretty cool! Rambler came to us from a background of hardship. We aren't sure about his whole story, but came to rescue as a meek and skinny boy and was missing half of his ear. He also came to rescue with heartworm. He was successfully treated and has been diligently kept on Heartguard (Tri Heart Plus) ever since. He has made HUGE progress since being in rescue. This guy deserves to find his forever home. He is working on trusting humans, new dogs, and being away from his foster mom. We think Rambler would do best in a laid-back home with a solid 6ft fence, a confident dog, and a human who is patient and ready for him to break out of his shell. He is crate trained, potty trained, walks well on a leash, and tries to be very brave when he meets new dogs. "Treats!" is one of his favorite words! Rambler is a true diamond in the rough. He is our longest resident (Aug. 2021) and we are hopeful that his perfect human is out there. Interested in adopting? Come and meet me at our adoption event at Bruhaven, Minneapolis on 3/23 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm! **Fenced yard highly recommended ** Brigid is 18 pounds of love in a fur coat. This amazing girl was left with a large group of abandoned puppies in Texas, only some of them her own, and loved them all until she came to Healing Hearts. She continued to mother the smallest and sickest until they were ready for adoption, and now here she is, ready for her own life of love and joy. Brigid is very affectionate and loves to snuggle, as well as play (balls and crinkly toys are the best!) and patrol the yard for squirrel incursions. She is mostly potty trained, though if left for long periods she has an occasional accident. She has gotten along well with other dogs outside of protecting her little ones and loves snuggling with them if her humans aren’t available. Her canine playmates have ranged from tiny chihuahua puppies, to an older poodle puppy, to a 70 pound pittie mix, and she has adapted her play style to each extremely well. She also loves playing with cats, though a bit too much and too aggressively, so she would do best in a cat-free home. She has welcomed and loved all visitors, after a bit of door barking to let everyone know company has arrived. Not surprisingly with her beagle background, she may not be the best choice for a shared wall situation. Brigid is finally done with her motherhood journey and ready to begin her solo story. Meet Mason, a 2 year old Beagle mix. He is an absolute sweetheart once he gets to know you. Mason is very hesitant when meeting new people and will take time and patience for him to trust. He may need a couple meet and greets with potential adopters to feel comfortable. Mason cannot be kenneled as it causes great anxiety. He is free to roam the house when I’m gone and has never caused any harm. He loves kids although very small kids might be overwhelmed by him. He gets very exuberant when he gets excited and could accidentally knock a small child down. He is very food and treat motivated. He knows sit, shake with both paws, and lay down. We’re working on stay and off. Mason needs lots of leash training. He gets so excited by all the smells while walking and pulls quite a lot. He loves to run and I’m sure with some leash training he would be a great running partner, once he gets the zoomies get out of the way! Mason would do best with a fenced yard since his beagle nose tends to lead him to places he shouldn’t go. He hasn’t met another dog he doesn’t like! He would love to have a furry playmate to run and wrestle with. Mason lives with a cat and the only time he bothers her is when she runs, then he thinks she wants to play, and he will chase but has never done anything to hurt her. The vet has said Mason has some teeth that could be problems in the future so he will need yearly dental checkups and can only have soft treats. Mason is very affectionate and loves to give kisses. He loves being outside playing but is just as content cuddling on the couch. He will be a very loyal family friend to anyone who has the patience to earn his trust. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself.
