Story
Meet Russel, the charming 7-month-old male border collie mix, tipping the scales at 30 lbs. With his gentle and mild-mannered disposition, Russel is a true delight to be around. While he prefers chew bones to toys, he'll happily engage in playtime when the mood strikes. Surprisingly laid-back for a puppy, Russel is not hyper or overly energetic, making him the perfect companion for leisurely strolls or cozy evenings at home. He's mastered the art of manners, never jumping on people and always greeting them with a calm demeanor. Russel's friendly nature extends to all creatures, as he gets along famously with dogs, cats, and children. Quiet and content, Russel's love language is evident in his desire for affection – the more you pet him, the more he'll come back for more, making him the ultimate cuddle buddy for any lucky family.

Story
Aurora (Roe) was purchased from a breeder in Oklahoma. Roe is currently 14 months old and is very smart. Roe quickly learns new tricks and enjoys doing them for small treats. Roe enjoys running around the yard and home but then loves to lay near someone and relax. Enjoys sun spots in the home like most dogs. In terms of a new family, we are seeking a couple who works from home or is retired. Roe really likes to be near her family at all times and does not like to be left alone too long. No problems being left alone to run errands and such but you can tell she doesn't like to be left alone. Roe does like to go in and out numerous times a day so a home with a doggie door might be ideal (we don't have one ourselves but okay letting her in and out all day). Roe would be fine with another dog but she does like to pounce and play with other dogs so an old dog that just wants to lay around might not be a good fit.

Story
Hello everyone! My name is Willow the wild child and it’s lovely to meet you all! Let me tell you a little about myself - I’m a sweet girl who is looking for a home that’ll take me in and teach me that not all humans are bad. I was surrendered to BCRRT after I was found being left in my crate 24/7 basically with little to no human interaction. Because of this, I can be shy when it comes to new people but once I know and trust you, I could be your lap dog! Even though my foster mama thinks I'm too big to be one hehe... I would love a calm but active family that has another dog who will play zoomies with me! Someone who likes cuddles in the evening and will give me all the yummy treats I deserve (which is all of them, I promise 👀). I am around 3 years, up to date on all my yucky shots and fixed. I am around 35lbs and currently in the DFW area! I am 100% crate and house trained, dog and cat friendly and very willing to work for a treat or toy I can shred! I am not a huge fan of the car and due to previous owner, I am very skittish on a leash so would be best in a home with a fenced yard for me to play in. I didn’t like that, I love people and other dogs too much for that! I’d love a home with another fur friend to help me fully come out of my shell and learn how to be a real dog again.

Story
RJ is an AMAZING, stunning boy who is 6 years old, good with other dogs, loves truck rides, cuddles and doing country dog things!  His is a Border Collie/German Shepherd mix, weighs about 60 pounds. He is always happy and ready for an adventure! RJ is an active dog who loves to be out and about doing things with his people. That could be walking through the woods, filling up deer feeders, playing in the pound with his dog friends or just going on walks. He’s not a big fan of toys and isn’t good with free ranging chickens. He is food motivated! He can hang in there for a 3 mile walk or an all day adventure helping mow pastures. At the end of the day he knows how to turn it off and settle down. He enjoys a good days work but has no complaints on takeing a break for a day or two every now and then! He doesn’t mind turning his body into a tiny ball just so he can sit in the same chair as you. RJ was heartworm positive when he found his foster family. He helped many other foster dog get better and find their own home. He is now healthy, HW- and ready to find his forever people! The best fit for RJ will be a physically active lifestyle with people who can keep up with this very handsome, good boy! If you are an active home wanting a great, mature dog, please fill out an application at bcrrt.com!

Story
I’m Mr. Bojangles, but I'm mostly called Bo. I’m a 44 pound Border Collie, and putting on needed weight. Foster Mom thinks I spent most of my life as an outside dog, although I am housebroken. I like air conditioning and regular meals, both are new to me! Being with you is my favorite! I want to be with you ALL the time. Foster Mom is focusing on skills she says a Faithful Shadow needs. I’m learning Come, Wait, Off, Go on (move away and stay out of the way), and getting out of the way. This last was tough at the beginning because I didn’t walk well, and couldn’t move backwards at all. My hindquarters were weak. After more than a month of having food every day, a big back yard, and other dogs to follow around, I can trot with a spring in my step. I don’t jump into the car yet. I’m still working on walking backward and moving away. Why would I walk away from you? I may be a little clingy at first, so you may have to be extra patient until I feel safe in your home. We have no idea how old I am. Vet estimates have covered a wide range but we think around 10. I am now neutered and had my teeth cleaned (and one removed - I feel so much better!) My eyes look a bit odd because I have small eyeballs. The vets say this doesn’t mean much. I don’t see as well out of my left eye as I used to but my vision is not a problem for my new life! My coat has been trimmed all over, and I should have a fine rough coat by the fall. I do think thunder turns the floor to lava. Unlike most dogs, I try to climb the nearest surface to hide from thunder, it really freaks me out. I now take Sileo and I am much better. If you have to leave the house during bad weather, a strong crate may be best for me. I also like to dig. You may have to help me know where it is ok to have this kind of fun! I’m okay with other dogs, and I looooove the cat! I like to wash her head, and she lets me do it. My Foster Mom says when I have strong hind legs again, she thinks I may be good at things like helping my owner get up after a fall, and fetching, that I am Border Collie Smart, and enjoy learning — after all, when you’re teaching me things, I have your attention! I hope I sound like your forever friend! Please fill out an application at BCRRT.COM to adopt me!

Story
Hi my name is Teddy and I am ready to find my forever family. I’m full of fun loving energy and adore long walks through the neighborhood and playing ball in the backyard. (I’ll help you keep that exercise resolution you made!) I enjoy roughhousing with my foster brother and sister, so an energetic canine sibling would be just grand. I have not been officially cat tested, but enjoy barking at and pulling on the leash to chase the cats I see on my daily walks. Being that I am still a puppy at a year old and 40 pounds, I will do best with kids over 10, although I do fine with tiny humans as young as a year old for short periods of time. I am 100% potty trained, vetted and crate trained. Although I can be vocal in the crate, I don't play Houdini and make great escapes. I am being fostered in Amarillo but can travel to my new family. I am healthy, neutered, and fully vaccinated.

Story
Meet Ranger! He’s one grand slam of a dog 🐶 He loves to cheer on his favorite people! He will hype you up when you look like you’re having fun 😁Yes he barks - but not at doorbells or strangers like other dogs - he’s an excited barker that just likes to get in on the fun! Did I mention fun? This dog is a party animal (yes, pun intended). He’s already fostered in a home with 4 kids but he’s really in his element when those kids have friends over. We’ve had two birthday parties and Ranger loves to be the center of attention!! He had a blast making s’mores at the fire pit with 6 teenagers last weekend. Ranger’s a big boy at 53 pounds and he is working on keeping all paws on the ground (especially when greeting people). He will need training classes to be World Series ready! He loves car rides & gets along with dogs at the doggie park and Tractor Supply. He hasn’t lived with another dog yet, so be prepared for ample training and very slow introductions to a shared home if you have other doggies. Ranger’s 2 1/2 yrs old, house trained, sleeps quietly in his crate, neutered, up to date on shots/ HW, and currently fostered North of San Antonio.

Story
Hiya! My name is Callie and I am a 4-year-old Aussie/Lab mix. I've got lots going for me and can't wait to find a family I can adore fur-ever!! My foster momma is doing a great job loving me and I'll make.a fabulous addition to my new family!! I cam to the shelter after I'd been found laying in the street after getting struck by a car. Fortunately, I wasn't injured too severely and after a couple weeks to recoup, I've been good as new! My foster momma says I am laid back, happy and friendly. I love air conditioning, puppies, and treats. I am house and crate trained to boot! I am a little selective with my female adult doggie friends but so far, I haven't met a puppy or male dog I haven't liked. Oh... maybe I should tell you one last thing about me. The reason I probably got hit by a car is that I didn't know it was coming. My eyesight works great but my hearing doesn't I am deaf and since I didn't hear the car coming from behind me, I wasn't able to get out of the way in time. But that sure doesn't stop me from loving life! Contact the shelter and they'll put you in touch with my foster mom and she'll tell you how awesome I am!!

Hi, I'm Penny! Don't you think I'm a cutie? I may have had a rough start, but thanks to my rescuers, life is looking up! Now, all I need is a loving family to call my own. I'm a happy, healthy girl who's eager to learn and grow. Very Treat Motivated. With a little guidance, I'll be the best companion you could ask for. I love to play, ride in the car, and I'm great with kids. While I haven't met any cats yet, I'm open to new friends! As for other dogs, I get along with most, but it's always best to meet beforehand. Plus, I'm a pro on the leash and can't wait to explore the world with you on walks!
