Story

We have 2 adult cats that need to be rehomed. Hazel (7 yrs) is the mamma, she is the black/brown cat. Momo (5yrs) old is the daughter and she is the calico. We had to take them in due to my grandfather passing away and not wanting them to go to the shelter. Unfortunately, we can’t keep them because we are not sure if they will be okay around our dogs. They were around more senior dogs and that was fine, however we don’t want to chance them being in a more active household with a dog that is a hunter. Both cats are very chill and we would prefer them to go into a household that already has cats or non at all. They both have grown up around kids and people and are very friendly. Hazel is much more interactive than Momo, since it takes her more time to come around. They both are low maintenance cats but they need more attention by people who have a more flexible schedule also.Their favorite thing to do is sun bath by the windows and cat cry to you when they are in need of your attention

Hi! My name is Sweetums. I got my name from you guessed it…being so sweet. I was originally brought into TexasCARES as a pregnant momma. I was the best momma and all of my babies got adopted. I was adopted too but somehow I found myself back on the street and fending for myself. I didn’t deserve that and I am so happy to be back inside and safe. Because I was living on the streets, I am cautious of new people. Once you build my trust, I will love you forever!  I am not a big fan of other cats and dogs probably due to having to live in such a stressful situation outside. Everything was pretty scary for me. I would love to be an only pet in a home with a caring person or family who would let me cuddle by their side. Older kids that don’t want to carry me around would be fine. I do love pets and playing with toys is my favorite. Any wand toy will keep me endlessly entertained. I sure hope you will consider giving me my forever home! I promise I am so worth it.      NOTE:   While currently in great health, Sweetums has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).  Many FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives with no symptoms at all, especially when raised exclusively indoors.   However, FIV can weaken a cat’s immune system over a period of years so proactive vet care is crucial.  FIV is not communicable to people or other pets such as dogs, rabbits, etc.  The virus is not spread among cats through casual contact such as shared food/water/litter, mutual grooming, or playing.  It is most commonly spread through deep bite wounds inflicted as part of serious aggression among cats.   We encourage you to do some research on FIV – too many great kitties get passed over due to outdated or inaccurate information about this condition.  April 25, 2024, 7:39 pm

All of our cats are current on vaccines, combo tested (FIV/FELV) , spayed/neutered, microchipped, given rabies vaccine as age appropriate, flea treatment and dewormer as needed   Harriett Female, spayed DOB: 2009 Meet Harriett. She’s a beautiful, long-haired calico senior who recently came up from the Galveston Humane Society to Dallas. We don’t know her story, but our guess is her owner either went to a nursing home or passed away. Harriett is very sweet and loves to be petted and gently brushed. She’s content sitting quietly. Her foster mom says Harriett would love to be someone’s lap kitty. Because of her age, she needs to be in a low key household. An update on Harriet.  She had abnormal kidney function on recent labwork.  So we started fluid therapy.  The fluids are helping as she's eating almost normally now and is a little bit more active PH**Want to adopt? SWEET AND SOMEWHAT TIMID, NEEDS FAIRLY CALM AND LOVING PEOPLE. GREAT WITH RESPECTFUL OLDER KIDS AND ADULTS, BUT NEEDS TO BE THE ONLY PET. I'm a handsome guy with the cutest face! I'm sweet and very easy going. At times I love to talk, so we'll have some good conversations! I'm very lovable too, I love gentle pets and snuggles with you. I'm only a little shy at first and as I get to know everyone and get settled in, but I'm still always friendly. I don't play much with my little toys yet, but I love laying in any of the tunnels here! Help me learn to have fun, but go gently with our wand toys to get started. I REALLY like playing with the toy that moves under a round sheet. Please reward me with a few yummy treats everyday. I'm pretty good at taking them right from you if you hold them out! If you miss me, I'm just somewhere exploring for new places to lay, and will probably come if you call. I like having a place to myself set up in the main room with everybody. I just need a nice large bed to curl up or stretch out in a quiet corner or under a desk. Maybe a large covered house too. Cat trees with larger shelves are nice for relaxing and good for looking out the window. I DO NEED a litter box with extra high sides, since I sometimes raise up doing my #1 business. I'm not used to being held very much, and not really a lap cat so far, but I'm a very sweet boy that you'll easily enjoy spending lots of time with!

VERY MELLOW FELLOW WOULD ENJOY A FAMILY THAT'S NOT TOO LOUD AND ENJOYS JUST HANGING OUT TOGETHER A LOT. GENTLE KIDS OKAY. NEEDS TO BE AN ONLY PET AND HAPPY WITH LOTS OF ATTENTION. I seem to always be cool as a cucumber. I'll slowly check everything out and then settle into my new home very quickly with just a little comforting sweet talk, love and attention! I'm an easygoing, friendly boy that often quietly sits off to myself, but I won't hide much, because I also love to be around people. I'll just find my own comfy spot in the room to lounge around, or come sit next to someone. Come over and give me a cuddle anytime! I'm not used to being held much yet, but I love laying in your lap and getting kisses on my head once we're better acquainted! I like to have my nose stroked also! Bring me a few delicious treats and I will take them one at a time as you hold them out! You can tell that toys are something new, but I can often be persuaded to join in with you and our wand toys. I don't mind having mismatched "socks" on my feet, but I'm still a little cautious about letting go and being silly, so go slow at first with the wand and I will get better as we go along. You'll enjoy teaching me to have fun! I'll adore having a bed on the floor or a large covered bed or cube, but I'll also often be off the floor with a blanket on the furniture, or in a cat tree watching all around me and looking outside. I'm sure we'll be great snuggle buddies almost right away and enjoy having lots of time relaxing together!
