Story
All of our cats are current on vaccines, combo tested (FIV/FELV) , spayed/neutered, microchipped, given rabies vaccine as age appropriate, flea treatment and dewormer as needed   Harriett Female, spayed DOB: 2009 Meet Harriett. She’s a beautiful, long-haired calico senior who recently came up from the Galveston Humane Society to Dallas. We don’t know her story, but our guess is her owner either went to a nursing home or passed away. Harriett is very sweet and loves to be petted and gently brushed. She’s content sitting quietly. Her foster mom says Harriett would love to be someone’s lap kitty. Because of her age, she needs to be in a low key household. An update on Harriet.  She had abnormal kidney function on recent labwork.  So we started fluid therapy.  The fluids are helping as she's eating almost normally now and is a little bit more active PH**Want to adopt? If your're a Harry Potter fan, you'll recognize where she gets her name from! She loves to explore the house and her favorite game to play is hide and seek. She really enjoys cuddling alongside her siblings, especially with her sister Hermione, but another one of her favorite spots to rest is at the top of her cat tree under the sunlight. She grows more and more confident around humans every day and would make an adorable addition to your household. Because she is especially close to Hermione (they were brought in together), it is preferred that they be adopted together.    **Want to adopt? Story
Taylor is a beautiful DSH Calico with white female born approximately 9/12/2021. "I'm just a wisp of a girl, super sweet, and love to perch on a nice shoulder and give people a good bath. I'm very vocal and very food motivated; my fosters think that I might be trainable! I am curious about everything and have even figured out how to open cabinet doors! I am friendly with people and other cats. I enjoy interactive play with you, but when on my own, I can keep myself amused with my toys. I have a lot of energy and do my twice-a-day zooms like clock work. I enjoy watching the goings-on outside my foster room window. I also love to snuggle up close at nap time. I prefer to drink water by finding a faucet with a drip, but I am never messy." According to her foster, Taylor is a bit of a nut - a funny girl with LOTS of purr-sonality! She is so entertaining. You will fall in love with her! Taylor is microchipped and currently in a foster home. Her adoption fee is $105.April 21, 2024, 10:34 am

Story
Penny is a beautiful DSH Calico female born approximately 9/1/2023. Her coat is very striking as it is a combination of calico, tortoiseshell, and tabby. Her eyes and eyeliner are a lovely copper color. Penny came to NBCR through a neighborhood TNR. An NBCR volunteer was helping a neighbor and agreed to transport and hold Penny for the recovery period, then she was to be released back into the neighborhood. Once inside, though, it was clear that this tiny 6-pound girl was just too little, too sweet, and too loving to be put back outside. It's hard to believe such a gentle little girl was managing on her own! Right now Penny is enjoying being inside with a nice, comfy bed (or 2!), plenty of food, and lots of love. She is also discovering the pleasure of scratchers, toys, and treats. She is remarkably well-adjusted and confident for being outside on her own.  "She is just so stinkin' cute!" can be heard about a thousand times a day in Penny's foster home. Penny is extremely affectionate and likes nothing better than to curl up in your lap, knead, and purr up a storm (and has recently been known to do a little drooling.) Although she would be happy to be with peeps 24 hours a day, she is quite content in her foster room playing on her own, watching birds and neighborhood activity from the window, or taking a little nap. Her favorite toys are puff balls and Da Bee wand toy. She has very good kitty manners and uses her litter box faithfully. We aren't sure how Penny will be with other cats and dogs. She is in a foster home with other cats, but hasn't spent time with them yet. She does allow her foster mom to carry her throughout the house to say "Hi!" though. :)  Penny is currently eating Purina One Advantage turkey hard food and Fancy Feast canned food. (She's not a fan of pate.  The neighbor was feeding her Costco rotisserie chicken, so she's a bit spoiled... haha) If you are looking for a too cute little lovebug, Penny is your girl! Penny is microchipped and currently in a foster home. Her adoption fee is $105.April 21, 2024, 10:34 am

Pixy is a gentle and loving cat, I hate to have to give her up but my schedule is so busy and I hate the guilt that comes with not giving her as much love as she deserves. She hardly bites, only when you scratch her stomach and those are always playful bites. She loves cuddling and sitting in your lap and following you everywhere, it’s the cutest thing ever. She isn’t a lot to maintain and keep clean. Loves baths and loves getting her claws trimmed.

Story
Hi! My name is Sweetums. I got my name from you guessed it…being so sweet. I was originally brought into TexasCARES as a pregnant momma. I was the best momma and all of my babies got adopted. I was adopted too but somehow I found myself back on the street and fending for myself. I didn’t deserve that and I am so happy to be back inside and safe. Because I was living on the streets, I am cautious of new people. Once you build my trust, I will love you forever!  I am not a big fan of other cats and dogs probably due to having to live in such a stressful situation outside. Everything was pretty scary for me. I would love to be an only pet in a home with a caring person or family who would let me cuddle by their side. Older kids that don’t want to carry me around would be fine. I do love pets and playing with toys is my favorite. Any wand toy will keep me endlessly entertained. I sure hope you will consider giving me my forever home! I promise I am so worth it.      NOTE:   While currently in great health, Sweetums has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).  Many FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives with no symptoms at all, especially when raised exclusively indoors.   However, FIV can weaken a cat’s immune system over a period of years so proactive vet care is crucial.  FIV is not communicable to people or other pets such as dogs, rabbits, etc.  The virus is not spread among cats through casual contact such as shared food/water/litter, mutual grooming, or playing.  It is most commonly spread through deep bite wounds inflicted as part of serious aggression among cats.   We encourage you to do some research on FIV – too many great kitties get passed over due to outdated or inaccurate information about this condition.  April 22, 2024, 8:37 pm

Story
Lily and Millie are sister cats that I got from the animal shelter after my dog passed away. I did not think I wanted to get another dog so I decided to get these cats. I must confess now that I am NOT a cat person. I have tried to be patient with them but they are active cats and I am older and do not have the time of desire to play with them. I would really like to place them together. They are very sweet cats and deserve to have a home where they are loved.

Story
Meet Cleo! Cleo "Cleopatra" is a beautiful cat with big green eyes who is shy but affectionate when she warms up to anyone. She has a little cut on her right tip of her ear from when she was living in the streets. Her favorite spot to be scratched is her chin. Cleo is both shy and curious about her surroundings. But once she feels safe and comfortable she makes herself home and lays around. Cleo was found in a parking lot and after few head scratches she instantly felt comfortable to be around me where she could be pick up. The vet put her over the age of 1 years old. Cleo is such a smart and loving that she deserves the best instead of being in the streets. DOB: 03/01/2022 ************************************** Our adoption fees are $125 for one, $200 for 2, and cover the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots, microchip, combo test, deworming, and collar and ID tag. We require our adopters are 21 years old or older, keep the cat inside only (unless on a leash/harness or in a catio), and do not declaw./
