Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Stevie is a sweet 6 year old female spayed cat, looking for a calm home. Here’s what her foster volunteer says about her: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Stevie is an incredibly soft, gentle cat with a very sweet and shy personality. She is quiet and calm by nature and prefers a peaceful environment. While she may take time to feel comfortable, once she settles in she is affectionate and enjoys being near her person. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, Stevie really enjoys being pet and finds it very comforting. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? She especially likes being pet on her head and along her back. Gentle, slow pets are her favorite. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She does not like her belly being brushed or touched and can become uncomfortable if that area is handled. Does the cat come on your lap? No, Stevie does not sit on laps. She prefers to stay close without being directly on top of people. Does the cat like to be held? No, she does not enjoy being held and feels safest when all four paws are on the ground. Does the cat sleep in your bed? No, she does not sleep in the bed and prefers to sleep in her own comfortable, quiet spaces. Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, Stevie does seek attention in her own gentle way. She will come over for pets when she feels comfortable and enjoys calm companionship. Does the cat like to play? No, she is not very playful and has a low energy level. What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She does not show much interest in toys or games very often but sometimes she likes to play with the stick toys with strings and ribbons on the end.  How vocal is the cat? Stevie is mildly vocal. She may meow during the day, but not very often or very loudly. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? She primarily meows softly. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? No. If no, please explain. She has a scratching post on her cat tree but does not typically use it. Does the cat always use the litter box? She uses pee pads consistently. If no, please explain. Stevie always uses her pee pads. If there are any accidents, they are usually due to debris getting caught in her long hair rather than a behavioral issue. She does have hairballs on the floor fairly regularly. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Stevie eats dry food that is left out for her to snack on throughout the day and is refilled nightly. Is the cat picky about food? She is not picky and eats her regular food well. What is the cat's favorite treat? She sometimes enjoys Churus as well as wet food or cat soup as an occasional treat. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No, she has never swatted. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Stevie is extremely fearful of new people. She is most comfortable when the home is quiet and it is just her and her caregiver present. When others are around, she prefers to keep to herself and should have a quiet, safe space to retreat to. If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? She has not been observed with other animals, so her compatibility with pets is unknown. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Stevie is incredibly cute, gentle, and sweet. Once she becomes comfortable, she is a wonderful presence to have around and makes a calm, soothing companion. She would be perfect for someone who appreciates a quiet, affectionate cat. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Stevie’s biggest challenge is her fear of new people and loud noises, so she needs a quiet, calm home. She also has long fur that is prone to matting and does not like being brushed.   To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  March 7, 2026, 9:02 am

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Gamma (male tabby with stripes), Rho (male tabby with swirls), Sigma (female, black with green collar), Tau (female, black no collar) and Zeta (male, black and white) are kitten littermates born approximately 12/20/2025. They either need to go home with a sibling or have another energetic pet in the home. Here's what their foster volunteers say about them:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Gamma: Very friendly little guy who loves pets and lots of attention. Has a BIG purr and isn't afraid to use it to earn him more pets!   Rho: Very sweet, loves attention too (just not quite as much as Gamma) and gives the most adorable gazing look of love to us. Likes to bop noses with us. Enjoys a lot of playtime. Sigma: Can be a bit timid at first but is a complete snugglebug once she knows you. She just melts in your lap with purrs. Loves to play too! Tau: She’s a hot ticket! The most independent of the bunch, Tau likes to set the pace of interactions with humans. She loves a belly rub but also has a signature “hiss” when you approach her unexpectedly which is sooooo cute!   Zeta: Also very sweet but quite goofy. Likes attention, but prefers to be next to you than on your lap. Strikes the most ridiculous poses. Loves a belly rub. Does the cat enjoy being pet? YES, all five love to be pet. Gamma is so in love with petting he'll climb on his siblings when you're petting them to get pet himself.   If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Everywhere. All enjoy a belly rub – Tau the most so, and Sigma the least. We've made a lot of effort to rub their paws so that they're used to having them touched.  Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Nope!   Does the cat come on your lap? Yes, all five will climb on our laps when we're sat on the floor. Rho and Gamma will climb all over us, including our shoulders. Zeta likes to be next to us on the floor more, but will come on our laps still for attention. Sigma settles in for the cutest snuggles, and Tau likes to climb over our legs pouncing on her siblings’ tails.   Does the cat like to be held? The boys do, especially Rho and Gamma. Sigma and Tau can be easily held when close to the ground, but aren’t so sure if you’re standing up.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? They have not been given the opportunity to do so, as they stay in the kitten room. But I bet they'd like to do so if given half the chance!   Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, yes and more yes! Gamma in particular is quite attention loving, but all five enjoy attention. Does the cat like to play? Yes! What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Spring toys are a big favorite, as is romping with each other. They enjoy chasing a wand toy, particularly Rho who gets good air to his jumps. Zeta is coming along with the jumps as well. How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? They meow at wet food time (fed twice daily). Otherwise, Gamma and Zeta have loud purrs, Rho and Sigma have a softer purr. Tau does not audibly purr. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Not yet that we've noticed, but they aren't bad about scratching the furniture either. Since they’re still so little, they sometimes use their claws to jump up into the chair, but not like you would use a scratcher. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, never had any accidents. A funny fact is that Rho likes to use the bathroom promptly after every meal. They are all very good at covering up in the litter box. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Free feeding dry food (Purina kitten) and twice-daily wet food (Fancy Feast kitten pate). Is the cat picky about food? Not at all - they are very good eaters. What is the cat's favorite treat? Churu! Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Tau likes to bat at our extended fingers, which is very cute. But none of them swat in an aggressive way. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Only unintentionally when climbing on us and because they have sharp kitten claws.  Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Zeta and Tau can be a bit play-nippy, but we’re trying to train them out of this by redirecting to a toy. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? We're working with them on this. We’ve only had a couple of visitors so far, and they are getting better at coming out, especially Rho who is the new-person ambassador of the group. Gamma and Sigma have been held by new people, while Tau and Zeta hold back more. We have more visitors planned in the coming weeks and are also working on getting them used to hearing voices over the phone.   If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? They've met one of our resident cats and that went great. They rubbed noses with him. Zeta was particularly curious about our adult cat. Does the cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?   Tau: Loves to pounce on other kittens' tails. It's really cute!   Rho: Seems really obsessed with human faces. Wants to give nose bobs/face rubs and stares adoringly at us.   Zeta: Sometimes falls off our laps because he has no sense of his personal space and strikes the silliest of poses. Sigma: Has the cutest half asleep eyes when she’s snuggling in with us. Gamma: Likes to supervise the preparation of breakfast and dinner. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?   They are a great group of sweet kittens. They've been remarkably tidy and are very loving/sweet kittens. It’s been so special watching them discover toys and learn to play, and discover how much they enjoy petting! What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?   They came to us from outside, where they were living under someone's house in snowy conditions. We've focused on socializing them - the tabbies set the pace, Zeta trotted right along, and now the girls have found the joy of cuddles. Showing them love, affection and giving churu really helped to bring them out of their shells.   To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  March 7, 2026, 12:45 pm

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Patchouli is social a 10 year old senior male cat who has diabetes. Here’s what his foster volunteer says about him: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Patchouli is a gentle, affectionate cat who loves attention, food, and pets. He loves to show you that he is happy with his vibrating tail! He has a huge sense of curiosity enjoys spending time wherever the humans are. Although he is diabetic, it doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest. He happily chases green worm toys and catnip mouse, begs for freeze-dried fish, and greets you at the door every day when you come home.  Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, Patchouli LOVES being petted. He’s often the first to come over asking chirping asking for pets and attention, and if you hold out your hand, he’ll walk right up, rub his head against it for pets, and vibrate his tail. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? He likes being pet around his head the most, including the top of his head, chin and cheeks. He also loves being brushed, and will run over to you for brush time when he hears the click click noise of the brush! He fully leans into the brush and purrs the entire time, which is really cute. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? He doesn’t particularly like to be touched on his stomach, his paws, and his tail, which is pretty typical for a cat. However, he won't mind those areas too much when he is being brushed! Does the cat come on your lap? I’ve only seen him climb onto my lap as a way to get to other places, but I’ve tried holding him on my lap before. He’ll tolerate it for a short moment and then jump off. Does the cat like to be held? Patchouli doesn’t enjoy being held for too long. He will let me hold him for long enough for me to move him around, but he will start struggling after about 10 seconds. Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes. Patchouli comes to sleep in my bed every single night. He likes to stay wherever his humans are. He’ll nap in the living room when I’m there, and will follow me to bed to sleep through the night. He will also sometimes allow me to touch his belly and toes during this time! Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, Patchouli often seeks out my attention. He’s such a sweet boy who loves people and affection. When I come home, he’ll wake up from his nap and greet me at the door, chirping hello and asking for attention. Throughout the day, he’ll come over and meow for treats, playtime, or pets. He is also very curious of the activities you are engaged in, and will often meow to ask to sniff various objects you are holding. You can tell what his mood is quite easily, as his tail gives away everything. Does the cat like to play?  What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Patchouli is a happy and active cat, and loves playtime. He enjoys chasing catnip mouse toys, kicking his catnip-scented stuffed banana, and hunting the little green worms on a wand toy. When he wants to play, he’ll come over and meow for attention, then walk to his toys and start dragging the wand around to let you know it’s playtime. How vocal is the cat? Patchouli is a pretty vocal cat, and he uses vocalization to express a lot of his mood and needs. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? He mostly makes cute chirps when he is greeting me, and meows when he is anticipating food. I have never heard of any aggressive sounds from him. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes, Patchouli loves to scratch the scratcher that is built into the cat tower that I have. He also sometimes scratches fabric furniture. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes. Patchouli always uses the litter box. The only time he made a mistake on the floor was on his first day adjusting at my home. After learning where his litter box is, he has never made a mistake since. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Patchouli currently eats 1.5 cans of 3-oz diabetic wet food (Royal Canin Glycobalance) per meal, with breakfast and dinner at 9 AM and 9 PM alongside his insulin shots. As a snack, he gets about 25 g of Royal Canin Glycobalance dry food, and he also gets a few pieces of freeze-dried chicken or salmon as treats. Is the cat picky about food? I’ve found that Patchouli isn’t particularly too picky about food. He enjoys his current wet food (Royal Canin Glycobalance), as well as other diabetic-friendly brands like Tiki Cat and Wellness. What is the cat's favorite treat? Patchouli absolutely adores his freeze-dried salmon/chicken treats, as well as an occasional Churu as a “high-value” treat. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Never. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Never Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Patchouli is very food motivated and will sometimes nip your hand/arm when he is frustrated that he is not getting all the food/treat he is asking for. Sometimes, he gets very excited about the food that you are eating and might nip your hand to ask for the human food, which he is not allowed to have. He also may nip if he has been petted for a while and gets overstimulated. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? Patchouli’s nips may range from very gently to harder nips, but he has never drawn blood. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Patchouli is a very friendly and social cat and will happily interact with new people, beg for their attention, and rub against them to ask for pets. He will also give extra points to people who give him treats! All of my friends and family that has seen Patchouli adores him; he is very sociable cat! If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? I have not observed Patchouli with other animals, but in a previous home he did well with most other cats. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Patchouli is always eager to give affection. Whenever he sees a hand reaching toward him, calling him, he never fails to come over and rub against it. He’s also a very curious cat. He loves to follow you around the house and investigate whatever you’re doing. It’s the cutest thing when he tilts his head to the side and watches you closely, trying to figure out what you’re up to. Thanks to his curious nature, he picks up on associations pretty quickly, and learns that doing one thing will lead to another. He also adores brush time! When I hold up the brush, he meows and comes over, and rubs his head all over the brush. His tail vibrates when he is being brushed, which is super cute. Patchouli is also very intelligent, and he has learnt his name during the time he is staying with me. When he is not lazying around, he respond to being called "Patchouli!" and will come running over to rub his head on my hand. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? If you’re looking to adopt a mature, energetic, and affectionate gentle cat who loves to observe whatever you’re doing and is always eager to spend quality time with you, Patchouli is the perfect match! What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? The only challenge Patchouli has is managing his diabetes. He currently receives 3 units of insulin twice a day, about 15 minutes after his meals at around 9 AM and 9 PM. Fortunately, giving him insulin is extremely easy, and he is also very understanding of blood glucose testing times. Patchouli is very cooperative with his shots and clearly understands they come after his mealtime. He stays completely still while I administer them and never protests or flinches.   To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  March 7, 2026, 9:02 am

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Panther is a two year old male cat, neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He came to us from a house with lots of cats, but is flourishing in a foster home as the only cat, lapping up the love and attention! Here’s what his foster volunteers say about him:   How would you describe the cats general personality? Panther is playful, quirky, friendly, cuddly & cute as a button!  Does the cat enjoy being pet? YES!  If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Everywhere he tolerates stomach pets but that quickly turns into him thinking it’s play time. He loves being pet on top of the head and under the chin & all down the back and tail   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Not really Does the cat come on your lap? Yes Does the cat like to be held? He tolerates it but doesn’t love it he will squirm after a few seconds.  Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes for a few hours and then leaves to go find his spot on the couch  Does the cat seek your attention? At all hours of the day and night yes!  Does the cat like to play? When he’s in the mood yes  What are the cat's favorite games and toys? He likes the independent play toys where he can go and touch a toy to turn on when he wants to play he also loves playing with the feather on a stick toy  How vocal is the cat? Extremely chatty. I’ve actually never heard a cat meow as often and loud as he does, but you can’t hear him outside of the apartment. He makes it known when he needs something whether it’s attention, food, pets, play time etc.  What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Panther Meows but he has all different kinds of meows he makes, some are elongated some are quiet and some are very loud and consistent. He does not purr  Does the cat scratch a scratcher? He does. He has one that’s on the floor like a bed and a standing tall tree he uses both of them frequently.  Does the cat always use the litter box? He does! At first it was a big issue getting him to pee in the litter box but since his surgery he’s been using it more regularly with only a few accidents here and there.  What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Panther has to be on a specific urinary food for the rest of his life. It is called (hills prescription urinary care wet food) this food can be ordered on chewy.    Is the cat picky about food? Not really but he prefers the wet food over dry food. He really enjoys his prescription food which is a wet food.  What is the cat's favorite treat? Churu & dry temptation treats  Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No  Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No  Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Yes but it’s very light and it’s more of a “I love you” nibble while you’re in the middle of petting. Or if he wants you to pet him he will “bite” (so softly) and bring your hand to where he wants to be pet.  Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? He LOVES new people we’ve had multiple people in our apartment with him at different times and he did so well and usually will end up cuddled in their lap by the end of the visits!  If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? For a moment in time we had Panther’s brother with us but they were not doing well together, fighting a lot, hissing, biting each-other it was not a great situation for them. There were also a lot of other factors going on since Panther was sick at this time so I am not sure about how he would do with another cat or animal at this time.  Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Panther is addicted to being pet he will sit on your lap for hours on end if you keep petting him. He also drools and does a somersault when you pet him just right! If he wants some attention he will come up to you and head-butt your hands to let you know it’s time to drop when you’re doing and focus on him!  In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Panther’s oozing with love and companionship. It is clear he was not receiving the kind of love and attention he so desperately craved when he arrived at our home. He is the true definition of give love, get love. Everyday we have him is the best day ever and I just know where ever he does go he will change that persons life for the better, as he’s done for us.  What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?  When we received Panther he was diagnosed with a condition called FLUTD which is a Urinary disease that affects the urinary tract & bladder causing blood in his urine & a lot of pain. Because of that diagnosis Panther had to have a permanent surgery to help save his life or else he would have lived a life of hospital visits, misery and a whole lot of pain! Because of that situation our only challenges were getting him to pee in the litter box &  figuring out what was going on with him. Now he’s had his surgery and recovered well, we’ve had no challenges at all.    To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  March 7, 2026, 9:02 am

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Quincy is a handsome 6 year old neutered male cat, up to date on vaccinations. Here’s what his foster volunteer says about him:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? After getting to know you in the first few days, he is extremely relaxed while simultaneously being very inquisitive and playful. He mostly sleeps during the day, coming out a few times to play or eat. He likes to sleep in dark rooms if there is a comfy place, but will sleep in the open if there is no bed in a dark corner for him. His inquisitive nature means he will try to get into any nook and cranny that he can – on top of cabinets and tall furniture. If he can find a way to get there, he will. Does the cat enjoy being pet? He does, but at the beginning you will need to wait for him to ask to be pet. And when he does, he can also decide rather abruptly that he doesn’t want to be pet and will bite or swat, so it is best to be aware of his behaviors while you are touching him. As he gets more used to you and you to him, he will relax more and the only time you really need to be cautious is when he’s stimulated/playing. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Chin, behind the ears, and down his back. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? He does not like being pet on his belly or focused attention on the spot where his back meets his tail. Does the cat come on your lap? Yes! Does the cat like to be held? When he is first getting to know you, he doesn’t want to be held, but as he gets more comfortable around you, you could pick him up and hold him so that he is perched over your shoulder His surrenders mentioned they could pick him up, but that it might take a bit longer before his new owners are able to do so. Additionally, when you start picking him up, you need to do so with confidence and don’t hesitate because he will pick up on it and try to keep you from picking him up. But once he’s perched over your shoulder, he doesn’t mind it. Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes! He will sleep right next to you or around your feet/legs, often in the crook of your knees or between your legs. If you sleep next to a body pillow, he might also place himself between you and the pillow. When he sleeps in the bed with you, he will make it his mission to make sure he is touching you or on you. Does the cat seek your attention? Yes! Particularly when he wants to play or when you wake up in the morning, he may want some scratches. If he’s lounging in his bed and you call for him, he’ll also sometimes come. Does the cat like to play? Very much! What are the cat's favorite games and toys? He likes wand toys, mouse toys, and catnip pouches. He also likes interactive ball toys. How vocal is the cat? He will talk to you, but he isn’t overly chatty. He mostly talks when he wants to play or wants food. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Upon first introduction into a new environment without people he knows, he will growl, hiss, and maybe yowl at night. After he trusts you, he will make mostly short meows – not quite chirping, but similar. He purrs, but you can hardly hear it. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes – he will also scratch any rough fabric surface he can get a grip on, so be sure to have enough scratchers. If no, please explain. Does the cat always use the litter box? So far, yes. His surrenders mentioned that his box should be cleaned everyday or he might decide its too dirty and go on the floor, but so far he has only used his litterbox while being fostered. If no, please explain. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Half a can of Purina ProPlan chicken (the shredded version, not pate) in the morning, and half at night. Maybe about 2 handfuls of dry food to snack on during the day, and at at night. A few pieces of Hill’s prescription dental cat food are included with the dry food once a day. Is the cat picky about food? According to his surrenders, he prefers chicken flavored food and does not like wet pate. What is the cat's favorite treat? He loves the squeeze treats (including fish flavored varieties), and dry treats, too. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes. When he first moves into a new space without someone he knows, he will be very scared and one of the ways this manifests is by hissing, swatting, and growling. To avoid swatting, it is best to give him a lot of space to be in, and when y’all cross paths, let him pass first before continuing on. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Yes – the first day he moved in and not since. This was his response to being very scared at being in a new environment without anyone he knows. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Yes, he will do little nips if you let him smell you and he decides he doesn’t want to be pet. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? Yes. When he gets stimulated, either while playing – or from petting – he will rather abruptly turn and bite. They are hard bites, so they break skin, but he doesn’t bite for longer than about 2 seconds. If you give him a firm no, without freaking out or pulling away, he should let go. Its best to be hyper aware of him when you are engaging in any way with your hands, even when he is rubbing his face all over yours. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? If there is someone he trusts/knows, he is social – he will come out and say hi and he might even sit on their lap. The same awareness to petting should be imparted to guests. If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? I have not observed his interactions with other animals, but according to his surrenders he did have a feline sibling at some point and he has not reacted with hostility to the smells of other cats. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? He loves rolling around on carpeted surfaces, will rub his face in your hair whenever he’s sitting behind you, and will make biscuits when relaxed. He also boot scoots after using the litterbox frequently, but not every time. Sometimes, when he gets zoomies, he likes to almost be chased. When he gets like this, I’ll just move a little quickly towards him. He’ll either stay and accept head scritches, or he’ll run to a new spot and wait for you to chase again. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? After first getting to know you, he is an EXTREMELY sweet cat that just has some touch sensitivities when he’s stimulated. It will seem like he hates you at first – you just need to be patient and wait until he asks you for pets. If you want a cat that will spread out across your torso when relaxing on the couch or a warm furry friend next to you in bed, he will be all of those things. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? The biggest challenge is his biting and the only way to manage that is to stay aware and to constantly be reading his body language when you are petting him in any way. Other than that, if you have plants he will want to eat them and he is very determined to get to them so you’ll have to be creative to keep him from getting to them. I’ve found the best way to do this is to put it up really high and to block off any access by creating height or the illusion of height to keep him from jumping up to it.    To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  March 7, 2026, 9:02 am

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Midnight is a sweet, playful, and affectionate 5-year-old cat who has been through an incredible journey of resilience. After surviving a dog attack that left her with nerve damage and incontinence, she has adapted beautifully with the love and care of her foster family. Her tail had to be amputated, and she now wears a diaper that is changed several times a day, along with a few diaper-free breaks. While she does need some extra care, her condition is manageable (Midnight has learned to thrive in her routine) and she's ready to bring her joy and companionship into a forever home. What makes Midnight so special is her wonderful personality. She is a friendly and social cat who bonds quickly with people—even on the first day she met her foster family, she jumped into their laps and gave kisses. She loves being petted on her cheeks, head, and belly, and happily curls up in laps many times a day. Though she isn’t fond of being held, she adores closeness and even tries to sleep in bed with her humans. Midnight is also very playful and clever; she loves toys, especially chasing and gathering them all together, and she makes her needs known with a soft, sweet voice. Her silly “supergirl” sleeping pose—stretching her legs straight behind her—never fails to make her foster family laugh. Midnight isn’t just loving with people—she even enjoys the company of dogs and gets along well with other pets, making her a great fit for an animal-loving household. She’s a little picky with food, preferring salmon and pate flavors, and she absolutely can’t resist Churu treats. While her incontinence means she doesn’t use the litter box, she has adjusted beautifully to wearing diapers and continues to be gentle, affectionate, and easy to love. Midnight truly has the heart of a survivor and the spirit of a best friend. She is affectionate, loyal, and fun, with endless love to share. All she needs is a family who is willing to look past her challenges and see the amazing, one-of-a-kind companion she is. By opening your heart and home to Midnight, you won’t just be adopting a cat—you’ll be giving a brave and wonderful soul the happy ending she deserves.
