Her tail had to be amputated, and she was sent to Black Cat Rescue to heal. Despite the hardships she has faced, Midnight has shown remarkable resilience and strength. With the care and support of her foster human, she has made incredible progress. Her incontinence is now manageable with the help of a diaper, and she has adapted to her new circumstances with grace and determination. Midnight is now ready for her next chapter, a loving home where she can receive the care and attention she deserves. She is a sweet and affectionate cat, with a playful spirit that shines bright. She even still likes dogs!! All she needs is a chance to show you the love and joy she has to offer. Please consider opening your heart and home to Midnight. She has so much love to give and is ready to become a cherished member of your family. Together, we can give Midnight the happy ending she deserves. Here's what her foster human has to say about Midnight: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Midnight is very outgoing and active.  She thinks the world is her oyster.  She doesn't hide, even when first entering a space (including the NBC studios). Does the cat enjoy being pet? If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?   Midnight loves being petted.  She often stretches up and puts her legs on my knees when I'm sitting so I can rub her head and ears.     Also, if I rub her backside briskly, just above her tail, she will pee or poop if she has something  ready to go.  Recently, she's been volunteering to stand in the catbox for this, which is really helpful. . Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?   Don't pet her backside above the tail if you don't want her to pee or poop.  Also, she is such an active cat that she sometimes won't stand still long enough to be petted, but we still get lots of pets in.   Does the cat come on your lap?     Does the cat like to be held? She wants to come up on my lap and she doesn't mind being held, but we are limited by the fact that she may pee or poop on me.  Sometimes I put a cloth on my lap so we can cuddle.  She also likes to climb up on my shoulders when I'm sitting in the kitchen.   Does the cat sleep in your bed?   I'll bet she would if I could let her. Does the cat seek your attention? Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Midnight absolutely loves attention, either from people or other pets and is always up for playing.  She loves her pole toy and anything that she can bat around on the floor.  She also likes batting at Arvid the dog (who doesn't seem to mind). How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make?   Midnight isn't a big talker and doesn't cry to get through doors, etc. but she has a very cute little meow when she wants to tell me something. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? If no, please explain   Yes, Midnight likes both her cardboard scratcher and to get a long scratch in anytime that she can get to the flat-weave rugs (when she escapes into the livingroom). . Does the cat always use the litter box? If no, please explain. Midnight likes the catbox and will go in and 'pretend' to poop, then scratch around in the litter.  She does occasionally get a poop in the box but as often as not her poops will end up elsewhere.  She doesn't seem to be able to push them out voluntarily without help.     That being said, as I mentioned before, she will poop and pee if I rub her tail end and she is starting to volunteer to do that.  I'm guessing that she is more comfortable with the poops out and appreciates the help.  This is a change from a few months ago when she often wouldn't stand still to have me rub her tail end and make her poop.     I've been making sure she has plenty of time to run around and get exercise on the theory that that will help her to strengthen her back end and perhaps help with the poop coordination.  (She does a lot of running and jumping around now that we've figured out how to poop-proof larger areas of the house. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Is the cat picky about food?   I've been feeding Midnight Royal Canin dental food (Dr. Leavey recommended that for another cat to keep weight in line).  I feed about 3/4 cups per day - sometimes I put out more and she seems to self-regulate her intake. What is the cat's favorite treat? Pretty much anything - I give her freeze-dried salmon or any dry cat treats that we have on hand.  She also likes the pate treats. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?   Midnight likes to play and will swat at me and Arvid for fun.     Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?   Midnight rarely scratches but has clawed me when she is very anxious (at the cat event) or when I tried to get her into a diaper when she had already told me no.  That said, she doesn't scratch me or complain even when I have to put her back into her part of the house after an escape to the livingroom. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, she hasn't nipped or bitten me. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?   Midnight is super friendly with anyone who comes to visit and was either friendly or tolerant with everybody on her outings, except when she'd really had enough at the Boston cat event.  She loves playing with my dog and me and tried to befriend Hugo, my friend's cat who came to stay with us (in his own segregated part of the house)   I think Midnight would love living in a home with other pets, especially if she doesn't recover the ability to reliably use the catbox and so can't sit on laps or sleep with people. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?   As mentioned, Midnight is about the most outgoing, social cat I've ever met.  Also, she is really soft and super plush which isn't really a trait, but makes her very pretty and really enjoyable to pet. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?   If Midnight could use the catbox reliably, she would be just about perfect.  Only people who don't want a cat who is super friendly and interactive should steer away.   Just a guess, but she might be quite dominant in a multi-cat household - she is not at all shy around other cats. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?   Her challenge is just the obvious one.  We have to cover everything with cloths and pads to manage her pee/poop.     I still hope that she will recover her catbox skills, but she might not.  Things have definitely gotten easier over time, but that is partly because I'm getting better at Midnight-proofing the areas she has access to.  That said, she is offering a glimmer of hope so, fingers crossed! We try to respond to all inquiries but due to the number of responses we get, we may not be able to respond to messages submitted through this site.  If a profile is submitted through the link above, we guarantee a response and availability updates regarding the cat of interest.   Hi, I'm Allana. Despite being blind, I navigate my world with a keen sense of curiosity. I'm quite clever, you see, and I’ve learned to use my other senses to compensate. I'm also very gentle and sweet. I love to cuddle and purr to the rhythm of your heartbeat. I promise to fill your life with warmth, laughter, and endless games of hide and seek. Adopt me, and let's discover the world together, one touch at a time. All about Allana from her foster home! How would you describe the cat's general personality? Allana is a sweetheart! She is slightly shy to new people but warms up pretty immediately! She is more on the cautious and calm side but very kind.  Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, Allana is very affectionate! She will come and rub herself against your legs asking to be paid attention to.  If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Allana loves to be pet on her body. She loves her bum pet and she will roll on the ground with happiness. Over time, she will also let you pet her stomach! Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Allana seems to get more spooked if you pet closer to her face. Does the cat come on your lap? She usually will like to be near you but not sit directly on you. Does the cat like to be held? Allana does not like to be held very much. Does the cat sleep in your bed? Allana will join in a corner of the bed and when she is more comfortable, will cuddle at your feet or legs in bed! Does the cat seek your attention? Yes! She loves attention and will specifically meow and run up to you for pets! She is very patient though, so she likes to sit meow softly until I come and pet her. Does the cat like to play? She loves to play! She will often play by herself with loose toys but does like when you play with her too! What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She likes to play with the string/rod toys where you swing them around and they try to catch the end. She also likes loose toys (toy mice, soft and crunchy balls, etc.). She does seem to prefer toys that make sound (with bells attached) since she cannot see and relies on hearing where they are. How vocal is the cat? Allana is a vocal kitty. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? With Allana, I’ve mostly only heard meows. Her meows are softer and higher pitched–so cute! Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes! She likes to stretch and file her nails on a standing tower scratcher. Does the cat always use the litter box? Allana is very good at using only the designated litter boxes. We have never had any accidents even when she first arrived and when we were away and weren't able to change the litter for a period of 48 hours. She uses both the open kind and the boxes that also have the lid covering. For the type of litter box with the lid, we removed the swinging door attachment since it seemed harder for her to use when the door was attached. She is very smart and since she cannot see, it seemed she perhaps was wary of getting stuck if the door trapped her in the box. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Sometimes when too excited from lots of petting or playing, Allana can swat gently. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No, Allana hasn’t ever scratched us. She is very gentle! Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Sometimes when she wants attention or is overstimulated, but only very gently! Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, she has never bitten hard enough to break skin. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? At the beginning when getting to know new people, Allana is a bit more shy and cautious. She does, however, adapt fast to new people and environments and within the time of a few days can adapt well to new people and places. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Allana really seems to know her name well and if you say clearly, “Hi, Allana!” She will meow and come closer to signal she wants attention and to be pet. Her tail will also shake and vibrate with excitement the moment I am home and petting her. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? She has been through quite a lot and is still so brave and resilient! Seeing the way she learns and adapts despite not being able to see the world around her visually is just amazing. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Since Allana is completely blind, when she gets more confident and comfortable in their environment, she has a tendency to accidentally bump into walls/shelves more (but surprisingly doesn't seem to ever knock anything over). We try to respond to all inquiries but due to the number of responses we get, we may not be able to respond to messages submitted through this site.  If a profile is submitted through the link above, we guarantee a response and availability updates regarding the cat of interest.   All about Martini from her foster home!   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Martini  is a sweet old lady who loves sleeping and getting pet. She is very relaxed. She is really affectionate and people-oriented, but super chill at the same time -- she comes to check on me from time to time, and she likes to cuddle up at night, but otherwise she is happy to nap the day away. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes! If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? She loves getting scratched on the head and underneath her chin, and she loves getting brushed on her cheeks Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? I did not discover any particular spots, but she can sometimes get overstimulated. She will gently nip or hiss when she's had enough. Does the cat come on your lap? No, but she often hangs out in the same room or beside me on the couch Does the cat like to be held? No Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes! She sleeps in my bed every night Does the cat seek your attention? Yes Does the cat like to play? Not particularly -- she'll sometimes kick around a toy for a few seconds but I haven't seen any toys that hold her attention much What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She likes the small catnip fish, and she'll sometimes swat around a toy mouse How vocal is the cat? She's very vocal! What kinds of sounds does the cat make? She has a distinctive scratchy meow, like a rusty door hinge (or maybe a chain smoker?) I call it her "grandma meow". She meows at me a lot in the morning. She also sometimes meows very loudly from the other side of the house -- I will meow back at her and we can go back and forth for a while. She also has the loudest purr I've ever heard -- I can hear her halfway across the room! Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Fancy Feast chicken feast, classic pate What is the cat's favorite treat? She likes Temptations and canned tuna. She really likes salami too but I only give her some once in a while, it's not very healthy Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? She has once or twice, when she was playing with the catnip toy and I reached in to pet her -- she seemed to want to play with my hands Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Once or twice Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? She is generally fearful at first and will hide, but she can easily be bribed with Temptations Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? She purrs a LOT -- when she sleeps next to me she is constantly purring. She likes to sniff the ground and she will sniff and purr at the same time, so it sounds like a snorting noise.  In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? I would say her super loud purr. I think an adopter should choose  Martini  because she clearly has so much love to give -- she warmed up to me so much in just 2-3 months, and I am sure she will bond with someone wonderfully when she finds her home. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Martini  needs to take medication for her chronic constipation. It is a liquid med and the important thing is that she takes the entire dose. Giving it to her orally was difficult, but I figured out how to make her accept her food with the meds mixed in by splitting it into 2 daily doses and feeding on a regular schedule. She also should only eat wet food, preferably mixed with a bit of water. It takes a minute or two longer than usual to feed her because the food needs to be mixed each time, but it's totally manageable.    To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  Do not contact through the links on this site. Loki loves to get into mischief wherever he can, he is very curious and can even open doors! Nova is shyer but once he warms up to someone he becomes a velcro kitty. He is always on my lap or my chest when I am sitting, and he is very sweet and needy with his person. Although he is less social than Loki, he is still a well-adapted cat who likes to be around people although not until he trusts them. But once he does, you will have a sweet shadow following you everywhere. Together the boys love to curl up and cuddle! They rarely get into fights unless it is Nova making a dominance display but never anything to cause harm. They go everywhere together Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, both If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? They are both comfortable pets all over, but enjoy chins scratches Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Nova definitely loves cuddling and sitting on people Loki prefers to be near you but not usually on the lap Does the cat like to be held? The only time either of them hissed was at the vacuum but they came out of hiding right after it was put away Does the cat scratch a scratcher? No If no, please explain. Two different types of scratchers were provided but neither were used Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? They both get very happy and will lead you to a carpet where they can flop onto their side so you can pet their bellies! In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Loki is very active at night and likes to knock things off shelves. Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?   - She is well behaved, generally quiet, and will warm up to a new person with consistency and patience.  She will thrive with a routine and a gentle hand that doesn't force her too fast.  Do no expect a playful kitten, but a middle aged lady who needs some TLC.  What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? -  Mitty  does not like to be pet, and is a bit territorial.  Having a place she could call her own would probably benefit her.
