Story
Teddy — Orange Male Cat, ~2.5 years old, Boston MA Teddy is a big, talkative, deeply affectionate orange cat looking for his person. Easily cared for with dry or wet food. Good with a litter box. Has been kept indoors only. Good with children that are patient with him. Very active. He is a certified doofus. He flops. He falls. It's endearing every single time. We have had him since he was six months as a companion for our older Tabby. Unfortunately, he can be obsessively aggressive with any animals that he can bully, not bad enough to cause injury but it can be stressful to the other animals. This has built up to unhealthy stress for the other cat. He has not expressed this with adult or child humans. And I think he may get along well with a larger calm dog. He can be a shy with strangers, but some churu and gentle care and talking with him and he bonds deeply - becoming extremely cuddly and interactive. We love him a lot and think he would be great in a loving home.

Story
Gale is an active senior who likes to be around people when he is not relaxing in the sun sleeping. He is a grazing eater, self regulating mostly dry food. He loves to be combed and will come sit next to you when you are calm. He has a sister (also up for a new home) but generally they don’t interact anymore. Not sure how he would do with other pets. Best spot for Gale is a home looking for a trained, well behaved pet. He is medically up to date and can be left home alone for 2-3 days with proper water and food.

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Stevie is a sweet 6 year old female spayed cat, looking for a calm home. Here’s what her foster volunteer says about her: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Stevie is an incredibly soft, gentle cat with a very sweet and shy personality. She is quiet and calm by nature and prefers a peaceful environment. While she may take time to feel comfortable, once she settles in she is affectionate and enjoys being near her person. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, Stevie really enjoys being pet and finds it very comforting. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? She especially likes being pet on her head and along her back. Gentle, slow pets are her favorite. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She does not like her belly being brushed or touched and can become uncomfortable if that area is handled. Does the cat come on your lap? No, Stevie does not sit on laps. She prefers to stay close without being directly on top of people. Does the cat like to be held? No, she does not enjoy being held and feels safest when all four paws are on the ground. Does the cat sleep in your bed? No, she does not sleep in the bed and prefers to sleep in her own comfortable, quiet spaces. Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, Stevie does seek attention in her own gentle way. She will come over for pets when she feels comfortable and enjoys calm companionship. Does the cat like to play? No, she is not very playful and has a low energy level. What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She does not show much interest in toys or games very often but sometimes she likes to play with the stick toys with strings and ribbons on the end.  How vocal is the cat? Stevie is mildly vocal. She may meow during the day, but not very often or very loudly. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? She primarily meows softly. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? No. If no, please explain. She has a scratching post on her cat tree but does not typically use it. Does the cat always use the litter box? She uses pee pads consistently. If no, please explain. Stevie always uses her pee pads. If there are any accidents, they are usually due to debris getting caught in her long hair rather than a behavioral issue. She does have hairballs on the floor fairly regularly. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Stevie eats dry food that is left out for her to snack on throughout the day and is refilled nightly. Is the cat picky about food? She is not picky and eats her regular food well. What is the cat's favorite treat? She sometimes enjoys Churus as well as wet food or cat soup as an occasional treat. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No, she has never swatted. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Stevie is extremely fearful of new people. She is most comfortable when the home is quiet and it is just her and her caregiver present. When others are around, she prefers to keep to herself and should have a quiet, safe space to retreat to. If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? She has not been observed with other animals, so her compatibility with pets is unknown. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Stevie is incredibly cute, gentle, and sweet. Once she becomes comfortable, she is a wonderful presence to have around and makes a calm, soothing companion. She would be perfect for someone who appreciates a quiet, affectionate cat. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Stevie’s biggest challenge is her fear of new people and loud noises, so she needs a quiet, calm home. She also has long fur that is prone to matting and does not like being brushed.   To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  March 7, 2026, 9:02 am

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Gamma (male tabby with stripes), Rho (male tabby with swirls), Sigma (female, black with green collar), Tau (female, black no collar) and Zeta (male, black and white) are kitten littermates born approximately 12/20/2025. They either need to go home with a sibling or have another energetic pet in the home. Here's what their foster volunteers say about them:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Gamma: Very friendly little guy who loves pets and lots of attention. Has a BIG purr and isn't afraid to use it to earn him more pets!   Rho: Very sweet, loves attention too (just not quite as much as Gamma) and gives the most adorable gazing look of love to us. Likes to bop noses with us. Enjoys a lot of playtime. Sigma: Can be a bit timid at first but is a complete snugglebug once she knows you. She just melts in your lap with purrs. Loves to play too! Tau: She’s a hot ticket! The most independent of the bunch, Tau likes to set the pace of interactions with humans. She loves a belly rub but also has a signature “hiss” when you approach her unexpectedly which is sooooo cute!   Zeta: Also very sweet but quite goofy. Likes attention, but prefers to be next to you than on your lap. Strikes the most ridiculous poses. Loves a belly rub. Does the cat enjoy being pet? YES, all five love to be pet. Gamma is so in love with petting he'll climb on his siblings when you're petting them to get pet himself.   If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Everywhere. All enjoy a belly rub – Tau the most so, and Sigma the least. We've made a lot of effort to rub their paws so that they're used to having them touched.  Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Nope!   Does the cat come on your lap? Yes, all five will climb on our laps when we're sat on the floor. Rho and Gamma will climb all over us, including our shoulders. Zeta likes to be next to us on the floor more, but will come on our laps still for attention. Sigma settles in for the cutest snuggles, and Tau likes to climb over our legs pouncing on her siblings’ tails.   Does the cat like to be held? The boys do, especially Rho and Gamma. Sigma and Tau can be easily held when close to the ground, but aren’t so sure if you’re standing up.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? They have not been given the opportunity to do so, as they stay in the kitten room. But I bet they'd like to do so if given half the chance!   Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, yes and more yes! Gamma in particular is quite attention loving, but all five enjoy attention. Does the cat like to play? Yes! What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Spring toys are a big favorite, as is romping with each other. They enjoy chasing a wand toy, particularly Rho who gets good air to his jumps. Zeta is coming along with the jumps as well. How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? They meow at wet food time (fed twice daily). Otherwise, Gamma and Zeta have loud purrs, Rho and Sigma have a softer purr. Tau does not audibly purr. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Not yet that we've noticed, but they aren't bad about scratching the furniture either. Since they’re still so little, they sometimes use their claws to jump up into the chair, but not like you would use a scratcher. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, never had any accidents. A funny fact is that Rho likes to use the bathroom promptly after every meal. They are all very good at covering up in the litter box. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Free feeding dry food (Purina kitten) and twice-daily wet food (Fancy Feast kitten pate). Is the cat picky about food? Not at all - they are very good eaters. What is the cat's favorite treat? Churu! Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Tau likes to bat at our extended fingers, which is very cute. But none of them swat in an aggressive way. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Only unintentionally when climbing on us and because they have sharp kitten claws.  Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Zeta and Tau can be a bit play-nippy, but we’re trying to train them out of this by redirecting to a toy. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? We're working with them on this. We’ve only had a couple of visitors so far, and they are getting better at coming out, especially Rho who is the new-person ambassador of the group. Gamma and Sigma have been held by new people, while Tau and Zeta hold back more. We have more visitors planned in the coming weeks and are also working on getting them used to hearing voices over the phone.   If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? They've met one of our resident cats and that went great. They rubbed noses with him. Zeta was particularly curious about our adult cat. Does the cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?   Tau: Loves to pounce on other kittens' tails. It's really cute!   Rho: Seems really obsessed with human faces. Wants to give nose bobs/face rubs and stares adoringly at us.   Zeta: Sometimes falls off our laps because he has no sense of his personal space and strikes the silliest of poses. Sigma: Has the cutest half asleep eyes when she’s snuggling in with us. Gamma: Likes to supervise the preparation of breakfast and dinner. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?   They are a great group of sweet kittens. They've been remarkably tidy and are very loving/sweet kittens. It’s been so special watching them discover toys and learn to play, and discover how much they enjoy petting! What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?   They came to us from outside, where they were living under someone's house in snowy conditions. We've focused on socializing them - the tabbies set the pace, Zeta trotted right along, and now the girls have found the joy of cuddles. Showing them love, affection and giving churu really helped to bring them out of their shells.   To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  March 7, 2026, 12:45 pm
