Story
Aki is a great cat who is very low maintenance. He is usually relaxed and enjoys a good head and cheek rub, but can nip a little when overstimulated. We adopted Aki as a kitten 6 years ago from a barn litter up in Maine with the intent to have him be an indoor/outdoor cat. This has been great for him as he likes the outdoors and does not need to use the litter box during the spring, fall and winter. The problem that has arisen this summer is that he has become an extremely avid hunter. While this has been terrific for controlling rats and mice, he will often range into all of our nearby neighbors' yards and leave a substantial number of dead rabbits behind. We would love to keep him here but we know he would be unhappy as an indoor cat. We're looking for a home where he could happily roam outside with more room to keep from traumatizing the neighbors.

Story
She is 4 years old, very healthy and active. She is always curious about where you are and what you're doing but still wants to be left alone. She is social and gets along with strangers or acquaintances. She shows affection in her own way: she loves to sleep next to your feet at night and comes to you when you call her name. She isnt always a lap cat but if she is fed and the house is cold, she will definitely use a portion of your blanket. She is okay with kids but usually tries to avoid them. She has never scratched my toddler. She is a huge foodie and will often ask you for a bite of whatever you're eating.

Story
Harriet is a gorgeous, sweet tuxedo cat about 9 years old. Unfortunately after 2 years of trying to help her get along with my original cat, I need to find her a new home. She was surrendered to a shelter about 2 years ago and was very stressed in the shelter setting, but thrived in foster care and has been a sweetheart with me. Harriet can be a bit sensitive about physical contact (paws and mouth especially) but also loves to be pet and brushed - just on her terms! Harriet loves to play with feather toys and snooze in the sun. She would do best in a quiet home with adult, experienced adopters who will respect her space and offer her lots of calm interaction (and allow her to sleep at the foot of your bed!)

Story
Grey – Available for Adoption Grey is a sweet, funny little guy with a distinctive smudge on his face. He has taken his time to come out of his shell—almost literally! He was friendly from the start of his fostering but only from inside his little soft ‘house’. . .like a snail he practically carried his ‘house’ around from inside it! But he so loved human pets that he welcomed head scratches from inside his house. His need for a sense of security is understandable, given that the home he knew consistently for over 8 years ended suddenly on the passing of his human. He has come a long way since his days or receiving pets from inside his little house. Now Grey is a lot more comfortable with his new foster. He purrs instead of hisses when approached. When guests are over, he hides from them which is understandable - new people are scary! But when it’s just Grey and his foster mom, he’s confident to explore the apartment and sometimes shares a couch with the resident cat. He’s quite playful with his toys and runs pretty fast too! Grey is especially affectionate around mealtimes, getting up on his hind legs and rubbing against his foster. He loves being pet especially on his head! Grey’s purr’fect home would be a quiet one without a lot of comings & goings. He will likely do OK with a calm, friendly resident kitty. He prefers to be on his own, but probably won’t mind sharing a home with another kitty. Grey is approximately 9 years old, neutered and negative for FeLV and FIV. If you are interested in meeting him, contact Boston's Forgotten Felines on Facebook or at catadoptions@bostonsforgottenfelines.org

Story
Meet Buddy! This guy is quite worried here at the shelter (look at those eyes...) so we are taking it slow and letting him adjust at his pace. We aren`t sure how he will be in a home - he may blossom completely outside the shelter, or he may be what we lovingly call a `spirit cat`. We often can’t predict how a spirit cat will be after they settle in – some become comfortable around their family and choose to spend time with them by sharing the same space or allowing some petting, while others continue to prefer to hide when there’s any commotion. Spirit cats generally prefer to spend their time around other cats and make an excellent kitty friend to a cat already in the home. Our staff can help prepare adopters to welcome a spirit cat into a quiet home, but patience and understanding will go a long way with Buddy.

Story
COURTESY POST – Hannoush & Moon – Available for Adoption Hannoush and Moon are two incredibly sweet, affectionate girls looking for a calm, loving forever home together. Hannoush, a tabby/calico mama estimated to be around 2 years old, and her daughter Moon, a striking white kitty with soft blue eyes, is about a year old. These girls were surrendered through no fault of their own when their owner had to move out of state to care for an aging relative. Since then, they’ve experienced a lot of transition and uncertainty. What they need now is a permanent home where they can settle in, feel safe, and just be themselves. Both Hannoush and Moon are extremely affectionate and love attention once they’re comfortable. They enjoy cuddling, staying close to their people, and soaking up affection. Like many cats who have been through change, they may need a little time to decompress and adjust—but beneath that initial caution are two deeply loving, gentle girls who truly want connection. They would do best with adopters who understand that settling in can take patience and who are excited to give them the stability they deserve. In return, you’ll gain two loyal companions who clearly adore each other and have a whole lot of love to give to their forever owner. If you’re looking for a bonded pair with sweet personalities and a beautiful story of resilience, Hannoush and Moon may be your girls. Hannoush & Moon are a mother/daughter duo at 2 years & 1 year old. They are spayed, negative for FeLV and FIV, vaccinated and ready to find their forever home. If you are interested in meeting them, contact Boston's Forgotten Felines on Facebook or at catadoptions@bostonsforgottenfelines.org
