Story
💛 Ivy & Patch — Tiny Survivors, Bonded Siblings, Ready for Their Forever Together 💛 Ivy and Patch’s story didn’t start gently. These 3-month-old Chihuahua babies were found on a dirt road in Wapato, WA, huddled next to their mom, trying to survive the cold, dust, and uncertainty of each day. Their mama is now being adopted into a loving home — and now it’s their turn to step into the soft life they’ve never known… but absolutely deserve. Ivy (female) and Patch (male) are a bonded pair, not just by birth but by everything they’ve had to endure together. They learned to rely on each other, comfort each other, and play their way through the hard moments. Separating them now would break a connection that has carried them through their hardest beginning. Despite everything, they are pure joy: ✨ Active, silly, full of puppy light ✨ Eating like they’re making up for lost time ✨ Running and wrestling until they crash into deep, adorable puppy sleep ✨ Waking up at sunrise ready to love life all over again They’re completing their health protocols and will soon be ready for a home that matches their hearts: 🏡 A fully fenced yard for safe adventures 🤍 A home where they stay together — always 🐾 Preferably no other dogs — they love soaking up all the love 💫 Someone ready for two brave little souls with boundless energy and even bigger hearts If you feel called to give Ivy & Patch the gentle, stable, joyful chapter they’ve been waiting for, please send in an adoption application. They’ve already survived the hardest part of their story — now they just need someone to love them for the rest of it. 💛

Story
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. To see more pictures and some videos of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. 9-year-old female Chiweenie, about 15 pounds. Cherokee is a sweet yet shy girl. She gets very attached to her person and likes to follow around, sleep and cuddle with them. She has a very Doxie personality; smart, opinionated, LOVES to eat and sometimes be vocal. She does not like to share her house with other dogs regardless of temperament, so she needs to be an only dog OR with a human that is very dog pack savvy. She is long and low, with the typical Doxie body, so all the normal Doxie long back protection steps should be taken. Not too fat, ramps, steps and such to prevent her from jumping down from high places. She grows crazy long toenails too, so be prepared to clip and snip regularly! She lets you know when she has to go outside. If you like a dog that likes to get dressed up, she's your gal! Bring on the dresses and sweaters! She does not necessarily need a fenced yard but would love to go for walks and probably no kids under 10. To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. Story
To see more pictures and some videos of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. Meet Gravis 💛 Gravis is a 2-year-old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) weighing about 15 pounds — the perfect compact companion with a huge heart. In December, six dogs were heartbreakingly abandoned in a cemetery. Only four were found alive — Tombey, Lillith, Wednesday, and sweet Gravis — and thankfully they made their way to safety. Gravis hasn’t let his rough start dim his joyful spirit one bit. Gravis is an adorable blend of playful puppy energy and devoted lap dog. He’s happiest when he’s: Wrestling with another playful pup Tossing around (and proudly de-stuffing!) his beloved toys Going for walks or zooming around the yard Sunbathing like a tiny king Snoozing peacefully in your lap at the end of the day He still has some charming puppy habits — like “helping” with gardening by digging small holes, collecting socks for safekeeping in his bed, and bravely alerting you to suspicious birds. On the bright side, he’s an excellent kitchen floor cleaner (no crumb left behind), a loyal bathroom security guard, and a dedicated playmate who will happily tire himself — and his doggy sibling — out. Gravis bonds especially closely with the woman in the home and may be timid around men at first. He does not have a mean bone in his body. He is potty trained, incredibly sweet, and keeps us laughing every single day. His ideal home would include: Another playful dog to wrestle and romp with A secure yard to run and explore Children age 8 or older (he gets nervous around younger kids) A patient family who will let his confidence continue to grow He gets along well with most dogs and does fine with cats. Gravis is ready for his forever home — one filled with playtime, sunshine, and plenty of cozy lap naps. To request an adoption application, please email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com Could Gravis be the joyful little shadow you’ve been waiting for? 🐾 Adoption contract and fee applies.
Meet Brewster ☕🐾 7 years old | Male Chihuahua/Min Pin mix (?) | 14 pounds Brewster is a distinguished little gentleman who truly appreciates the finer things in life — namely warmth, comfort, and a well-placed blanket. If there’s a cozy throw nearby, chances are Brewster has already burrito’d himself inside it. Bonus points for cute sweaters. He’s mostly a low-key companion, perfectly content to nap on the couch (with blankets, of course) or curl up in your lap. But every so often, his silly side shines through — rolling around in his favorite blanket stash and prancing delicately on his toes like he’s in his own little parade. Brewster’s personality highlights: • Gentle and lovely to have around • Occasionally bouncy and playful • Polite but clear about his boundaries • Curious and snack-motivated He’ll play with other dogs sometimes, but he’s not always in the mood. If a dog gets too pushy, he’ll offer a quick correction growl and move along — no drama. He could do well as an only dog or in a home with polite canine companions. House manners: ✔ Sleeps quietly in his crate once settled ✔ Appears potty trained (a couple minor mishaps, mostly cold-weather related or in new environments) ✔ Walks nicely on leash without excessive pulling ✔ Polite and curious meeting other dogs on walks He enjoys his walks and loves sniffing and marking interesting shrubbery — though he can be a bit of a wet-weather diva and may need encouragement to brave the elements. (He’s VERY excited to rush back inside and bundle up afterward.) A few quirks to love: • He prances daintily on his toes • When he shakes off, the ripple travels dramatically down his body to a wiggly tail finale • He can get chirpy when food time is near • May whine briefly in his crate or when feeling uncertain Brewster can be a bit vocal when left home alone, so apartments or condos may not be the best fit. He also gets somewhat anxious on car rides and may whimper when unsure about his surroundings — but he’s making good progress with reassurance and practice. He doesn’t care much for toys but will absolutely follow his nose toward tasty-smelling snacks — so keep those secured! He’s generally comfortable meeting new people, though he may shy away if approached too quickly. We haven’t seen him with many children, but gentle, respectful kids would likely be fine. Cats are unknown. Brewster is a cozy, quirky, blanket-loving companion who will bring warmth, personality, and quiet devotion to the right home. Story
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 2-year-old male Chihuahua mix, about 20 pounds. Jimbo was found stray in the city of Tieton and taken in by the Public Works department. They do not have animal control, so they reached out to us for help. Jimbo is shy but quite friendly, playful and interactive when he gets to know you. He is more of a people dog than a dog's dog and will get very attached to "his" person very quickly. That sometimes manifests itself as resource guarding which makes it difficult for him to share. He would do best in an adult only home, as an only dog or with a very dog pack savvy human with indifferent dog pack members. Because he likes to run, a fenced yard would be ideal!
