Story
Woody is a very sweet, very loving senior dog with a lot of life left in him. While he does not enjoy being pet, he loves to snuggle and be close to his person at all times. Despite having chronic pain, he still enjoys walks and adventures. He is mostly indifferent to other animals as long as they give him space, but will defend his territory if needed and can therefore not live with persistent or reactive animals. For 15 years, Woody was in a bonded pair with his sibling, who passed in November 2024. Since then, he has needed a full-time human companion. I have been unable to work outside the home because of this and can no longer provide for my own basic needs while also caring for him. He gets extremely stressed with left alone and struggles increasingly with incontinence. He has a heart condition and takes multiple medications daily. I love him deeply and hope to find someone who can enjoy his companionship in the time he has remaining.

Story
Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around the US and Canada, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase Quick Pay via Zelle, PayPal, or cash. Poor innocent, sweet & forgotten about Gapy, was ready to be euthanized in a death camp of a scary shelter in CA. He had zero public interest & zero rescue interest on social media. An email went out for help & this beautiful boy was on that list. Yes, it appears at the age of 3 he was going to die which is absolutely unacceptable. We rescued this beautiful boy & 2 other sweet baby dolls out of that same kill shelter from that very same kill list all at once. That day was 1 very sad & joyous day all at the same time. Gapy who is now looking for his very own forever home who will never give up on him again & love him just as his foster mum & we do. After we got Gapy all his care with his amazing foster mum he will be bought back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find his loving forever home. We truly believe that Gapy was originally someone’s dog & they just did not want him anymore from his mannerisms & his behavior of knowing certain things. All this boy wants is to be loved & have a home to call his own. Disturbing to think no one wanted him & he was ready to die. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. When we got him out of the shelter his nails were so extremely long & his nails were clipped by our vets but will need to be & regularly dremeled to get them to a good place. Gapy at times can have a big personality & knows what he wants. He isn’t the biggest cuddler but enjoys being patted & being loved. He is a independent little man. That being said, Gapy is a good eater, he loves to eat & he is making up for lost time & put on weight instantly in his foster home. Gapy’s new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard. He also enjoys sunning himself in the backyard & also sitting on the couch & looking out the window, he really enjoys taking in the sites. But he will also do his own thing. Gapy has been great with his baths because he started having them with us the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. Gapy rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & still needs continued work walking on his harness & leash. But has done amazing in his foster home. We are looking for a forever home for Gapy where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them & there must be another dog in the home for him to thrive. Gapy loves other dogs & needs another dog in the home to play with. This is mandatory for his new home. This boy enjoys going into a crate sometimes so that tells us that someone used to call him to go into a crate. In his foster home he sleeps in the bed with his foster mum or will sleep on the dog bed. Gapy is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Gapy has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & was fostered in CA with other dogs & does well with them & enjoys their company. It’s mandatory for him to be in a home with a playful dog. Gapy is roughly just over 6 years old & 21 lbs & is perhaps a dachshund & chihuahua mix, (chiweenie), male. He had a dental & polish & we got him neutered. Gapy is, microchipped, heart worm negative, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. We are currently treating Gapy for a bad skin infection. We have spent far more on Gapy, with all of his medical care getting him well thank his adoption fee comes close to covering with, neuter, paying his shelter fee to get him out of the shelter, shots, flea meds, dewormer, boarding, dental scale & polish etc. Gapy has been around cats since being in the rescue & did well with the cat in his foster home but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. Just because he got along fine with the cat in the foster home doesn’t mean he will get along with all cats. We have not had him around small children so we do not recommend small children & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Gapy was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Gapy’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Gapy potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Gapy has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Gapy & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Gapy who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little chap. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Gapy has an adoption fee of $750 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. To see more pictures and some videos of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. 1.5 yr old Chiweenie, about 17 pounds. 6 dogs were abandoned in a cemetery and only 4 were found alive. Tombey, Lillith, Gravis and Wednesday luckily found their way to us in December. Gravis is an adorable dog who is an amazing mix of fun, playfulness, some timidness, snoozes, and laying in your lap dog. He’s happiest when he is playing with another playful dog, playing with his stuffy toys, destuffing his stuffy toys (LOL), eating, going on walks, running in the yard, laying in the sun, and snoozing in my lap at night. He still has some puppy tendencies such as helping with gardening by digging small holes, helping you keep track of your socks by placing them in his bed, and keeping the birds away by barking. But on the positive side he cleans the kitchen floor in case ANYTHING at all falls off the counter, keeps you safe while you’re using the bathroom, and wears his self out and our other small dog by playing as much as possible. He will attach to the woman in the house and may be timid to males. Gravis does not have a mean bone in his body. He is potty trained, is SO cute, and makes us laugh every day. He is looking for another playful dog to wrestle with and a yard to run in. He gets nervous around small children so children should be eight or older. He is great with most dogs and gets along with cats. To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com Adoption contract and fee applies. 9-year-old female Chiweenie, about 15 pounds. Cherokee is a sweet yet shy girl. She gets very attached to her person and likes to follow around, sleep and cuddle with them. She has a very Doxie personality; smart, opinionated, LOVES to eat and sometimes be vocal. She does not like to share her house with other dogs regardless of temperament, so she needs to be an only dog OR with a human that is very dog pack savvy. She is long and low, with the typical Doxie body, so all the normal Doxie long back protection steps should be taken. Not too fat, ramps, steps and such to prevent her from jumping down from high places. She grows crazy long toenails too, so be prepared to clip and snip regularly! She lets you know when she has to go outside. If you like a dog that likes to get dressed up, she's your gal! Bring on the dresses and sweaters! She does not necessarily need a fenced yard but would love to go for walks and probably no kids under 10. Story
7-year-old male Chihuahua/Min Pin(?), about 14 pounds. Brewster is a distinguished gentleman and lovely to have around! He appreciates the finer things in life, primarily warmth. We often find him having burrito'd himself up into any available blankets, and he appreciates cute sweaters. Brewster is mostly low key - he's happy to nap on his own on the couch (with blankets) or on your lap. He can be bouncy and silly sometimes too (you can't help but smile when you catch him rolling around in his favorite blankets). He plays with other dogs on occasion but isn't always up for play time - if another dog is getting up in his business and he'd rather be left alone/given more space, he'll give a quick correction growl, and both dogs seem to move on just fine. Once he's comfortable in his new home, he'll sleep quietly in his crate through the night. He seems potty trained and mostly avoids peeing in the house (only a couple mishaps have been noted, seemingly related to cold-weather aversion and when in an unfamiliar space). Some of Brewster's quirks include: he prances around a bit, staying dainty on his toes. When he shakes out, you see the wave propagate along his whole body, building to an exciting finale when his back legs and tail are shaking with a mind of their own! He can be a little chirpy/whiny when he knows food time is near, or when he's put in his crate for alone time. He can be a bit noisy when left home alone, so apartments/condos are not a great choice for him or your neighbors. We've noticed he gets anxious on car rides and can whimper when he's unsure about his surroundings. We're working with him on staying quieter in those moments when he's feeling on edge (he's been making good progress so far!). He doesn't engage with toys much but is a curious boy and will follow his nose to tasty-smelling things, so make sure all your snacks are secure! For the most part, Brewster is pretty comfortable meeting new people but can shy away if people reach for him too quickly. He's been polite and curious when meeting other dogs on walks. He's good on a leash - Brewster will walk beside you, alongside another dog, or out in front. He does not pull excessively. He's happy to go on walks, and sniff/mark all the interesting shrubbery, though he's sometimes a bit of a wet weather diva, and may take some coaxing to go outside in bad weather. He's VERY excited to be back and immediately bundle up in blankets. We think he'd do fine as an only dog or in a pack of polite dogs. We haven't met many children with him, but we think he'd probably do ok with gentle children. Cats are unknown. Story
1 year old male Chihuahua mix, about 7 pounds. Tito is the sweetest boy you could ever hope to meet. He is a “Velcro dog” and wants to be with his person as much as possible. Snuggling or lap-lounging are his favorite pastimes. Despite his affectionate nature, he does not appear to suffer from separation anxiety. He gets along well with my two smaller chihuahuas. He is quiet when crated at night, and almost never barks. He is a very quiet boy. He is skittish on walks, and fearful when encountering new people or dogs, but we’re working on building his confidence on walks. He is more confident in the home. He learned how to use the dog-door instantly and is good about letting himself out, but we still take him out periodically to remind him. He loves to chew on treats like bully sticks, but can get growly, displaying resource guarding behaviors with other dogs when he has a treat. He will allow his person to take the coveted treat if needed. He loves to fetch toys and play. He likes to hoard toys in his favorite spot. He has been known to jump up on the kitchen table and coffee table. We’re working on correcting that behavior presently. Tito has a good appetite and will eat other dogs’ food if not supervised, so he eats in a “private dining suite”. We’re not sure how he is with cats or children, but due to his timid nature, we would not suggest a home with small children or loud noises. This happy, very affectionate, well-behaved guy will make a great addition to any home. To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com Adoption contract and fee applies.
