Azriel is an energetic, fun-loving pup, equally ready for cozy snuggle time and acrobatic zoomie time! While his dark coat helps him blend into the shadows (and his belly fur is as silky as Illyrian wings), he loves to be the center of attention, part of the action, and top of the cuddle puddle. Our favorite aspects of Azriel include: (1) He’s a joy to play with, bringing smiles as he enthusiastically fetches his favorite toys, zooming up and down the halls! (2) He’s very playful with other dogs and enjoys romping around the yard with them. This can activate his mega-zoomies, which are hilarious to behold as he reaches top speeds, somehow whirling around various garden obstacles! (3) His ears!! The left ear pops, the right ear flops. It’s a very adorable signature pose. (4) He’s been very well-behaved overnight, easily heading into his crate for sleepy time, and staying quiet all night long. (5) He’s a fan of finding the warmth, whether that’s in a fuzzy blanket, lounging in a sunspot, or nestled in the crook of your arm. He happily and unashamedly hops up to his human and inserts himself into the best spot for a cozy group nap. (6) Azriel seems like he can be pretty emotionally attuned as well - one morning when I learned some sad news and shed a few tears, he came right over, plopped in my lap, and put his paws on my chest. I appreciated his kind warmth. Azriel also has a few areas he’ll need continued work on with his new family. (A) Azriel’s play style with other dogs can be a bit physical - heavy wrestling, play-chomping legs and tails, goofy yowling. We think he’d be best matched with another dog that enjoys physical play. His foster home includes an older dog that can tire of his horsing around, and he sometimes needs correction on when to leave her alone and not keep chomping. They mostly get along fine, but it’s good to make sure he’s not being too pushy or overwhelming. (B) He’s shown mild-moderate leash reactivity on walks. It seems to trigger more frequently when encountering larger dogs, while saying hi to smaller dogs generally goes ok. He’ll need continued training/correction to better contain his reactionary barking and lunging when he’s unsure of another dog. (C) When left home unsupervised, Azriel should be contained without access to anything you’d be sad to have damaged - cords, furniture, non-dog toy stuffies. He’s not a constant destroyer-of-things, but being a puppy brings out destructive chewing. He may grow out of this as he becomes older/more comfortable and he seems generally receptive to corrections in other contexts, but we recommend vigilance to start. Overall, Azriel is a joy to have around! He has so much love to give, and his silly moods and adorable pop-n-flop ears spark many smiles. He seems good with gentle, respectful children. Jimbo was found stray in the city of Tieton and taken in by the Public Works department. They do not have animal control, so they reached out to us for help. Jimbo is shy but quite friendly, playful and interactive when he gets to know you. He is more of a people dog than a dog's dog and will get very attached to "his" person very quickly. That sometimes manifests itself as resource guarding which makes it difficult for him to share. He would do best in an adult only home, as an only dog or with a very dog pack savvy human with indifferent dog pack members. Because he likes to run, a fenced yard would be ideal! Meet Little Lonna! Lonna is a sweet, snuggly, Chihuahua mix, possibly with a little Beagle thrown in, judging by her extreme passion for food and snacks! This little lady is the perfect combination of calm companion and silly personality. She's mostly quiet, wonderfully affectionate, and happiest just being near her people. She loves to follow you around, sneak in an occasional kiss, and curl up with her head resting on your chest. Once you've earned her trust, you've got yourself a loyal little shadow. She'll even accompany you on midnight bathroom trips, just to make sure you never have to go anywhere alone.And did we mention she LOVES food? Somewhere along the way, Lonna learned the most adorable trick. She sits up on her hind legs, crosses her little front paws, and politely begs for snacks. It's nearly impossible to resist! Although sometimes you'll have to, because Lonna is working on shedding a few extra pounds. Don't let her age or laid-back personality fool you. There's still a playful young dog in there! She's started wrestling and playing chase with her temporary dog siblings. Toys aren't really her thing, but a good game with another dog? Absolutely. Life with Lonna In her foster home, Lonna shares her space with two resident dogs and two cats. She's really enjoying the company of her temporary dog siblings and seems to gain confidence from having them around. She's even started snuggling up to them and initiating a little play! While she hasn't quite made friends with the resident cats, they coexist peacefully as long as everyone respects each other's space. We think she'd really enjoy a home with another friendly, easygoing dog. She's also a lovely walking buddy! She walks nicely on leash, loves to sniff and explore, and doesn't pull much. Some of Seattle's busier environments are still overwhelming, but with patience and positive experiences, she's gaining confidence. She's pleasantly mannered, and while she doesn't know many commands yet, her love of treats should make learning new tricks fun!A few things to know Lonna is still working on house training. She does her business on walks but occasionally has accidents indoors, so her future family should be patient and committed to a consistent potty routine. She travels well in the car, especially in a secure crate where she feels safe. Because she can be nervous in unfamiliar situations, we think a calm, adult-only home would be her best fit. Lonna doesn't need constant entertainment or a busy household. Just a patient, loving family, a cozy place to sleep, daily walks, and maybe a furry friend to keep her company. Layla is a sweet, affectionate girl who was originally adopted as a puppy from Smidget Rescue in 2017. Unfortunately, one of her owners has passed away, and the remaining partner went into assisted living. During the 9 years with her previous family, Layla went from 13 lbs to 25 lbs, so she is currently on a diet and exercise plan. Her new foster parents adore her and are committed to helping her get down to her perfect weight of around 15 lbs! Layla loves her people, gets along well with her foster sisters, and happily plays with other dogs she is comfortable with. She's very smart and eager to learn new tricks (especially if treats are involved!). She does have a slightly stubborn streak; not a fan of being picked up and moved off the bed, for example. She loves cozy spots like beds and couches just as much as she enjoys car rides, long walks, and occasionally running away from you! This girl is almost always looking to roam outside the house and will take advantage of an open fence gate! Layla enjoys tummy and head pets, short snuggles, and lap time, and will even give kisses on command. However, not a clinger - she's also perfectly happy hanging out in her own room, as long as she doesn't have to share the bed with another dog. While she prefers not to share sleeping space, she rides in the car with her foster sisters without any issues. She's an independent little explorer who loves spending time in the yard, sniffing everything, or relaxing in the sun. She doesn't dig and isn't an excessive barker. Layla is mostly at ease with strangers, though she may bark at first until she gets a few pets. She doesn't like loud noises or being grabbed suddenly, so she can be a tiny bit skittish. She does have a medium-loud whiskey-and-cigarettes bark, but mostly only uses it when she's excited or if someone is at the door. She's respectful around unfamiliar dogs and does very well at the dog park, steering clear of any trouble. This lady *loves* food. Very enthusiastic about treats and enjoys all dry food, wet food, carrots, blueberries, apples, and peanuts. Shell make her signature hruff hruff! throaty sound and dances around while she's waiting for you to prepare her dinner. Layla is potty trained and does her pees and poops in the yard. Her foster parents leave her uncrated when they're out, as she seems to have a strong bladder and doesn't chew or get into the trash. She's excellent in the car and can usually jump in on her own. Once the car is moving, she settles down in her seat instead of trying to climb into your lap. Energy-wise, she has a typical level of playfulness for a 10-year-old. Occasionally will fetch a toy or proudly drag her bed over to show you when you get home. 6-year-old female Chiweenie, about 9 pounds. Sabine is a sweet, snuggly female Chiweenie. She has a gorgeous chestnut red coat - even her tiny little eyelashes are red! Sabine was rescued from a dog-hoarding situation, and she does very well with other dogs and cats but can be timid toward humans and new spaces and is very wary of men. She bonds quickly with her female foster human(s) and is a very loyal little lap dog. She enjoys toys and can happily entertain herself or play fetch with you. She will definitely make you laugh with her playful antics! Sabine would prefer a fenced yard, as she enjoys sniffing around and sunning when weather allows. She's good on walks and shows no leash aggression toward other dogs. At home, she loves attention and spending time with her people. She is a fantastic cuddler and will gladly join you for lap snuggles and snoozes, but will also give space when needed and happily rest in a dog bed nearby when you are busy. Sabine shows no separation anxiety and does fine left at home alone and does well with housetraining. Sabine would be the perfect fit for a calm home with a single woman or female-only household, especially if you work remotely or are retired. Sabine recently had a dental and small MCT removed.
