Story
Meet Darla! This sweet girl was rescued from a less than ideal situation. She and her sister Sally were mainly kept outside in the backyard with little to no contact with the owners. As a result, Darla is a little under-socialized.  Darla is a very affectionate and sweet girl. It takes her a little time to warm up to a new person, but once she trusts you she will be your best buddy. She loves being with her people and likes to be near you all the time. She is friendly with other dogs though she can be a little jealous about sharing the attention of the humans in the home. This is already improving with some simple training techniques.  Darla likes taking walks and is becoming more confident every day. We would love to see her in a home with a patient person who is dedicated to helping her continue to blossom. She will do best in a home without young children - the unpredictable movements of children can spook her a little.  Darla is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $450 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Meet Cate! Cate is a sweet Chi mix who is loving and fun to have around.  Cate has done well living in an adult only foster home with a middle aged Jindo as a calm, quiet companion.  She does well on a leash and enjoys investigating as she goes on walks.  Cate is eager to please and loves to cuddle with her person on a chair or sofa.  She is also happy to hang out on her bed in her fosters office with her favorite teddy during working hours.  Cate is initially wary of new people and slow, gentle introductions are advised.  She rarely barks and only as a protective response to a visitor at the door, or new human or canine encounter on walks.  Cate responds well to voice commands and is trainable. She is also food motivated.   Because of her small size and fear of quick or noisy movements, Cate would do well in a calm, adult only household, especially one with another dog who can teach her the “rules of the house” and participate in appropriate non-aggressive play.  Cate is happy to cuddle with other pets if they are gentle and receptive.  Cate is a curious girl and likes to go for walks. She needs this regular exercise. She does have an interest in squirrels and other furry animals so she can't live in a home with cats. Older kids are best for her (over 10). Cate is house trained and sleeps in her kennel at night with her favorite blanket and toy for company.  She will alert by scratching on the sides when she needs to go potty in the middle of the night.  She has not been left in her kennel for long periods during the day during her initial stay with her foster as her potty needs are a little unpredictable at this stage of her foster care. Cate will be vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $450   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Yvie is a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix with a gentle heart and a sweet, quirky personality that shines once she feels safe. She may be shy at first, but with a little patience and love, this tiny 8-pound girl blossoms into the most affectionate lap companion. Once Yvie trusts you, she shows her joy in the cutest ways, big smiles, happy jumps, and her signature “meerkat” sit when she’s excited to see you. She loves to cuddle close, especially in a cozy blanket or your lap, and she’ll gently ask for pets with her paw. Yvie would do best in a calm, predictable home with adults or older children who understand how to give her space when she’s feeling shy. She may enjoy a home with another mellow dog, but she’s just as content being the only pet. A fenced yard isn’t required, she’s happy playing indoors and going for short walks. Yvie takes fluoxetine to help with anxiety and is on a special z/d diet. She’s a little sensitive about her kennel and food, so she appreciates having her own safe spaces to retreat to when she needs a break. If you’re looking for a small, loyal companion who just wants a quiet life filled with love, soft toys, and cozy snuggles, Yvie might be the perfect match. Yvie is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines.

Story
This tiny 7-year-old Chihuahua is 8 pounds of sweetness, charm, and squeaky-toy enthusiasm. Minerva arrived at ECPR after a long rescue journey and is now ready for a forever home that will cherish her gentle spirit and support her ongoing medical needs. Minerva is a low-energy girl who lives for cozy laps, soft beds, and quiet companionship. She does well with other dogs and cats, though she prefers to keep her toys to herself, and would do best in a home with adults or teens 15+. She’s comfortable in her kennel, adapts well to apartment living, and is content with short, simple outings — leash and potty training will still be a learning process for her. This little lady has several long-term medical considerations, including protein-losing enteropathy, heart valve disease, and some kidney monitoring needs. She’s stable, comfortable, and feeling good, but will need a family committed to keeping her on her prescription diet, her medications, and her recommended vet check-ins. In return, she offers endless snuggles, polite companionship, and her signature move — celebrating every squeaky toy like it’s the best thing she’s ever seen. Minerva may be small, but her heart is huge. She’s looking for a calm, loving home where she can feel safe, supported, and adored for exactly who she is. If you’re ready to give this special girl the soft landing she deserves, Minerva would love to meet you.

Story
Dont let the name fool you this little guy isnt a fire-breathing dragon, but he does have a flair for the dramatic. Drako is a total lap dog with diva energy, and hes not afraid to let the other dogs know hes the main character. He loves people (especially kids), though he'd prefer your toddlers keep their sticky fingers to themselves. Potty trained? Basically. Cat friendly? Absolutely not. Drako is the kind of dog who wants to be where you are, preferably draped across you like a fancy throw pillow with opinions. He rules the pack, steals hearts, and knows exactly which camera angle makes him look regal.
