Story
Sweet Felix. This boy truly is so so sweet and endearing. He has had a tough start in life. He came to us from a hoarding situation - where he lived with about 60 other dogs who were all left to their own devices. The home caught on fire and the majority of the dogs passed away in the fire. Felix survived but clearly has been affected by this trauma. Felix has come a long way. He has learned to love his leash walks and is a great walking companion. He takes time to warm up to new people but once he trusts you he is a lovely and affectionate boy, who will ask for pets by putting his paw on your arm. You'll need to be patient to reach this advanced level of affection from him though! From his foster mom: Felix has been an absolute delight to foster. He's really calm and likes to observe what's going on before participating, so he will need someone who is patient and will let him go at his own speed. He absolutely LOVES playing with other dogs and when he gets the zoomies, look out!! Once he trusts you, though, prepare to be on the hook for lots of pets and kisses. He's great on walks, no issues with being on the leash and he's potty trained; not even one accident in the house so far. Sleeps all night in his crate, too. I leave him out (not crated) when I'm not home and he's had no issues. He is a chihuahua mix of some kind, but he's more medium-sized than small, around 25-30lbs. No issues at all with my cats or any of my other dogs. Can't say enough good things about this sweet boy! He will do best in a home with a secure yard and another dog that will play with him. He wants to romp and have fun. He is a bit scared of bigger and very energetic dogs and will do best with a smaller dog.  He is vaccinated and chipped. He will be neutered soon. His adoption fee is $395.   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Meet Ivy! Ivy is a spunky, 8-pound, smooth coat Chihuahua that loves to play, but also loves to sleep next to you for a nice long nap after a play sessions (humans, dogs, toys) or a nice bully stick chew stint. She sleeps in her crate and can be alone while you run an errand or at night.  She is extremely easy to train and loves food whether it is her kibble (wet or dry) or treats/cookies.  She is easily trained and goes outside to potty. She is currently living with 7 foster (dog) siblings.  Her favorite activities are hanging out next to you on the couch or in bed, chewing a bone, and going for a walk.  She can be a bit intimidated by bicycles that appear with no warning and isn’t sure strollers and scooters should be legal, but she recovers immediately and is ready to continue on with her excursion. She would love another dog to play with in her new home. She plays consistently with a fellow 8 pound sibling, but engages the larger 15-18 pound siblings too.  She isn’t a Chihuahua that is scared of everything in the world!  She never met a treat she wouldn’t take from complete strangers.   Respectful dog savvy children that are a bit older would be best since she is very small.  She can dart quickly out from under feet when they unexpectedly come too close.    If you are looking for a companion to add to your world for the next 15 years, Ivy would make a perfect addition!  Please complete an application if you would like to know more information regarding Ivy. Ivy is vaccinated, chipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $395. We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Looking for a cuddle buddy with a gentle heart? Meet Frito! Frito is a three year old Chihuahua mix weighing in at a petite 10 pounds. Imagine a pint-sized ball of warmth and sweetness, but don't underestimate the depth of his love. While the world can be a scary place for him at times, he finds solace in quiet cuddles and gentle pats. He longs for a patient family who understands his need for slow introductions and a calm environment. He might be a timid at first, but give him time, and his tail will start wagging, revealing a playful spirit waiting to blossom. He enjoys treat puzzle games, is learning to walk on a leash, and thrives on positive reinforcement training. Patience is key! Here's what makes Frito special: Cuddle king: He loves nothing more than snuggling on the couch or your lap while you're working at your desk, reading, or watching TV. Gentle soul: His small size is matched by a gentle temperament, making him perfect for adults or older children. Quick learner: With positive reinforcement, he's eager to please and learn new things. The ideal home for Frito would have: Patient humans: Someone who understands his fears and offers him a safe space to grow confident. A calm environment: Busy households or loud noises might overwhelm him. This could change as he grows in confidence. Another dog in the home who is friendly towards him will help him a lot.  No small children: While loving, he can feel nervous around unpredictable movements. This could change as he grows in confidence. If you're looking for a sweet, cuddle-loving companion who needs extra understanding, Frito could be your perfect match. He's ready to shower you with affection and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to open their hearts. P.S. Don't let his shyness fool you! With love and patience, he'll blossom into a happy, confident dog who will bring endless joy to your life. Frito is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $395 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Meet Chip! Chip and his sister Salsa were rescued after being abandoned in a tote bag by the side of the road. They are such cute little pups, we just can't fathom how anyone could just dump them like that. They are around 11-12 weeks old and around 6 lbs.  Chip and Salsa are typical puppies - playful, mouthy, funny, lots of energy and lots of snuggles. They'll of course need a little training and socialization in order to become good canine citizens. They are young and eager to learn. Both pups are bouncy and full of playful energy - they are not couch potatoes! Chip and Salsa have received their first puppy vaccinations, deworming and microchip. They will be spayed/neutered at our cost when they are a bit older. The adoption fee is $495.  Applications are reviewed in the order they are received and can be submitted via savinggreatanimals.org We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
