Story
Charlie   Age: 3 years Sex: Neutered male Breed: Mix Color: Brown Weight: 8.05 kg Height: 32 cm     Rescue Story   Charlie was rescued from an extremely traumatic situation. After an elderly owner passed away, the home was found with deceased cats, one surviving cat, and Charlie — who had been left confined in the bathroom with a wire muzzle tied around his mouth.   After the scene was cleared by authorities and the landlord, Charlie was placed in temporary care and then transferred to a municipal shelter. Despite what he went through, Charlie has remained affectionate, intelligent, and deeply people-oriented.     ‍‍ With People   Charlie loves people and seeks connection.   • Approaches both familiar and new people with friendly body rubs • May be slightly shy at first, but warms up quickly with treats • Allows handling and enjoys being held when supported under the belly • Often shows his belly once comfortable — sometimes even to new people • Generally more comfortable with women • Can be fearful of some men and needs patient, calm introductions     With Other Dogs   Charlie is social and playful with other dogs.   • Greets both familiar and unfamiliar dogs and invites them to play • Friendly with dogs both larger and similar in size • If another dog challenges him, he may respond — so careful introductions are important   Cats & Prey Drive   • Has lived in a multi-cat household for about 5 months • On walks, he may stare at cats but will follow his handler • Shows prey drive toward birds   Energy & Activity   Charlie has medium to high energy and has athletic ability.   • Loves outdoor activity and play • Settles well after proper exercise • Needs daily physical and mental stimulation   He has even kept up with Border Collies and Malinois for hours of play — he is small but mighty.     On Walks   • Walks well on leash without pulling • Loves to sniff and may stop often to explore     At Home   • Uses both pee pads and outdoor potty • Calm and well-behaved in a kennel • Gets in and out of the car on his own • May bark at unfamiliar people     Food & Training   • Not food-protective toward people • May growl if another dog approaches while he is eating • Extremely food-motivated — excellent for training     Play, Training & Intelligence   Charlie is smart, athletic, and playful.   • Loves fetch, tug, and chasing toys • Prefers soft toys like socks and plushies • Enjoys puzzle toys and food-dispensing toys • Strong bite strength — toys wear out quickly   He has even won local competitions for: “Sit & Stay” “Find the Treat”   He thrives in homes that enjoy training, agility, and interactive play.     The Right Home   He needs: A confident, consistent handler Daily exercise and mental stimulation Structured introductions to new dogs and people   In return, he becomes deeply loyal, funny, energetic, and emotionally bonded to his person — a true partner for someone who enjoys an active life with their dog.   Charlie is ready to give his whole heart to the person who gives him stability, leadership, and love. Story
Meet ChocolataChocolata is a happy, affectionate, and sensitive little dog who is discovering what it means to truly have a home. After spending most of her life on the streets, she has shown incredible resilience and sweetness. She loves going for walks, running on the beach, and playing with stuffed animals. Chocolata enjoys relaxing in sunny spots and being close to her people, especially if she’s allowed on the sofa or bed. She would do best in a home with a patio, kind children who respect pets, and a family that is present and loving. She is not suited for homes with reactive dogs or owners who are rarely home. Chocolata walks well on leash, knows basic commands, and is ready to give all the love she has saved for years. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. As a U.S. nonprofit, Hope 4 La Pawz, handles all logistics and provides full behavioral and medical info in advance.

Story
Meet Joey! Named after a baby kangaroo, he certainly lives up to it. This little whippet mix is 11 pounds and all legs. He is about 4 years old but acts like a puppy! Joey is the sweetest boy and loves all people. He's very outgoing and just wants everyone's attention. He was on the streets for a while so will need some more potty and manners training but he's a very fast learner. He would thrive in a home with other dogs and people who will give him the love and attention he'll certainly ask for. He's also an active dog so he would be an amazing exercise buddy. If you're looking for a spunky, and lovable dog then Joey is the one for you! He would do best in a home with older children and no cats. He loves other dogs and will happily share a home with a dog friend. Joey is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Meet Peach! Peach is soft, sensitive, and quietly trying her best. Peach is a 4-year-old dog who is extremely shy and cautious around people. She can peacefully coexist with humans, but she has significant stranger danger and will choose flight over interaction every time. Trust with Peach is not forced or fast. It is earned slowly, gently, and always on her terms. She is food motivated, which helps, but people are still scary. Peach is currently learning to walk on leash and gains confidence from small, secure spaces where she feels safe enough to observe the world. From there, she is beginning to explore one careful step at a time. With Peach, slow and steady truly wins the race. Dogs, however, are her comfort and her anchor. Peach needs a confident, kind dog companion and mentor in the home. She thrives when she has another dog to follow, learns household routines by watching them, and experiences separation anxiety when left without canine company. She enjoys dogs 6 months and older and prefers calm, friendly companions. If you are looking for a best friend for your dog, Peach might be the perfect match. Peach is crate trained and house trained as long as there is another dog in the home to follow. She will sleep in your room at night and finds comfort simply being nearby. She is indifferent to cats unless they attempt to take her food, in which case she will politely but firmly stand her ground. Peach would do best in a quiet, adult-only home with no children, minimal foot traffic, and guardians who understand that love doesn't always look like cuddles. For Peach, love looks like patience, consistency, and letting her move at her own speed. If your dog is missing a gentle companion and you have the heart to let a shy soul bloom in her own time, Peach may be your girl.  Peach is spayed, vaccinated and chipped. Her adoption fee is $150 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Meet Lily! Lily is a 5-year-old girl with a very sweet face and a gentle soul. She is extremely shy with new people and slow to trust, having already done one of the hardest jobs there is - raising her puppies. Now it is Lily's turn to be safe, settled, and never rushed again. Lily is a true homebody who prefers calm, routine, and predictability. Lily isn't really into people in the traditional sense, but she finds comfort and confidence in other dogs. She loves dogs of all sizes (though puppies are not her favorite) and tends to choose one dog to attach herself to while still being perfectly happy as part of a pack. She follows other dog's leads - going outside with them, settling where they settle, and learning the rhythm of the household through them. Lily does enjoy snuggling on the human bed and is perfectly happy sharing that space with cats, too. She is good with cats overall and appreciates having her own quiet spot where she can retreat when she needs space. She is crate trained and housetrained, largely by following the example of the other dogs in the home. Food is Lily's love language. She happily takes treats from your hand, but she may let you know how she is feeling with a gentle nose boop. Sometimes it means "please stop touching me" and other times it means "excuse me, I believe you forgot the snacks". It is her subtle, endearing way of communicating.  Lily needs a patient, understanding family who will move slowly, respect her boundaries, and let her trust grow naturally. She is not a dog who demands attention but for the right home, she will be  a quiet, loyal presence who will weave herself into your life.  Lily can be possessive of her space but is good with food and toys. She doesn't like anyone going in her crate which is rather hypocritical because she thinks it's fine for her to go in anyone else's crate    When she is pushed too hard or feels defensive (like being taken to the vet for scary vaccinations) she can be bitey. A soft and slow approach to let her know what is happening and to get her consent helps her a lot. She still needs work on allowing people to touch her more freely and we would love to see her with a family who can help her learn that she will be listened to and can feel autonomy over her own body.   Lily is  super cute and does a cute little tap dance with her front feet and butt in the air when you get her meal together or she thinks you're handing out treats. Lily is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $250 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Meet Bodi! This dapper little fella is so so sweet! Bodi is a Chihuahua mix (not sure what he is mixed with) and weighs around 7-8 lbs. He is around 5 months old.  Bodi is a friendly boy who loves other dogs, cats and kids. He is initially timid around people and needs a moment to trust, but once he loves you he prefers to be with you all the time. He loves sleeping on your lap, in your bed,  or wherever you allow him to be. He is playful and gentle and overall a great pup. He will do best in a home with another little dog friend as he is still working on confidence. This kind of social facilitation can be very helpful to help him blossom. Older kids, over 8, will be best for him.  Bodi is vaccinated, microchipped and will be neutered between 8-12 months of age, at our cost. His adoption fee is $525 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
