Story

Rehoming needed ASAP. We're so happy to have given Bernie a year outside of the pound. Although he has come far, his bite history makes it impossible for us to keep him as we have a baby on the way. Bernie was rescued from euthanasia in an overcrowded shelter in LA last Oct 2025, After rescue he was moved to PNW to look for his forever home in Dec 2025. Bernie is estimated to be 9 years old and was neutered in 2025. He's house trained and does well on a leash, loves to play fetch, frisbee, and enjoys daily walks. Once he knows you, he loves to play and cuddle. He loves pets, belly rubs, and tug-of-war with toys. In the year Bernie has been out of the shelter he has gained confidence and blossomed into a loving companion. Sadly we don't know much about the first 8 years of Bernies life, he is wary of new people and protective of spaces like his bed. Bernie will do best with an adult only home with experienced dog owners. We Strongly recommend behavioral training for continued growth..

Knowing she could not hold out much longer in those harsh conditions, Adogs stepped in urgently to rescue her. 3. Basic Information * With People: Is a bit shy around new people at first, but sits calmly and accepts gentle pets and handling. Once you give her time and wait for her patiently, she opens up her heart and reveals her fun, cheerful side. * With Dogs: Coexists peacefully and smoothly with her friends at our center. * With Cats: Has not been introduced to cats yet. * Separation Anxiety: Shows zero signs of separation anxiety. * Potty Training: Currently uses indoor pee pads at our center. Will require a fresh potty training routine once she moves into a new environment. * Hygiene: Calmly accepts bathing, brushing, and ear cleaning. * Walks: Has not had outdoor leash walking experience yet. * Car Sickness: Rides comfortably in the car without any signs of motion sickness. * Has never shown any biting tendencies. * Has shown no barking behavior at our center, though retraining may be necessary as her habits adapt to a new home. * Is calm and gentle when you first meet her, but once she settles in, she blossoms into a playful, bright, and delightful girl.

Rescue Story When ADOGS visited the shelter for winter-prep volunteer work, Hina had a severe wound on her leg caused by excessive licking, seemingly due to uncomfortable clothing. To prevent her wound from worsening and jeopardizing her overall health, ADOGS stepped in urgently to rescue her. 3. Personality & Characteristics * Interaction with Humans: She loves humans yet feels very fearful of them. She exhibits cautious barking around strangers, though she takes treats well. She runs away if you approach while standing, but if you sit down and gently extend a hand to the side, she approaches on her own to sniff and allows touch on her neck or the side of her face. While she used to dodge touch even when approaching familiar people with a wagging tail, she has improved significantly; she now accepts affection well if gently gathered into an embrace first. She even approaches on her own if she sees you petting another dog! * Interaction with Dogs: She has great social skills, playing playfully with other dog friends at the shelter. She coexists wonderfully and gets along warmly with every dog companion. * Interaction with Cats: She has not yet been introduced to cats. * Separation Anxiety: Since she is currently living in a group setting at the shelter, her individual anxiety levels are unknown. Structured independence training may be needed from day one in a home environment. * Potty Training: She handles her business both indoors and outdoors. Retraining may be needed upon moving into a home setting. * Grooming & Hygiene: She accepts brushing calmly and gently, though she feels uncomfortable during nail trims. * Leash Walking: She freezes up completely when taken outside for walks. She also displays demand barking when asking for food or requesting to be let out of her kennel. * Personality & Tendencies: She is timid and watchful, maintaining a high level of daily tension. While extremely guarded around humans when first rescued, she now approaches familiar handlers and accepts touch. Recently, she has expanded her comfort zone to allow being held. When offering affection, gathering her up slowly before petting allows her to accept touch calmly. She needs a patient home that will wait gently for her to open her heart.

Gladly approaches strangers first! Especially loves sitting on people's laps.
