Story
Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Age: 1Y 7M Weight: 20.4 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, requires companion dog in the home Cat friendly: Unknown Kid friendly: Unknown Potty trained: Good on a Schedule Crate trained: Yes *****Companion Dog and Fenced Yard Required***** Hello! My name is Macadamia, but my foster mom has many nicknames for me like Mac, Mackie, or Mac N Cheese. I’m a very sweet and spunky girl. I’m a mix between an adventurer and a lap dog. I get along with people very well and have loved everyone I have met so far. I will follow my foster mom around the house and snuggle up close to her on the couch. In fact, I am curled up in my foster mom’s lap right now as she is writing this. I love to give people kisses and sometimes a few love nibbles. I have gotten along with all of the dogs I have met so far too. I love playing and snuggling with my foster mom’s dog. Don’t let my tiny package fool you… I like to have fun! I am a smart and moderate energy girl. I am easy to train. I like to go for my daily walks and am a decent leash walker, but I'll still need some continued training on that front. I love to play tug and chase with my toys. I can keep myself entertained and play by myself with my toys too! I love to chew. Bully sticks and other chews are so fun, but don’t leave any small things like the tv remote where I can reach it because I might mistake that for a toy. I enjoy sitting outside in the backyard, watching the squirrels and soaking in the sun. I am potty trained on a schedule and keep my crate clean. I am making great strides with crate training learning that it is positive and safe, but sometimes I may still whine a little. I do settle down and am crated while my foster mom is at work to keep me safe and comfortable. I also ride very well in the car. Maybe it’s because everytime I go in one I’m either going for an adventure or getting a pup cup! Please consider making me the next addition to your family. I am so sweet, cuddly, spunky, energetic and friendly. I would love it if you gave me a chance! Adoption fee: $595.00

Story
Your future best friend just spun her way into town, and she’s ready to steal your heart (and your leftover wet food).   Meet Lucita (or Lucy, or Lucy Lou, or just "The Potato"). Here is the lowdown on this Dachshund-mix masterpiece:    Her Signature Moves The 360-Degree Spin: Why walk in a straight line when you can twirl? Lucita literally spins through life. She can walk straight, she just prefers to put a little spice on it. (Bonus: The more relaxed she gets, the less she spins!)   The "No Teeth, No Problem" Smile: Thanks to a wild underbite, Lucita recently had 17 teeth removed. She’s fully healed and totally unfazed. She can still crunch kibble, but she will absolutely sing you the song of her people for some wet food.   The T-Rex Hops: When playtime hits, she does these adorable little bunny hops and pounces on her toys. She can get a little mouthy when she’s hyped up, but since she has no front teeth, she really just gently gums you.    Social Status & Vibes "I love humans. Other animals are... fine, I guess." — Lucita's Review of Life   The Fun Police: She currently co-exists with two dogs and three cats. She’s totally fine sharing a roof with them, but she’s not looking for a party animal. If other dogs start playing too loudly, she goes into "Mommy Mode" to break up the fun.   The Management: Lucita excels at micro-managing her humans. If you aren't giving her enough attention, she will lock eyes with you and give a tiny, dramatic whine until you fix your behavior.   The Routine Queen: She is a car-ride champion, quiets down like a dream in her kennel, and is semi-potty trained. Keep her on a good routine, and she’s golden! Because of her spunky play style, older kiddos are best.   When she isn't busy being a total comedian, Lucita just wants to be your 27-pound weighted blanket. She is perfectly content to curl up in your bed, nestle into the couch cushions, or trot along with you on a walk.   Ready to add some literal spin to your life? Apply to adopt Lucita today!        Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $450.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 4, 2026, 10:25 pm

Name:  Bella Rae Age:  8 years Gender: Female Breed:  Dachshund / Terrier Mix Weight: 32lbs Dog friendly:  Yes Cat friendly:  Yes Child friendly:  Yes, calm children ages 8+ House trained:  Yes Crate trained:  No, does not use crate, not needed Energy level:  Low Temperament:  Timid, Cautious, Sweet Requirement: Not apartment appropriate Adoption Fee: $275+tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: Bella is an incredibly sweet and gentle 8‑year‑old Dachshund mix who thrives in a calm, steady environment with someone who can give her the companionship she’s used to. She bonds deeply with her person and prefers to spend her days nearby—often lounging on the couch or resting in her bed within sight. Bella adjusts slowly in new places and may need a day or two to feel safe, but once she does, her affectionate, easygoing personality shines. She enjoys other dogs, does wonderfully with cats, and has always been gentle around children, though a quieter home suits her best. Bella loves car rides, walks beautifully on a leash, and would make a wonderful office companion or stay‑at‑home sidekick. She is currently overweight and will benefit from consistent walks, a healthier routine, and someone who can help her transition away from table food. Bella does fine when left alone for short periods, but she is happiest when her person is close and her world feels predictable and secure. From Bella Rae: Hi, I’m Bella Rae. I’m a soft‑hearted girl who loves being near my human and feeling like part of your day. I may hide under a bed or table at first, but once I know I’m safe, I’ll follow you around like your little shadow. I’m not much of a lap dog, but I love being close curled up on the couch or snoozing in my favorite spot while you work or relax. I adore car rides, enjoy gentle play with other dogs, and I’m very proud of how nicely I walk on a leash. I’ve lived with cats and think they make great friends. Loud noises, big changes, and thunderstorms can be scary for me, so I’m hoping for a peaceful home with someone patient and loving. If you’re looking for a loyal, tender‑hearted companion who just wants to be near you and share a calm, cozy life, I would love to be your girl.August 4, 2026, 12:48 pm
