Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Mikey! Mikey is a 1-year-old, 15 lb Dachshund/Spaniel mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. He’s now looking for a very special home that can give him the time, patience, and understanding he needs to thrive. Mikey is a shy, sensitive boy who can be skittish in new situations and around new people. He is considered a flight risk, so he will need a calm, secure home committed to keeping him safe while he learns to trust and settle in. He’s looking for a quiet, predictable environment—ideally outside of the busy city—where he can decompress, build confidence, and establish a steady routine. Because of his sensitive nature, Mikey will need an adult-only home with adopters who have experience working with shy or fearful dogs. Having another well-adjusted, confident dog in the home would be a huge benefit for Mikey. He takes comfort in other dogs and would love a buddy to help show him the ropes and build his confidence. While he may be reserved at first, once Mikey forms a bond and feels safe, he shows his true colors—sweet, cuddly, and deeply loving with his people. He just needs time, patience, and a gentle approach to get there. Mikey has not been tested with cats. Mikey is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Lena! Lena is a 1-year-old, 19 lb Jack Russell Terrier/Dachshund mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. This girl is an absolute charmer! She is happy, sweet, spunky, goofy, loving, cuddly, and always ready for some fun! Lena is a social, outgoing girl who loves both people and other dogs. She has done well with her canine friends and would love to have another young, playful, energetic dog in her forever home who can keep up with her and be her full-time playmate. She could also do well as an only dog as long as her family is committed to keeping her well-socialized and giving her plenty of opportunities to interact with other dogs. With her people, Lena is basically a professional cuddler. She loves being close, climbing into your lap, and rolling over for belly rubs. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be involved in whatever you’re doing and would make an amazing little sidekick. Lena is looking for an active, outgoing family who wants to take their dog places and make her part of the adventure. Walks, hikes, outings, exploring new places, and all the fun everyday adventures are exactly what this girl is looking for. She has plenty of energy and would love a family who can give her an engaging lifestyle that keeps both her body and her social butterfly personality happy. Lena has not been tested with cats. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, adventurous dog who will happily go from belly rubs to adventures and back again, Lena may be your perfect match! Lena is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $550.

Story
Rocky is an extremely affectionate six year old dog who would love to keep you company on the bed or couch while you sleep or watch TV. He will be happy with a morning and evening walk and the opportunity to play with his favorite toys. You will not need a doorbell as he will alert you with his big-dog-bark when someone comes to your door. However, once your guest has been welcomed into your home and Rocky has had an opportunity to sniff your visitor's shoes, he will happily return to his spot on the couch. He was first adopted when he was a year old and are unsure of his first year was like. For the last five years, he has lived with two retired adults who have been home most of the time, but has not displayed any negative behaviors when he has been left alone for the day. Rocky's Mom and Dad are very attached to him, but have developed some medical issues that make is difficult to provide the exercise he needs to be happy.

Please note that this dog is currently located in TX and will be transported once adopted. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org. Meet Your New Little Sidekick! 🐾❤️ This handsome little guy is a 5-year-old, 12-pound Chiweenie with a personality that is WAY bigger than his tiny body! 🌭🐶 He's a total character and has a wonderfully comical personality that will keep you laughing. He loves his people deeply and, once you're his person, he's all about being by your side. And when the day is done, his favorite place is probably curled up next to you for a good snuggle. 🥰 Don't let his small size fool you—this boy LOVES his walks! He's happiest when he's out exploring the world with his favorite person, so he'd make a great little walking buddy. He's also crate trained and does well with other dogs. Now, he does have a little bit of a "Who are you and why are you at my house?!" reaction when meeting new people. 😂 He can be barky with strangers, so he'll do best with someone who understands that some little dogs need a little time to warm up and feel comfortable. Once you're in his circle, though, you've got a loyal little buddy who loves his people. If you're looking for a funny, affectionate, walk-loving, snuggly little companion with a big personality packed into 12 pounds, this Chiweenie might be your perfect match! ❤️ Apply to adopt him at haydudeequine.org! 🐾

Story
Available in TX only! King is a one year old Basset Hound/Lab mix with a gentle soul and a laid back nature. He is still gaining confidence and can be scared of new things, especially loud noises, but once he feels safe he settles in nicely. When he gets excited he can be a little jumpy, though most of the time he is calm and easygoing. King truly enjoys running around the yard, going on walks, and soaking up outdoor time. He has a playful side and loves playing fetch with frisbees and balls. Tug of war is another favorite game, and he is a big fan of chew time. Knuckle bones, hard chew toys for power chewers, and anything he can safely gnaw on make him very happy. King is crate trained and house trained, which makes him an easy addition to a home. King does have a prey drive and enjoys chasing squirrels and frogs, and he will chase cats, so a cat free home is recommended. He also has a sensitive stomach and does best on sensitive stomach dog food. King would thrive in a patient, understanding home that will give him time to build confidence and continue showing him the world is a safe place. With love and consistency, he will be a loyal and loving companion. To apply directly for King, push the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-751
