Story
Animal Profile: NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS Dahlia is an estimated 6-month-old 20 lb mixed breed who came to the shelter along with her brother Duncan and was assessed to be sweet and friendly with people and dogs. She will be joining us from Caddo Parish shelter arriving to Seattle on 8/8/23. We will share more info once we get to know her in foster care.   Foster Update:  6 month old Dahlia has been doing great, she's a wiggly bundle of love.  Super affectionate, curious, and responsive when we say No. We've only heard her bark once this past week (when a raccoon was at our window) Pretty typical puppy energy, maybe even a bit calmer. She gets spurts of wanting to play with us, a toy, or our dog, but is also great at resting her crate. (She loves all kinds of toys!) We haven't had a problem leaving Dahlia alone and she's nearly potty trained - she only had one accident in the house when we didn't let her outside right after crate time.   Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from Caddo Parish animal shelter in Louisiana and will be arriving to Seattle area via Tail Lights Rescue Project on 08/08//2023. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated.September 25, 2023, 2:40 am

Story
Animal Profile: Duncan is an estimated 8-month-old 17 lb mixed breed who came to the shelter along with his sister Dahlia and was assessed to be sweet and friendly with people and dogs. He joined us in Seattle from Caddo Parish shelter on 8/8. We will share more info once we get to know him in foster care.   Foster Update: 8/31-  Duncan, 6 months, is a bundle of energy and cuddles. He is a perfect young dog waiting for his forever home with a family that will spend a little time training him. He rarely barks, only when excited. No accidents since he has settled in. He can be left alone in his crate without problems and sleeps in his crate all night without a peep. He has puppy energy so would love an active home.  He also loves his toys. After 7pm, he just wants to pass out on your lap for the night. He is settling in beautifully.  He just wants to cuddle and play! He will lick your face whether you want it or not. He loves trying to play with our other dog, a senior female. But she isn't very into it. I think he would love to have a playmate but could be a solo dog too. He is great in the crate - no problems silently hanging in there when we are gone or during the night.  He is essentially house trained but had one accident (we are getting used to his signs to tell us he needs to go outside). But once we let him out, he is very quick! He needs some training on walking on a leash. He doesn't pull or anything, just tries to trip you. He wants to say hi to other dogs on walks,, and loves all toys! . Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. At around 5 months he is playful, ready for adventures and having a grand ole time exploring...everywhere! He is your typical happy pup that will need daily exercise and playtime but with that in he should make a great family member for a home in town, out in the country or anywhere in between. At his current weight of about 12ish lbs he should come in around the top end of the small category of 25ish lbs. Bruno will be an awesome size that is not to small to enjoy all your outdoor activities but not too big that he will take up the whole couch. With his short sleek coat Bruno will be low maintenance in the grooming department, a wash-n-go type of fella. Which you know what that means don't you? HE WAS FOUND WITH TWO PUPPIES UNDER A HIGHWAY BRIDGE. UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. HE WILL LOVE TO TAKE WALKS AND WALKS WITH YOU. IT IS PLAYFUL AND FRIENDLY, WHICH MAKES IT IDEAL TO BE WITH CHILDREN AND LITTLE ONES. HE LIKES TO EXPLORE, DISCOVER NEW THINGS, MEET PEOPLE AND ABOVE ALL PLAY. The $550.00 adoption fee covers the following: Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash. The adoption fee does not include transportation. Hi my name is Cookee, and I'm the sweetest treat of a pup that you'll ever meet. People say I remind them of cookies and cream when I give them sweet kisses on the nose or bump up and snuggle with them when they're feeling down. I am a Dachshund-Basset mix, 8-years old, and medium sized about 30# full grown. Sitting on people's couches or laps is my favorite pastime as I get to snuggle close to the people I love, which is practically everyone! I LOVE OTHER DOGS TOO!! I definitely want a home with other dogs :) As I am a bit on the older side and lived on the streets until I was saved with my babies in my tummy. I have been living at my foster home and am ready for my forever HOME!! I will need a patient and loving family to give me a good life of exercise- LOL, playtime, treats, love, affection, and belonging. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
In the heart of bustling San Antonio, where the streets echoed with the sounds of city life, there lived two inseparable companions named Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. They were a unique pair of dachshund/terrier mixes, each with their distinctive personalities and a bond that could weather any storm. Judas Priest, with his soulful brown eyes and a heart as warm as the Texan sun, was the elder of the two. His silky coat shimmered like polished bicolored metal :), and his gentle disposition made him the perfect match for his spirited partner. Iron Maiden, on the other hand, was a whirlwind of energy with a coat as dark as midnight. Her playful nature and boundless enthusiasm for life were contagious. Together, they were a yin and yang, perfectly complementing each other in every way. Their story began on the mean streets of San Antonio, where they faced the harsh realities of life as strays. Despite the odds, they had each other, and their unwavering love and support kept them going through thick and thin. One fateful day, a kind-hearted passerby noticed the inseparable duo, huddled together for warmth beneath a tattered cardboard box. Touched by their devotion and the spark of hope in their eyes, the Good Samaritan decided to rescue them from the streets. Judas Priest and Iron Maiden soon found themselves in a loving foster home, where they flourished. They were house trained, well-behaved, and showered their foster family with affection. However, it was clear that their bond was unbreakable, and they simply couldn't bear to be apart. Judas Priest and Iron Maiden bring boundless joy and endless laughter to their foster home, proving that love, loyalty, and the unbreakable bond between two souls could overcome even the toughest of beginnings. They are now ready for YOUR HOME!!! Adopt these two and you will seal the deal for them for the rest of their lives :) Local adoption fee is $400 (together in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $800 (together and includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Meet Alaric! Sweet little Alaric aka Ricky has the cutest little Dobby ears and he has the big paws, short legs and long body of a basset hound! He loves playing with other dogs and with playful cats, so he'd love to have friends in his forever home! Ricky is about 4 months old and weighs 17 pounds. He's learning with potty training, and he loves to follow around his fosters. He prefers to avoid crowds, so he's more of a homebody, but he likes going on walks with his pack. He knows sit, and he's really chill and laid back for a puppy.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats.
