UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. Meet Tex – Your Loyal Little Lookout! 🐾 Tex is an approximately 2-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix (or at least that’s our best guess), and he’s the perfect blend of small size and big heart. This sweet boy came to us from a rural shelter where he was very shut down and scared. Since arriving in his foster home, Tex has truly blossomed into a much more relaxed and confident pup. Now that he knows he’s safe, Tex enjoys the comforts of home life: lounging around, following his humans, and hanging out with the other dogs in the house. He’s also curious about the cats, though if they dart off too quickly, he might give a bark or two to let them know he noticed. Tex is an excellent little alert dog who takes his job seriously. If something unusual is happening around the property or if a sneaky squirrel dares to raid the bird feeder, Tex will sound the alarm. He’s got a great nose for mischief and will keep your porch squirrel-free. Tex would thrive in a calm, low-activity home where he can build a strong bond with his adopter. Once he knows he’s safe and loved, he’ll likely become your loyal little shadow. Tex is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions. Please note: Tex is only eligible for local adoption in the San Antonio area at this time. It took him several months to fully warm up in his foster home, and we are hoping to find an adopter nearby.
